Palm Leaf Basket – Value $12

Each box comes with some of the contents packaged in a palm leaf basket. This month the introduced a new square-shaped basket. I love the new design, but I was a little surprised to see no lid! Open storage it is!

  1. I’m sort of bummed to only see this posting now. I literally just got back from Guatemala and saw these in the shops. but didnt buy any 🙁 Now I wanted to select the “home” option through this offer, but it is no longer valid.

  2. Hi Luisa and Laurie,

Liza here from GlobeIn. I am very sorry that you are disappointed with the baskets this month.

Although artisan products always feature small size/design variations, the short baskets that you received were never meant to be shipped out. This month we shipped our boxes through the fulfillment center for the first time so we were not able to do the quality control check ourselves. Please email us at support (at) globein (com) with the photo of your basket and we will send you a replacement one right away.

We wanted to try the new square basket design since it is a signature product of one of our artisans, Don Juan. We are using feedback from our customers (like you!) to decide whether we will continue with the square baskets or not.

If the square baskets featured a lid would you be happy with them or you would still prefer to receive the round baskets?

    • For me, yes, a lid would make me get ALL square baskets, most likely. I LOVE the shape and the way the different patterns look in this different shape, but the lack of a lid really, really limits my uses.

    • The square basket would be MUCH better with a lid, but I still strongly prefer the old basket style.

    • Hi Liza,

I received a normal square basket and I loved having a different one! I think adding a lid would be a major plus, however. Alternating months between the round and square baskets (or any other shapes) would be a great idea. Alternatively, making the boxes more customizable – choosing box shape, color of the hero item, etc. would go over very well!

    • I actually love the square baskets! A lid would be great, but I love them either way (as long as they’re the taller ones).
So for me personally, I’d prefer the square baskets (and it may be bc I’ve gotten round ones for a few months now… but I think overall, I’d love the square ones!)

    • Hi Liza –

I wouldn’t say I was disappointed in the baskets so much as surprised by how much shorter they were. Thank you for offering to replace them, however! I love the shape – I think they would be great for holding those square boxes of Kleenex, and the square shape would help them fit in drawers better for storage. A lid would be great, but I’m not sure it’s necessary IMHO.

  3. I will be looking to swap for a seahorse pillow! I have multiple boxes coming, I will probably put up my popsugar Mercury candle, headband, I have the tarte box coming, the beauty fix, boxycharm, if anyone’s looking to swap let me know!

  4. I thought the pillow pets were adorable, although I’ve no idea what I’m going to do with them. Both of my baskets were shorter, however – almost more like lids.

    • Mine too – in the artisan box. The new style basket was not only square, which is fine, it has a smaller circumference, has no lid, and is far shorter than not only the previous style but mine was maybe 2/3 the height of the one in the GlobeIn pic and Liz’s. As you said, Laurie, like a lid, or maybe a tray. My sense is that this isn’t just a variation, it’s an effort to save money/manufacturing-time by sending a much smaller basket. I’m disappointed, I was looking forward to having a bunch of the original one in different colors for storage, so I hope this tiny tray-basket isn’t the norm going forward. I do love the seahorse though.

      • My basket in the Artisan basket was the same height has the smaller bowl that was included. I was dissapointed as I was looking forward to the square size, and although I knew it wasn’t coming with a lid, I expected it to taller so I could still use it to store things but like others have said…it was more like a lid

  5. Just a heads up, if you choose to select your fist box they send that one in addition to the monthly, not instead, so you get 3 boxes, but the first two come immediately. Because of the timing of when I signed up, all of my boxes were sent in a 31 day period, not over the course of 3 months. Something to consider.
