Meowbox is a monthly subscription box for cats filled with fun, unique toys, and natural, grain-free, organic, or locally-made treats.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Meowbox

The Cost: $32.95 a month (save with longer subscription plans)

The Products: 5-7 toys and treats per month for your cat.

Good to know: Meowbox will substitute non-food items for cats with special dietary requirements.  (There is a box to check during the signup process if you want to do this.)  And for every Meowbox you buy, they give one can of food to a shelter cat!

Ships to: US (free shipping), Canada, and the UK (not sure of shipping costs for those last two)

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - lid

I love this – they wrote my cats’ names inside the lid!  (Also…I had some “help” taking the photos, as you can see…)

Here’s a look at the items.

Check out the Pet Subscription Box Directory for more great boxes for your cat(s)!

Included was an information card detailing the items in the box.  Seriously, Monkey wanted to be in every photo…

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - vitakraft

Vitakraft Purrk! Playfuls Stimulating Cat Toy (Perky Bird) – Value $4.79

This has something in it called Feline Silvervine which is a plant that is supposed to be even more interesting to cats than catnip.  Monkey loved this thing so much, I had to take it away from him at night because he was making too much noise with it.

Vitakraft Purrk! Munchies KitBits Semi-Moist Treats – Value $4.29

I remember Vitakraft from the days when I had a lot of pet rodents.  I don’t think I even realized they made stuff for cats.  Sneaky and Madison loved these.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - toys

From the Field – Chewy the Hemp Rope – Value $1.79

This was absolutely the most popular item this month.  When playtime was over, this thing was wet from cat saliva and pretty much destroyed.

SPOT Ethical Products Skinneeez Mallard – Value $5.48

My cats didn’t show a ton of interest the first day, but someone discovered this later as it is pretty beaten up now.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - urineoff

Bio-Pro Research Urine-Off (4 oz) – Value $2.52

Every now and then, someone “misses” the litter box.  So this will come in handy.

And now, some gratuitous cat photos:

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - kitties

Another Monkey/Madison face-off, this time over the hemp rope.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - madison

Madison loving the hemp rope (it is HARD to photograph black cats!).

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - monkey

Monkey with his new love, the feline silvervine bird.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - mrkitty

Mr. Kitty with some of the toys from the box.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review November 2015 - sneaky

And Sneaky biting the feline silvervine bird.  Because that’s what she does – bites things you hold in front of her.  I never get tired of it…

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $19 for the November 2015 Meowbox.  That’s quite low for the cost of a subscription, although you can bring the price down with a coupon code and/or buying a longer term subscription, making it a better value.  It’s also a big drop-off from last month.  It helps, in my case, that I have multiple cats, so everything is usually a hit with at least one of them.  I’m hoping to see an increase in value next month, though.

Hi Ragan! This doesn’t really have to do with the box itself, but do you know what kind of cat Monkey is? We rescued a kitten from outside years and years ago and her coloring and fluffiness look just the same. We assumed she was part maine coon at least, but she looks so similar to Monkey I thought I’d ask!

First of all, KITTIEEEEEEEES!! XD Omg, so cute. I have a black cat too and he is indeed hard to photograph. It’s frustrating – he’s so handsome! 🙂

I was ready to sign up for this sub until I saw how much it costs. $19 is indeed crazy low for a $33 sub. Yikes. I’ll keep an eye on your reviews to see how much they average out.

I have just two cats so I’m SO not guaranteed that all items will be a hit.

Ragan your cats are adorable. Yes black cats are hard to photograph. LOL. I have 3 cats that I rescued and kept. Cant wait to see more reviews on different boxes for them. Thanks.

Thank you for the review. I went ahead and signed up for a 6 month subscription, and found a coupon also, which brought the price down to just a little over $20 a box. My dogs already get two boxes… so glad that the cats will now have their own!

I love your reviews and the helpful cats! I always have fur helpers when I’m trying to film videos, or pretty much anything. LOL. I’m still searching for the best box for my fur herd of 7 cats. I like that you give the values of the products and realize some months are going to be more bang for your buck than others. Great review and I look forward to next months!

I hope to be able to try out some other cat boxes in the coming months. There are quite a few choices.

Your kitties are adorable! I would love to get a pet box to treat my kitties but I do worry about the overall cost per month (and I am only getting one box that is monthly myself).

Aw, that’s too bad. I was going to sub to this one because I figured my cat deserved a monthly box of goodies too! But nearly half the value of the sub? Noooo thanks. That’s never acceptable. Not even once.

I love your cats! So cute!!

Ngl, I read your reviews mainly to see photos of your cats/dog.

I really need one of the weekend giveaway boxes to be “paw-tographed” by Ragan’s cats. They’re all so cute, and Sneaky is just soooo extra-cute. Must stop reading these reviews before I end up getting a fourth cat…

Love the review and am going to pick up the rope and bird for my cat. I wouldn’t buy the box though, the value just isn’t there.

Fluffy black cats are so cute!

I love cat photos, and I thank you! But I really don’t see how you can gloss over a $19 value for a box that costs almost twice that. I know MSA wants reviews to be upbeat, but $19 for a $32 box????

They’d get hand fatigue if they had to write the names of my ten cats.

I’m sorry you think I glossed over it. I think it is possible to like the items while also acknowledging the value was low this month. I did mention in the final paragraph several ways to get more value out of the subscription and say that I hope the value improves next month. I have not gotten this subscription for enough months to say whether it is always low or always high — last month it was about $40, so it may be that the value averages out over time. Also, many of these products are from smaller companies and may not be available without paying individual shipping costs, so you have to factor that in, as well.

If you get a six-month subscription, it’s $23 per month, and a coupon would knock off more than that, allowing you to break even. This may be one of the ones that is better if you buy in for the long term.
