Yogi Surprise Holiday Bonus Box Review December 2015 - card1

Yogi Surprise Holiday Bonus Box Review December 2015 - card2

This was a pretty typical information card for a Yogi Surprise box.  There’s a holiday message on the other side.

Yogi Surprise Holiday Bonus Box Review December 2015 - bracelet

Yogi Surprise Tree of Life Christmas Bracelet – Value $35

This is a custom piece for Yogi Surprise so the only value I can find is the one on the information card (which seems a little inflated).  This is made from clear jade and unakite.  It’s a bit big for my wrist, but I have tiny wrists (they’re only about 5.5 inches).  I may restring it with a couple fewer beads to make it smaller.

Acure Dark Chocolate + Mint Lip Balm – Value $3.99

I don’t get terribly excited about lip balms in subscription boxes because I have so many.  However, I’m a fan of the Acure brand.  This is colorless and mintier than chocolate.

Yogi Surprise Holiday Bonus Box Review December 2015 - candle

Wild Carrot Herbals Peace Cream (2 oz) – Value $13.99

This is full of herbs, extracts, and essential oils that are supposed to contribute to a peaceful sleep.  You can use it as a hand cream (for example) before bed.  It’s too soon to tell if it is working for me, but I am all about getting better sleep – it is connected to so many different parts of health and well-being.

Big Dipper Wax Works Holiday Spice Beehive Glass (4.2 oz) – Value $15.50

This candle is made from 100% beeswax and has a cotton wick.  I love getting candles in subscription boxes and this is a wonderful holiday scent (cinnamon, orange, and clove bud).

Yogi Surprise Holiday Bonus Box Review December 2015 - food

Lucy’s Holiday Sugars Gluten Free Cookies – Value $5.50

These are gluten free, nut free, and vegan.  They’re made with oat, chickpea, fava, and sorghum flours along potato starch and tapioca starch.  The holiday sugars are supposed to have colored sugar on top, but this was barely noticeable.  (Those are limited edition/seasonal so I’ve just linked to the regular sugar cookies.)  I didn’t think these tasted beany, but my fiancé did.  They’re very crunchy and crumbly and many of them fell apart in the package.  I did like them, but I am used to natural snacks with unusual ingredients from trying so many subscription boxes.  If you’re used to well-known supermarket brands and don’t have any dietary restrictions, these may not be for you, however.

Alter Eco Dark Twist Chocolate Bar (2.82 oz) – Value $3.99

This is dark chocolate with candied orange peel.  I haven’t tried it yet (you’ll see why when you read my Escape Monthly review, which is coming up) but I love chocolate and I love candied orange peel so I’m positive I’ll be happy with this.

Yogi Surprise Holiday Bonus Box Review December 2015 - juju

House of Good Juju House Blessing/Cleansing Herb Kit – Value $7

House of Good Juju is an Etsy Seller you’ll see a lot of in Yogi Surprise boxes.  Their herbs always look so beautiful (I’ve gotten a couple of their candles in the past).  If you go to the item page on Etsy (linked above), you’ll see a complicated ceremony for blessing a home or getting rid of negative energies.  It seems like a good way to start off the new year though I will have to settle for walking around the house instead of the property because my back yard is a half acre of jungle and spiders and surprises buried under the ivy (I just moved in, in July and no one lived here for a long time and things got kind of out of control back there…).

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $85 for the Yogi Surprise Holiday Bonus Box.  That’s a pretty good value, even if you knock some of the price off the bracelet.  There’s a nice mix of festive, holiday items (spice candle, chocolate with candied orange peel, sugar cookies) and personal care items that can be used by most people, plus nothing is overtly religious so it is suitable even for non-Christians (the cleansing ritual for the herb kit does make use of a Buddhist mantra, but you could totally say something in line with your own beliefs instead).  If you are a fan of the monthly Yogi Surprise Lifestyle box, you will probably be happy with this, as well.

I’m not sure where to write this. I just received a January box (the monthly I’m guessing). Not only do I have no recollection of subscribing to this box but half the items were missing. It seems awfully light but aside from purchasing one if the “left-over” boxes a while back I didn’t know how many items they contain. I hope their customer service is good and if course they were the larger ticket items!

I got this as a Christmas present and love the contents. They chose some of my favorite brands including a beeswax candle from The Big Dipper and cream from Wild Carrots, which I have been eying on Mountain Rose Herbs’ website.

I’m also not a regular subscriber but every now and then I get one of their boxes for my daughter. I like everything in it and so does she.

I am really happy with this box. I am not a regular subscriber to yogi surprise and ordered this after seeing the candle spoiler. The cream smells wonderful but I cannot confirm the claim of restful sleep. I love the candle, bracelet, and lip balm so those items made this box worth it. Orange and chocolate are not a combination I like at all so I’m saving this for someone else.

I enjoyed this box at least twice as much as the PopSugar for Her box which cost me twice as much. I will order this next year and avoid the PopSugar box.
