OrangeGlad-January-2016-Crispery

The Crispery Cocoa Concoction CrispyCake (.6 oz.)- $4.25

The first thing I noticed when I took this out of my OrangeGlad box was the size- it’s HUGE! CrispyCakes are marshmallow rice treats, and they’re kind of like Rice Krispy Treats but with an increased proportion of marshmallow to cereal. (CrispyCakes are much softer and more marshmallow-y than traditional Rice Krispy Treats.) I really liked this dessert, but it was too big for me to eat in one sitting. (Not that that’s ever a bad thing!)

OrangeGlad-January-2016-Popcorn

Vanilla Bean and Cocoa Nib Caramelized Popcorn by The Art of Caramel  (4 oz.)- $5.50

This is my second time receiving caramel popcorn from The Art of Caramel in an OrangeGlad box, and boy am I happy they decided to send it again! I love caramel popcorn, and I’m also a big fan of The Art of Caramel’s fun flavor combinations. As soon as I tried this flavor, I couldn’t stop eating it! The caramel coating has the perfect hint of salt, the nibs are nice and crunchy, and the vanilla adds a subtle depth.

OrangeGlad-January-2016-Bar

Tumbador Chocolate Sweet & Salty Bar (2.1 oz.)- $4

Tumbador’s Sweet & Salty Bar pairs milk chocolate with pretzels, peanuts, toffee, and sea salt. I split this bar with my husband, and, sadly, my bites didn’t have a single piece of toffee, peanut, or pretzel! He said that he got a few, but I think it’s safe to say that either a. I got really unlucky or b. Tumbador bars go very light on the mix-ins.

OrangeGlad-January-2016-Ginger

Finally Ginger Oatmeal Cranberry 2 Cookie Pack (1.7 oz.)- $3

Ginger cookies are kind of a “must-have” in my house. We don’t keep a lot of sweets in our cabinets, but there’s usually a pack of something gingery. (These are a favorite!) So, understandably, we did a little dance when we saw these in this month’s OrangeGlad box. My husband wasn’t a huge fan, unfortunately, (he thought they were a little too hard) but I liked them quite a lot.

OrangeGlad-January-2016-Shortbread

Silk Shortbread Butter Cookies- $3.63

OrangeGlad-January-2016-ShortbreadOpen

(Note: I forgot to count how many cookies were included in this packet, so I’ve estimated the value.)

Silk Shortbread calls these shortbread bites “Tea Mates,” since they’re the perfect size to serve on a saucer alongside a cup of tea. OrangeGlad regularly sends shortbread cookies in their boxes, and, while I like shortbread cookies well enough, they’re not something I get super excited about. These were okay. I enjoyed the crumbly texture and small size.

Verdict: Even though I wasn’t blown away by every single item, I’m still very impressed with this month’s OrangeGlad Sweet Box. I really like the new packaging, and I’m thrilled with the size and diversity of the different snacks. There have been a few OrangeGlad boxes in recent months that fell a bit flat for me, so I’m thrilled to see OrangeGlad kicking off 2016 with such a strong box. The value is also really impressive. The retail cost of the items comes to approximately $20, which is fantastic for OrangeGlad. (It might be the highest value I’ve ever seen in one of their boxes!)

4 cookies btw! I know because I umm counted them…but eating them…by myself…all alone…I don’t even feel bad.

This is my absolute favorite food sub box. They have AMAZING customer service. I subscribed and my first box had a key lime cookie in it. I have an anaphylactic allergy to lime oil and had been eyeballing orange glad for a year. This was the first lime product they’d included in that time and they released it as a spoiler prior to my box shipping.

I shot them a Facebook message and asked if I could pause a month for the allergy reason. They said it was too late but I could keep the box free of charge and share it with someone who could eat that, ensured me that the lime product was sealed and boxed separately and had not come in physical contact with the other foods.

They then sent me my next month’s box completely free of charge with a handwritten note that said “sorry your first box had something you couldn’t enjoy!” And my second box was not only free but had two of one item in it to “replace” the item from the prior months box.

Again, all I asked was is it possible to skip this month’s box.

I was blown away. They have been so sweet to customers and I love baked goods, have no other allergen or food restriction except I’m not a big fan of chocolate (and didn’t enjoy treatsie for that reason).

I can’t recommend them enough.

I am so glad that you commented on your experience. I too, have a food allergy and have had items from Taste Trunk and Treatsie that I was allergic to. But because of my allergy, I actually had to give the box to someone else(as the items were not sealed). Treatsie, sent me a duplicate item replacement(oy, vey) and Taste Trunk refused a replacement. It’s nice to know that there is a food sub, that takes allergies seriously and are nice about it! I’ll have to check them out.

I get the “Double Treats” Box and this was one of the best in a long time, even though I really am tired of all the shortbread that gets sent! I’m not really a ginger cookie fan but these were delicious. As for the double treats? The only thing left is a candy bar…

Are coupons or promotions ever offered for this box? I have a major sweet tooth and would like to try it out. The marshmallow treat looks and sounds delicious!

Ah geez my Mini version should be here today. I honestly hope I get the krispycake, I love those things. I’ll probably get the shortbread, ginger cookies and the candy bar though.

We also had basically no mix-ins in our candy bar. Very confusing!

And there were 6 shortbread in the bag, FYI.

Jocelyn

There were four shortbreads in both of my boxes. Are you sure you had six?

Tracy

No, I’m not! Now that you mention it.

Ragan

Thankfully the amount of marshmallow (usually not vegetarian) in this box keeps me from subscribing. Because the picture are always so tempting otherwise!
