Doki Doki by Japan Crate Subscription Box Review December 2015 - 2

The box:  Doki Doki by Japan Crate

The cost:  $30.00/month

The products:  Everything kawaii

Ships to:  Internationally with a few exceptions - you can find those here

As soon as I saw this bubble gum pink box, I knew I was in for some fun!

Doki Doki by Japan Crate Subscription Box Review December 2015 - 3

Nya-Kuma plush bear - $12.00?

This is a bear wearing cat pajamas and it is absolutely adorable.  It is also very soft and plush and comes with a suction cup to stick to your car/bedroom/office window (I'm assuming here - I don't know why else it would have a suction cup!)

Chibi Totoro - $19.99?

This price seems outrageous to me for this tiny little stuffed creature, but it seems to be the going price for these little things!  Again, it's very soft, and this one comes with some bean like filling that I am guessing is to keep it standing upright.

Panda Sleep Mask - $3.00

This is a very cute, but very inexpensively created sleep mask.  It is a very cute novelty item, that I'm sure someone would love!

Alpacasso Coin Purse - $2.38

The informational card for this Doki Doki shipment included this little tidbit as to why they included this item "In Japan, coins are used for most transaction $5 or less, so coin purses are very common.  Keep your coins safe in this adorable Alpacasso coin purse!"  This is also very soft compared to most stuffed animals these days!

Hello Kitty Blind Box - $9.95

I'm not sure which Hello Kitty I got, but she's definitely cute!  This figurine stands about 3 - 4 inches tall, so it's a pretty good size!  It has some heft to it, so it seems well made for sure.  This will be passed along to my Hello Kitty obsessed niece!

Henshin Awa Jelly DIY Kit - $2.25

Another DIY kit!  I've received quite a few of these lately, and they're fun for the kiddos.  It's a very low commitment way for kids to make their own snacks.  Obviously, they're not the most healthful, so it's probably most practical for a once in a while fun treat.

Totoro Zipper Pouch - $10.00?

This is would be a great pencil pouch!  I have so many pouches at this point in my life, that I have them coming out of my ears.  This seems to be well made enough that it will hold up for a while as a pencil pouch - since I'm starting back to college next month, I'm focused on school supplies!

Charizard Pikachu necklace - $5.00?

This is cute and threw me back to the early 2000s when Pikachu was super popular here in the states.  I don't wear jewelry, so it will be passed along, but I think it was a great addition to the box.

Totoro Desk Calendar 2016 - $15.98

This is absolutely adorable and the perfect addition to a December box.

The verdict:  I really enjoyed this box!  It definitely seemed like a great mix of all things kawaii.  The value I came up with, which is very approximate - because some of the items I couldn't find, while others seemed a bit high - was $80.55.  I think that is an amazing value for a $30 box, even if some of the items are a little inflated.  I really liked the fact that some of the items were functional while others were completely for fun.

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Just wanted to post a heads up to anyone thinking of subscribing to their DokiDoki Crate, everything included has been confirmed to be counterfeit merchandise. Please support the anime industry and legit business and do not buy from this company. Even large figure manufacturers like GoodSmile Company have posted warnings about this company.

I also received Dokidoki’s first box and loved it. Totoro is my favorite Studio Ghibli character. I felt like the folks at Japan Crate read my mind when they were packing these.
