Citrus Lane is a subscription box for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. (They customize your box to your child’s age and gender).

FYI – this is the last month ever of Citrus Lane’s subscription. You can read our posts about the details here and here.

The box I’m reviewing today is for a newborn (gender neutral). I had my son (my first baby!) in September!

Citrus Lane Subscription Box Review December 2015 - info 1

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included and explaining that month’s “theme” or focus. (This card says my box includes “a special stuffed friend,” but it actually doesn’t. Everything else is accurate, though. Just FYI.

Pipsquigz Suction Toy – value: $6?

I thought this toy was odd when I first saw it and wondered how a kid would play with it. But when I looked it up for the value, I realized that it’s sold as 1 piece of a 3-piece set, which lets the kids stick them together and stack them and such. I’m not really happy to have received 1/3 of a toy set (especially when it doesn’t seem like there’s much to do with just one piece). I think this might show a little carelessness since it’s their last shipment.

Bumkins Toy Tether – value: $4?

I couldn’t actually find this online. This will likely be handy in the future!

Day & Night book from Petit Collage – value: $5.99?

Again, I couldn’t find this specific book for sale so I based the value off of similar books from Petit Collage. I’m happy to have this book! My son has lots of books, but I like that this one is very beginner and just helps with learning words first.

My First Stacker from Green Toys – value: $14.99

Stacking toys are a classic. I’m glad to have these since we actually don’t have anything like these for him just yet.

Verdict: Sad to say, but I’m underwhelmed with my last Citrus Lane box. I only really cared for half of the products, and one of the items was one-third of a toy set. My estimated value is just over $30, which breaks even. Even though this month wasn’t the best for me, last month was one of my favorites, and I’m ultimately sad to see them go!

I also received my baby boy’s December and January boxes… Last month my box was damaged (doesn’t matter now!) This month’s box was okay, the cookies we’re took hard for my 9 month old. I hate that they’re shutting down, So sad. I always looked forward to them each month. Oh well. I should receive a refund for February. Honestly I rather get a box instead.

I got a box for a 2-year-old. They emailed saying I’d get a January box too, and a refund on the two remaining unfulfilled months of my sub. Well, my December box only had four items, and had a “goodbye” note – no sign of my January box or a refund for the remaining value on my sub.

Inside my box I got: chocolate chip cookies (the note said they were more me, not my little one), a Melissa and Doug clock puzzle toy, a tiny book, and a Green Toys sandwich stacker.

The sandwich stacker is normally sold in a set, so I don’t think it’s particularly fun on its own.

Although this month wasn’t good for me, last month’s was pretty good.

I’d really appreciate a timeline from Citrus Lane (or an explanation?) concerning my remaining box and my refund. I’ve noticed it’s been taking them about three days to respond to email, which is discouraging.

I made an order three weeks ago from their shop. Still no shipping notice and no response to my customer service inquiry. Le sigh. They were always great before but I guess I shouldn’t have been so trustworthy.

I got my last box, two out of four items were different from the card and what was actually in my box, I also have an infant subscription and they gave me chocolate chip cookies….I’m sure he will love them in a year! Good snack for mom I guess! Apparently supposed to get a January box still my email said they would mail them together however I only got four items. Loved this company a lot until they announced they were closing 🙁

I just got my box in the mail yesterday and it was the same as yours except I recieved a stuffed animal instead of stackers. There wasn’t even the normal fold out card in mine. I am still missing a duplicate box from last month that they said I would recieved. I’m emailing their customer service and it takes about 3 days for each reply. So sad this company is going out in an awful way

I think it’s interesting that you got the stuffed toy in place of the stackers like my card said I was supposed to!
