This box contains sample-sized products from France, Italy, Japan, and Taiwan.

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sampler Box December 2015 - Pasta

Dried Spicy Pasta Sauce Mix by Marinella- $3.95

Every month, Yummy Bazaar includes one full-sized item in their sampler box, and I love that this month they’ve included a mix for pasta sauce. It’s a combination of dried garlic, chili, parsley, tomato, and salt. To rehydrate, you simply heat the mix in a frying pan with a little olive oil. I always try to keep dried pasta on hand, and this mix will definitely come in handy one night when it’s time to make dinner, but I haven't had a chance to plan a meal.

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sampler Box December 2015 - Sapori

Traditional Taiwanese Scallion Soda Crackers - $.54

According to Yummy Bazaar, Soda Crackers are a Taiwanese specialty. The inclusion of scallions adds a nice savory flavor that makes the crackers especially tasty, I think. Yummy Bazaar recommends serving them with tuna, tomatoes, or cheese, and I love the idea of topping them with tuna salad. I usually add scallions to my tuna salad, so it seems like a natural pairing.

Fig and Walnut Cake Panforte by Sapori- $.85

I love figs, so I was very excited to try this Italian Fig & Walnut Cake from Sapori. It’s soft and creamy, and I like the flavor a lot. It also feels seasonally appropriate and a little festive. (For some reason I always associate figs with the holiday season, even though they aren’t technically a winter fruit. Perhaps it’s because of the “bring us some figgy pudding” line from “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”)

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sampler Box December 2015 - Madelines

French Madeleines by Armor Delices- $1

Madelines are such a classic dessert. Their delicate flavor and diminutive size make them seem so special, and I can’t eat them without feeling just a little bit fancy. This Madeline from Armor Delices is great, and I’m glad that I followed Yummy Bazaar’s instructions to heat it up in the microwave (in the wrapper) for 10 seconds before eating. It was fantastic warm.

Green Tea Kit Kat- $.50

Thanks to food-centric subscription boxes, I first discovered Green Tea Kit Kats about 6 months ago. I’ve received them in boxes several times since then, and I’m a big fan! The subtle taste of green tea works so well with the white chocolate coating and biscuity center. I like these even more than the classic chocolate version!

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sampler Box December 2015 - Chocolat

French Chocolate Powder by A l'Ancienne- $1.05

French hot chocolate! What a treat! “A l’Ancienne’s chocolate powder yields undertones of fruitiness, which blend with the natural vanilla for a subtle and smooth finish.” My french is a little rusty, but I believe the cocoa is mixed with unrefined brown cane sugar to add a little sweetness.

Organic Green Tea by Alce Nero- $.32

This Italian Green Tea by Alce Nero is light and has a pleasant flavor. I don’t think I’ve ever had green tea from Italy before, so it’s fun to see this included in the box. Frankly, it tastes like most other mild green teas, but I’m not complaining. I drink so much tea in the wintertime that I’m happy to receive an extra bag!

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sampler Box December 2015 - Pocky

Strawberry Pocky- $.56

Pocky is another treat that regularly pops up in subscription boxes (and another of my favorites), but I’ve never seen a small sample pack like this before. It’s such a cute size! Pocky has been popular in Japan for a long time, and it’s not too difficult to find Pocky in the US in Asian and specialty grocery stores. Strawberry Pocky is made up of crispy biscuit sticks that are dipped in strawberry cream. They’re really yummy.

Verdict: This is my second sampler box from Yummy Bazaar's Destination Food Club, and I’m very impressed. The items are all high quality, interesting, and delicious. In terms of value, the items in this box total $8.77, which just about breaks even with the cost of the box. I like that Yummy Bazaar’s Sampler Box allows me to discover new specialty food products from around the world, and, so far, I don’t think I’ve received a snack I didn’t like!
