This box came with a fold out sheet detailing their latest beauty item – the whipped matte lip mousse.

Julep Nail Color in Tish – Retail Value $14

This is a full-coverage micro-glitter. Here it is on (from Julep):

This seems so festive and already has me thinking of New Year’s Eve!

Julep Orbital Eyeshadow in Eclipse – Value $18

This slate color also has pearlescence in the formula, and I think the result is wearable smoky, subtly shimmery color. The pigment is pretty good, but I would definitely recommend wearing it with a quality eyelid primer. (Swatched in later photo).

Julep It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse in Kiss Me – Value $20

I was excited to try this new product, and I think it was named well! It has a matte finish while still being somewhat moisturizing. The color is gorgeous and the pigment is great too. The only thing I had an issue with is that this isn’t an “all day wear” product like it says in the description. (To be fair, I don’t think I’ve found any lip product that really lives up to that promise). After eating I had to completely reapply the product. Not a big deal – but thought it was worth mentioning.

Swatched below:

This box also came with bonus candy and a coupon code for $10 off your next Julep order of $20 or more. (Expires January 31st, 2016).

Verdict: I think this is a perfect holiday box from Julep. Festive polish, sparkly smoky eye, and a berry lip – they’ve covered it all! What do you think of the December 2015 Julep Maven box? Which items did you pick this month?

  1. I personally had the opposite experience with their lip sticks and mine’s been stuck on all day! I think it really matters how you apply the lipstick and let it set before doing anything.

    • I do think there is a technique. I apply it first then wipe and apply it again and don’t drink or eat anything for at least 30 to 1 hour. This really helps!

    • I completely agree! My lasts ALL day!! I put it on at 9am and took it off at 9pm. I wonder if the shade matters, some pigments can hold a little better than others. I had on the nude/brown one. I would also say that the colors apply a bit darker on the lips (once they oxidize) than in the tube.

    • I also had no issue with it. This lasts all day and even at night. I also apply it blot and apply a little more and don’t drink or eat for at least 30 min and it lasts and lasts. I really love this lip stick and even purchased another one. Really beautiful and velvety!

  2. Being a liquid lipstick newbie that I am, my application needs some practice. I have found those Stilla liquid lipstick minis to actually withstand eating and drinking. It did take a few makeup remover clothes to get it off my lips though. And I have to be careful because the bottle design allows a ton of product to come out on the doe foot. Other than that I like it though!

  3. Julep also has a Gilt City deal going on right now… three months for $39, which is the normal price for two. Then you can customize what you get – I greatly prefer that, because I ADORE Julep’s body/skin products but do not need another nail polish to save my life.

    • Is it possible to customize for just body/skincare products? Because I love their stuff too, but don’t wear makeup or nail polish. I’ve been interested in a box for a while, but wasn’t sure if they would work for me.

      • You can choose not to get nail polish. I think the one time I chose not to get nail polish the beauty/skincare only option came with two things, vs. the others that have two nail colors plus one beauty/skin item, but they might have other variations depending on the value of what they’re offering each month.

      • Yep! there is a beauty box that doesn’t include polish. Always has a great selection, you can usually customize it, and you can always skip the month (at no cost) if you don’t want any of those products.

  4. LOVE that polish! The only lip products that stay on the entire day for me are Covergirl Outlast and Maybelline 24. I can’t wear them everyday because they dry out my lips,so I switch to Julep conditioning lip treatment or Pacifica Devocean on days that I can reapply.

  5. I’m on a neverending search for a long-wear (preferably transfer-resistant) lipstick that doesn’t feel like caked mud. This was comfortable, but yeah… Didn’t last too long. My beef with the lipstick as well as the shadow I got was that neither one looked anything like what I was expecting. I went with “Pucker Up” because, to me, it looked like a nice purple. It turned out to be way more pink than I’d have expected. With the eyeshadow, I got what looked like a pretty purple in the pan but ended up going on as a gold glitter. Not pearlescence. Glitter, and messy glitter at that. I’m usually pretty satisfied with Julep, but these two completely bombed for me.

    • I got the Pucker Up too and definitely agree that the color was much more pink than I was expecting and nothing like the images on the site. I like the color on me, but it definitely isn’t what I expected.

  6. I need that nail polish!!!!

Lip wise, Kat Von D lipstick is the only thing that lasts me through lunch. However, some shades last for shorter period of time than others.
