Treats ships their boxes wrapped in kraft paper which is fun to open! The box is a heavy weight, white box. It wouldn’t be easy to crush this one during shipping! Inside, the snacks are wrapped with tissue paper with a sticker holding it closed and a cute note card on top. It amazes me every month how much they pack into this box!
This month the snacks all come from Mexico! Treats included a postcard of Guanajuato, Mexico, and wrote this on the back: "This month's Treats come from Mexico, a country that loves its spicy snacks. As you dig into these Treats, you will find spicy flavoring on all manner of snacks, from peanuts to chips to candy. You will also discover innovative sweets made with marshmallows, and other unique culturally significant snacks such as goat milk lollipops (cajeta), of which its staple ingredient, cajeta, has been a popular Mexican snack since the Mexican War of Independence in 1810. Sit back, relax, and take a culinary journey to Mexico. -Buen Provecho, Roger Jin"

The information card Treats sent included this (I'll include Treats description in quotes at the beginning of all my text): "Known as the "King of Chocolates" in Mexico, Carlos V chocolates are named after King Carlos V of Spain, the monarch who first introduced chocolate to the courts of Europe." This was a decent chocolate bar - better than Hershey's lately anyway. it was a bit harder than the chocolate I'm used to eating, but the flavor was nice. Would I gravitate to it over other chocolate? Probably not!
"Bubu Lubus are strawberry flavored marshmallow candy bars coated in milk chocolate. Bubu Lubus are one of the most popular candies in Mexico, and many people prefer to eat them frozen." I have seen the Bubulubu truck driving around my area, but have never had the chance to try one. Once I read that many people eat them frozen, I knew I had to try it that way. I haven't had a chance to yet, but I think this may be delicious!
"Paleta Payasos are giant marshmallow lollipops coated in chocolate. The motto of this treat is "Face of Fun" (*La Cara de la Diversion") introduced in 1972, it was initially made with corn flakes and coated in chocolate." These look like a lot of fun for children, so I'm saving these for a friend's little ones. This box seems pretty heavy on marshmallow treats, that's for sure!
Ruffles Queso by Sabritas - $1.00
"Takis are mini roll-shaped tortilla corn chips, and Fuego is its hottest and most popular flavor. Takis Fuegos as the unique tase of being spicy, salty, and tangy at the same time." A few months ago my household was introduced to Takis. I hadn't tried them before and I immediately became a fan. They might be hot enough to burn my tongue off, but they, at least they tasted great while it lasted. My husband and I actually fought over this bag, and they were gone in a day, despite the fact that both of us were breathing fire. I'm pretty sure they're terrible for me and will eat my stomach from the inside out, but yeah...I'll probably buy them again.
"Ruffles Quesos (cheese in Spanish) are cheese flavored Ruffles with a spicy kick. Extremely addictive, "a que no puedes comer solo una" (we bet you can't eat just one)" I had these a few months back and really enjoyed them. I typically don't buy chips for the house - while I enjoy them, I just don't think about them to eat them before they go stale. I would totally buy this flavor if I could find it more widely available though.
Pulparindo by De La Rosa - $5.25
"Mamuts are chocolate-dipped marshmallow cookies and are a Mexican take on the American Moon Pie and the Korean Choco Pie." These taste like every other marshmallow pie...not much to say about them!
"Pulaprindos are a spicy candy made from the pulp of tamarind fruit, and flavored with sugar, salt, and chili peppers. Like Takis Fuego, it has the simultaneous flavors of being spicy, tart, and salty at the same time." These are delicious. When I was in Jr. High, Mexican candy was the 'in thing' to eat at school. It was literally everywhere - and so I have been eating it since. I know it's terrible for me, but since I eat junk food rarely (which I'm sure it doesn't seem like from these reviews), I figure a little bit of it isn't going to kill me. Everything in moderation is my motto!

Cacahuates Peanuts by Sabritas - $0.60
"Arcoiris are marshmallow cookies made with puffy marshmallows and coconut flakes on top of a biscuit. The combination of marshmallow and biscuit make Arcoiris both soft and crunchy to the bite." These remind me of Hostess Sno Balls, minus the cake of course. It's so fluffy I'm going to die!
"Paleton de Cajetas are traditional lollipops made from caramelized goat's milk (cajeta). Cajetas have history dating back to 1810, when they were used to supply troops in the Mexican War of Independence." I love cajeta and dulce de leche, so I was excited to see these. I'm not the world's biggest fan of suckers, in fact, quite the opposite, but I gave these a try. They remind me a bit of See's suckers. I was impressed that they sent 10 of these! The flavor is pretty good, but again, I'm not a fan of suckers. I'll probably pass the rest of these along to friends.
"Cacahuates ("peanuts" in Spanish) are seasoned and roasted peanuts produced in three flavors: Sabor Caliente (hot), Sabor Limon (Salt & Lime) and Joponés (Japanese Style)." I haven't tried these yet, because I've hit my limit of spicy today. I'm sure they're delicious!
The verdict: The value of this Treats box was $25.94. I suspect that it's a little higher, because several products I found in bulk packaging. Still, the value exceeds the cost of the box (even if only by a small amount), and the curation is excellent! I feel like I know a bit more about Mexican snack foods, and I've enjoyed everything I've tried. With that said, if you're not a fan of spicy, or marshmallows, this box may have been a miss for you! On a positive note, there was chocolate included in this box, and it didn't melt! Yay for cooler weather!!!
