Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - box

Love with Food is a monthly snack and food sampling subscription box.  They send only natural and organic snacks and donate a meal to charity for each box sold.  They offer a smaller “tasting” box with 8+ snacks per month, a “deluxe” box with 16-20 snacks per month, and a gluten free box with 10-15 gluten free snacks per month.  This is a review of the deluxe box.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - list

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - list2Each Love with Food box comes with a brochure listing all the products.  I really like that they list all the ingredients here and indicate which are vegan, gluten-free, etc.

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - bar

Maui Whites Natural Cane Sugar (2 packets) – Value $0.64

I think this was probably included to put in the tea (see below).  Since I don’t sweeten my tea, I put it in Crio Bru.  It was good sugar, but I can never remember far enough ahead to order sugar so I usually just pick up the store brand stuff at Whole Foods.

18 Rabbits Jr. Organic Granola Bar in Caramel Apple – Value $1.08

This was a nice fall flavor and I could actually detect little pieces of apple in there. I much prefer bars with interesting textures (as opposed to protein bars with uniform, homogenized textures), so this was a win for me.

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - brownie

Brownie Brittle in Salted Caramel (2 x 1 oz.) – Value $2

These were created by a lady who enjoys the crunchy edges of brownies.  Which I totally don’t understand.  The gooey undercooked center is where it’s at.  (And this item is thus the worst invention ever…)  In all seriousness, though, I did like these.  You could definitely taste both the caramel and salt flavors, and the chocolate provided a nice background.

Bella Rustico Sesame Tocchetti (2 x 0.7 oz) – Value $1.66

This was one of the few savory snacks this month.  They were softer than I expected them to be (a good thing) and the sesame flavor was mild.

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - chips

Dirty Original Recipe Sweet Potato Chips (1.5 oz) – Value $1.10

These also fit nicely with the salty/sweet theme that seems to be going on this month.  I don’t buy potato chips because I would eat the entire bag in one or two sittings, but I do enjoy them when they come in subscription boxes.  These have a very simple ingredients list and I thought they were delicious.

479 Degrees Popcorn in Pumpkin Pecan Praline (5.25 oz) – Value $3.58

I’ve had other flavors of 479 Degrees popcorn before, thanks to subscription boxes, but I think this is one of my favorites.  It has a definite caramel corn feeling to it, although I can kind of taste the pumpkin as well.

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - grahams

Back to Nature Honey Graham Sticks (1 oz) – Value $0.75

I’ve had these before and almost certainly from Love with Food because they have honey, so they wouldn’t have been in a vegan food box.  I always thought they would make an excellent cheesecake crust if I could find them in a bigger box instead of individual snack packs.  I should check Whole Foods; I know they sell this brand.

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Snapper – Value $1?

Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Snapper – Value $1?

These were probably my favorite items from the month.  (Values are a bit of a guess because you got one cluster in each package, but these are sold in 6 and/or 12 ounce packages on the site.)  They are clusters of pretzels and chocolate and other things and after I ate the first one, I immediately devoured the other.  They do have a bit of a tendency to fall apart, though.

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - small

Gourmet Center Biscoff (2) – Value $0.38

Love with Food usually includes a handful of smaller items, as well.  I am pretty sure I’ve never had these cookies outside the context of an airplane flight before.  They’re nice if you want a little something sweet without going overboard.

Monbana Milk Chocolate Squares (2) – Value $0.25?

Monbana Dark Chocolate Squares (2) – Value $0.25?

This brand does not appear to be readily available in the US.  I think the chocolate was decent and I like the small size.  It’s enough to get a bit of a chocolate fix without eating a whole candy bar.  (Can you tell I have a problem with eating too many sweets?)

Dilettante Raspberry Chocolate Truffles (3) – Value $0.50?

These had a dark chocolate coating and a soft raspberry center.  I have always liked chocolate/fruit combinations so of course I enjoyed these.  (Actually, I was really happy with all the chocolate this month…)

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - tea

David’s Tea in “The Skinny” – Value $0.25?

This is oolong and pu’erh tea with ginger, orange peel, and eleuthero root.  (I had to look this last one up.  It’s also known as Siberian ginseng.)  Oolong and pu’erh can be kind of strong, but I found this to be pretty good if I removed the tea bag after 5 minutes.

David’s Tea in “Forever Nuts” – Value $0.25?

This has apple, almonds, cinnamon, and beets for color, and it reminds me of some other tea I’ve had.  I’ve been trying to remember for days what the other tea was and I can’t (am guessing something in a sampler from Stash Tea).  I love almond flavors and the cinnamon wasn’t too strong, so this was a hit.  Note: values here are guesses.  David’s Teas seem to only be sold in loose form.

Love with Food Deluxe Box Review & Coupon November 2015 - coupons

There were also a few coupons for some of this month’s brands included in the box.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $14.69 for the November 2015 Love with Food Deluxe Box.  On one hand, that is almost $5 under the price of a monthly subscription.  However, there are usually a lot of deals and coupons available for this box which can bring the cost down quite a bit.  Also, you can review the snacks in your box for points that you can then use towards more snack items in the Love with Food shop.  I’m happy with the items I got because, for the most part, they were new to me and this was an all-vegetarian month (this is not promised to be a vegetarian subscription, but I have usually found it to be a good option for those of us who don’t eat meat but are fine with getting dairy, eggs, and honey).  The value of this subscription does jump around some and this seems to have been on the low end, but I expect it to balance out in future months.

I loved this box. But it was the last on my year subscription and I had already decided not to renew. I loved it in the beginning but felt like the last several boxes weren’t great for me. Of course, this and last month’s were awesome.

The Snappers are awesome! And I was stunned to find them in my local Publix AND CVS!

I did not need to know that. I shop at Publix every week. Now I have to avoid the aisle that has them. Because I don’t need all those calories!

;D

FYI: I found them in the deli, among the various gourmet-esque snacks. So that’s where you’ll want to avoid./helpful

I was really disappointed with Love with Food this month. Too many sweets for “snack” box and I disliked most of what I tried (I wanted the sesame snacks to be crunchy…they seemed stale with the soft texture). When the preview for December basically said chocolate, I knew I didn’t want to spend money on another sweets box. I wish there was a box that focused solely on savory snacks.

Wow, shipping for the Snappers is steep 🙁

Some of them are Prime-eligible on Amazon if you want to go that route, instead.
