Pop Fashion Club Subscription Box Review December 2015 - items 1

GoGoey Watch – value: $5?

There’s no info card included for this subscription, so it’s hard to find these items online/estimate their values. This watch has a nice design, I think, and I like the crystal accents!

Pearl Flower Hair Pins – value: $1?

I don’t wear my hair up often, but these are pretty. If I don’t end up gifting them, I may try to incorporate these into a couple looks.

Black Swirl-Detail Sunglasses – value: $10?

Again, it’s hard to estimate a value since these have no brand indication on them. These sunglasses feel like an alright quality (nothing amazing, but not poor). They work.

Heart Pendant Necklace Scarf – value: $10?

I couldn’t find this item online exactly, but I found one quite similar. This is something I haven’t seen before! It’s a necklace and scarf combo. If you like wearing scarves a lot, I think this could be a cute and different accessory.

Verdict: My first impressions of Pop Fashion Club are okay. I don’t think the quality of the items proves to be very high, but it feels like it could be more of a teen version of Wantable Accessories.

That necklace scarf was 3.00 at Dollar General last year. There were different types but I have that exact scarf buried somewhere in my closet. I need to see if I can find it and snap a pic of it. It may still have the price tag on it. 🙂

The watch is on sale for 3.69 cents.

Thanks for that info, Bella! Did you find this specific watch for sale online? I had a hard time finding this design to link to. Thanks for reading! =]

Haley do the sunglasses have uv protection? Asking because no matter of the value or lack of I’m hoping any sunglasses received in a box have a uv protection indicated. Even though they might not be the best quality I like swirl design.

At least the pieces in this box match. I’ve never seen a scarf necklace before. Wantable has gone up in price the past few months. I wont resub unless they start including brand name jewelry and brand name accessories. When I got those boxes, either things did not match, or I did not like quality or both.

Lily,

I’d love to get UV protective shades in a sub box, too! Unfortunately, these are not indicated to be so (no sticker or tag or anything – what you see in the review and photos is all the information I had!).

Haley: Thats awful. 🙁 Might be fun as wall decor though. Perhaps there is a way to ad uv coating. I once saw some frames I liked and I found out I could get a polarized coating on them. Due to the quality of the sunglasses not even sure if something like that is possible.
This would make a fun teen box. Yet the price is a bit to high to be a teen box though.

Haley if you have time can you please take a picture with it on, id love to see how it fits around the wrist.

I like everything, especially those funky glasses 🙂 the quality of the items seems right for the price, and it’s a good mix.

I think the review was fair. The items are just okay. I’ve never seen a necklace scarf either and I think it’s cute. If someone wants some fun inexpensive accessories this box would be a good fit. If people don’t like this box that’s okay but I really don’t understand why people have to be so nasty.

It is not “nasty”; it is just truth. And I think we all should think about the real human and environmental costs involved in producing a watch that can retail for less than $5, for example. I see boxes like this and Peaches and Petals (which I did sub to for a month) and they really bother me. We have an economy and culture that support a lot of exploitation of resources and people. The need for super cheap and lots of it is endemic in the US. And most of it just gets tossed because of the lack of quality in both material and construction. Someone somewhere earned about a nickle for all the labor it took to produce those things… and they will fall apart and end up in the landfill in a month. It all makes me sad and I am guilty, too.

Like. So true. We can change the world by “voting” with our dollars.

None of these items are currently on trend- that scarf necklace look was all the rage about 4 years ago. It looks like they bought a bunch of close-outs and repackaged them. Just awful.

Yep, I bought one for my 70 year old mother a few Christmases ago.

Wow – what a bunch of junk! No taste. I don’t think this skews teen, I see these items as very mature if anything. Reviews like this frustrate me. How could the verdict not be poor?

I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way. I think this review was too nice about the obvious shortcomings of this box. The estimated value of this box is actually less than the cost of subscription. That doesn’t even take into account that I think the estimate for the scarf was way too generous. The only time I’d ever consider purchasing a box that has a sub cost that is equal to the value is if the value is in the curation and exclusivity of the box.

This is not exclusive or meticulously curated. My grandma actually mailed me that exact necklace scarf as a gift. I think she told me she found it in chinatown. I took all the charms off and it really isn’t so bad now, lol.

Looks like a bunch of dollar store junk to me.
