Snack Sack Subscription Box Review December 2015 - 2

I really am enjoying this subscription.  I do not frequent health food stores in my area (there aren't many) - so I don't get exposure to a lot of the brands I see in this box!  They also have thrown in coupons and informational cards about several of the brands, which is always nice!

I received quite a few snacks in this box; I kept pulling things out, one after another, thinking “Oooh, there’s more!”  I’ve been attempting to eat better, with more healthful snacks, so I was excited to get this box.

Dandies Vanilla Vegan Puffed Marshmallows - $1.15

I am so excited that these exist!  They are a little big harder than your regular, run of the mill marshmallow, but since they're vegan I am cutting them a lot of slack.  I like marshmallows, but the ingredients are always in the back of my mind a little, removing some of the pleasure from eating them!  These are a wish come true for me.

Nibmore Mint Hot Cocoa - $1.44

Nibmore Traditional Hot Cocoa - $1.44

These are sweetened with organic coconut palm sugar!  I generally add hot cocoa to my coffee, since I prefer a bit of a jolt with my hot drinks.  They recommend adding one packet to warm milk, but also mention that if you add coconut milk instead, they are even more rich.

Snacks 101 Smokey Chipotle Popcorn - $1.69

This was really good popcorn.  The flavor was great, and there was a good amount in the package.

Artisan Tropic Plantain Strips - $2.00

These are great - crunchy, a little sweet, and a little salty.  If you like sweet potato chips, I think you will like these as well.  Try them with some black bean dip!  I think you'll love it!

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review December 2015 - 5

Good Health Sea Salt Potato Chips - $0.60

These are really good, general potato chips.  I don't have much more to say about them than that!  Salty, yummy goodness, cooked with olive oil and sea salt so you can pretend they're a little bit better for you!

Snack Out Loud Crunchy Beans - $1.99

I love these!  They taste like beans, but crunch like nuts.  I think these could definitely become a go to better-for-me salty snack choice!

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review December 2015 - 6

Cosmos Creations Cheddar Puffed Corn - $1.19

I was first introduced to this brand by FabFitFun in the 2015 Spring box.  That caramel puffed corn was out of this world delicious and this is just as good!

Dolcetto Chocolate Wafer Bites - $1.39

These are delicious!  They taste quite similar to the Pirouette wafers you can find in almost any store.

Dolcetto Lemon Wafer Bites - $1.39

I am a huge fan of any lemony sweets and these are no exception.  As soon as I opened the bag I smelled the lemon - they didn't skimp on flavor here.  These are delicious, and I love how the portion controlled bags keep you from over indulging if you're mindlessly snacking.

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review December 2015 - 7

Beanitos Nacho Cheese Bean Chips - $0.89

I think if I were to pick a favorite item from this box, these would be it.  They're so good.  They taste like cheese, but a tiny bit like refried beans too.  They're corn free, all natural, gluten-free, vegetarian, and many more good for you things.  I highly recommend trying these.

Big Slice Kettle Cooked Apples - $2.96

These are great, and probably a lot better for me than the fried ones I like from Cracker Barrel.  When we were in Germany, I had fried potato 'pancakes' with applesauce on top - I can only imagine how much better they would be with these cooked apples on top!  I may have to try it out...

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review December 2015 - 8

Righteously Raw Dark Cacao - $0.79

Righteously Raw Dark Mint Cacao - $0.79

Trujoy Peppermint Choco Chews - $0.60

I really planned on trying these, but I am so chocolated-out from Christmas treats.  I am going to save these for a little treat when I go back to work next week.

Verdict: This SnackSack has a value of about $20.31.  While I wish the product value was a bit higher, I am not disappointed in this shipment.  I really enjoy being introduced to new brands (all of the brands in this box were new to me outside of the Cosmos popcorn), and new products that I can introduce into my everyday lifestyle to replace things I eat that aren't healthful.  I do not live in a big city that has healthier options everywhere you turn, and while it is getting better, as health awareness rises, I still feel like I live in a desert of fast food and junk food.  I greatly appreciate the niche that this box is filling in the box world!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I’m glad you tried most all of the items Bekki- it’s really helpful when deciding whether to sub or not (the flavors sounds so good, I’m going to give it a go!)

I love Dandies. They are stocked at my local Whole Foods. You can even make vegetarian Rice Krispies treats with them, although it takes a bit more work. Or you can, you know, just eat them straight out of the bag like I usually end up doing.

I love Dandies! I don’t eat gelatin and it had been forever since I’d had marshmallows.

Also, Trader Joes sells a vegan brown rice cripsie that are really good!

December was my first month to try SnackSack. I like the little burlap- type sack and was able to use mine to hold a gag gift for my hubby, with the addition of a ribbon tie.
With that said, I was extremely disappointed to see TWO bean- based snacks in the box. Just not good curation, IMO. Like a box which has 2 different bags of flavored potato chips or popcorn. It’s lazy.

I really didn’t see anything special about the subscription as far as food taste or variety and wasn’t pleasantly surprised about any of it.
I cancelled. They were very nice.
