PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - BOX

PUR Minerals has released a mystery grab bag of full sized products, with a $100 value!

FYI – I recommend reading the reviews on the page for the Mystery Grab Bag. Looks like they are using this mystery bag as a way to clear older (still new) inventory. Just a good thing to keep in mind before buying so you aren’t surprised when it arrives!

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - info

Included with my order was a packing slip listing each item.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 1

PUR Minerals 3-in-1 Universal Pencil, natural – value: $17

Since this mystery box seems to be a way to clear out older (but still new) products, I’m not surprised that I couldn’t find this pencil on PUR Minerals’ website. It’s probably discontinued. This says it’s an eyeliner, brow pencil, or lip pencil and it has a little spooly brush on the end for brows. It seems to work fine, but it’s in a very brown shade and doesn’t work for me, personally.

PUR Minerals Mineral Eye Defining Pencil with Smudger, Hidden Treasure – value: $17 (on sale for $7)

I’m a fan of when eyeliners have smudgers on them because it saves me from having to use a brush. This shade is a brown/black with some gold shimmer.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 2

The 3-in-1 pencil is swatched on top here, and the eyeliner is on bottom.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 3

PUR Minerals Perfect Fit Eyeshadow Trio in MatchMaker – value: $26 (on sale for $14)

This eyeshadow trio is fun. I don’t play with pink shadow very often. I’m not a fan of the formula – it’s tough and hard to pick up on my brush, and doesn’t apply much pigment. However, I also noticed a difference in performance between color shades. The pink was the most difficult to work with, and the brown was the easiest. This inconsistency makes me wonder about other trios in other shades – they may be fine/easy to work with!

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 4

PUR Minerals Lip Gloss Stick, Daredevil – value: $16

This lip gloss stick is nice! It feels very moisturizing and is sheer with the first swipe, but buildable.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 5

The top swatch is one swipe of the color, and the bottom is three swipes.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 6

PUR Minerals Eye Liner Brush – value: $16?

It looks like PUR Minerals has revamped their brushes to be a little different, so this must be an older make. The synthetic bristles are a little stiff, so this is better for applying very heavy pigmentation (the stiffer the brush the more pigment will be picked up with it and the more solidly it will be deposited on your skin [and the softer the brush, the less pigment is picked up by the bristles and it applies more lightly to your skin]) so you just have to keep that in mind.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 7

Here, I used everything except the 3-in-1 pencil since it’s too dark for my brows.

Because it was a little hard to work with, the pink shadow came off very subtle, but it worked out! It’s still a very pretty and wearable color, I think.

PUR MINERALS MYSTERY BOX JAN 2016 - items 8

FYI – I used the cream shade all over, and up to my brows to highlight. Then I put the pink in the center of my lids, and the brown in the outer corners and blended into my crease. Then, to enhance it a little more, I applied a little more pink again to the middle of my lid.

Verdict: The (original, not sale) value of everything comes out to $92. Not quite the $100 value they claim but I’m not mad because $92 is still awesome for $15. I’m happy with this because I’ve never tried PUR Minerals products before, and I feel like I have a nice range of products that I’ve now tried to introduce me to the brand.

What do you think about my PUR Minerals mystery grab bag items? If you grabbed one of these, what did you get?

Love your reviews!

I received almost completely different items – the Au Naturel eye shadow palette, Cease Crease eye shadow primer, an eye shadow brush, eyeliner and smudger in Peridot, and the Big Look mascara. Overall, I’m pretty happy! It’s an awesome deal for just ~$15.

Hi Haley, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the boxes and products you review. I love that you show what everything looks like and especially enjoy your taking pictures of you with the products on. You look so beautiful wearing the samples. I am always excited every day to get your email of boxes for review. It really makes my day. Keep up the good work.

Beautifully worn Haley! What a cool box! And I’m with you, $92 isn’t bad for a $15 box. What a deal!

I LOVE the Hidden Treasure eyeliner and the lip gloss stick. The rest didn’t work out for me, but I think I got my money’s worth.

Glad I resisted and didn’t get this. Not much of a fan of anything shown.

Sarah

I love the idea of a Pur mystery bag, but I would have been hella disappointed in those products.

Heather

Mine was almost the same but I got two of the exact same eye pencils. When I reached out to customer service, they didn’t offer to fix. Thought that was bad customer service.

Haley, you are such a great reviewer of products! I love how you show the makeup products as a swatch, and also show them in use, whether it be makeup or clothing. You also make everything look so good! Keep it up!

I recieved everything the same except instead of the universal pencil I recieved another eyeliner in peridot, which is a dark green. I’m happy with the items overall, except I think the eyebrow brush is terrible. I love the lip crayon so much though. I think it’s a great value!

JL

I received mine in the mail yesterday and received the same exact products and colors. Great value for only $15.

Did any of you get charged both by PUR and by Living Social? I have 2 charge on my paypal account. PUR for $15 and LS for $16.99 – 2 days apart. I can’t think of anything else I purchased from PUR – since I’ve never owned their products before. Thoughts?

JL

No, just once. I know that LS was selling a mystery bag, did you happen to buy their mystery bag as well?

Jen

Yes I just figured it out. I’m out of my mind. Thanks!

Helen

I’d like to get another Mystery bag, but I got the same as Haley’s so I don’t know if there will be different items by now.

I’m waiting for mine to arrive. I really hope there’s some color variation, because I don’t think that brow pencil or eyeshadow trio will work well for me. I know from my shipping notification that I’ll get the same eyeliner and gloss stick, though, and those look great. Your makeup looks perfect as usual, Haley!

Emily, I think the shipping notification mentions the color for the eye shadow trio. I remember mine said matchmaker.

I got my package yesterday. I haven’t tried the eyeshadow yet, but I like the colors and they look so nice on Haley. I love your reviews because we can see how they look on! Thanks for another awesome review!

I really like the gloss stick. Debating whether to get another mystery bag just for the gloss. I mean the gloss alone is $16 while the bag is $15.
