Scentbird Subscription Box Review November 2015 - BOX

Scentbird is a perfume sampling subscription box that sends you 100% authentic perfumes every month. When you sign up, you take a preferences quiz to help them suggest recommendations for you to try, and you can also go browse and rate the rest of their selection to make the recommendations even more accurate. You can build a queue of fragrances you’d like to try or you can let yourself be surprised every month.

Because this subscription is so heavily personalized, the fragrance I selected to review this month is specific to my own preferences and choice.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription: Scentbird

The Cost: $14.95/monthly, $14.50/month with a 3-month plan, $14/month with a 6 month plan, or $13.50/month with a year plan.

The Products: One 8 ml spray atomizer of a 100% authentic perfume

Scentbird Subscription Box Review November 2015 - INFO 1

Recently, they introduced Scentbird Muses – basically, they’re having social media celebrities choose and endorse the Perfumes of the Month.

Along with the fragrance you receive each month, Scentbird also includes a card describing the “perfume of the month” for the next month, selected by the featured “muses.” November’s perfume of the month is Dot by Marc Jacobs. I’ve actually tried this fragrance before (I own a rollerball), and I really like it!

Scentbird has announced their gift sets! These are limited-edition sets of 3 fragrances in 3 different color cases, plus a free month of Scentbird. You can browse their gift sets here.

With your first month’s delivery, you receive a perfume case that fits your 8 ml sprays inside – this card details how to use it!

The purse spray case you get with your first month is black, and comes with the sample vial inside. Recently they received feedback that subscribers wanted the option to order more cases, and they listened! This pink case is limited edition but you can now add-on extra cases to your delivery for $12.95, and you can also choose between red and black! This is what a (limited edition) pink case looks like (closed).

And here you can see it open. I have to say that that these atomizer cases are probably my favorite part of this subscription for me. The cases have a nice weight, are sleek, and feel high quality. It’s super easy to open and close, and to switch perfumes you just open, pull the vial out, and place the next one inside!

The black case is the case that comes standard with your first-month of your subscription, but you can purchase extra cases! (They also have a slate grey case that didn’t fit in the screenshot). I love all their colors and how nice they look on these metal atomizers!

The fragrance I received this month is Princess Night by Vera Wang. It’s categorized under “Party, Mysterious, and Fruity.” Its main notes include sugar cane, vanilla, raspberries, watermelon, and red berries.

I’m actually really happy with this perfume pick! It’s fruity and musky and definitely smells sophisticated, sexy, and mysterious. It’s perfect for fall or “going out” or for date night. It’s sweet but balanced and definitely doesn’t smell too young. My husband loves this scent on me!

The Verdict:  I love that Scentbird has such a large selection and variety and includes lots of high-end brands that I recognize as well as lesser-known perfumes for me to try! Also, you can always email them requests for specific fragrances. They keep a list of perfumes they plan on adding, and requests for specific fragrances add to that list or bump them up in priority.

As far as value goes, it’s hard to say for this month because the perfume was limited edition! I think that aspect adds to the value for sure, since I can’t seem to get it many other places, if at all. The monetary value for this sub often just depends on how expensive the fragrance sells, and also whether or not a rollerball/travel spray size is available retail.

Scentbird also recently began their men’s subscription for colognes, as well, and you can add them to your queue even if you have a “women’s subscription.”

If you’re interested in trying out Scentbird, they offer some of my favorite (and popular) fragrances to try: Prada CandyLancome La Vie Est Belle, and Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy are just some of my recommendations!

Starting at $16.95

I am having a heck of a time picking fragrances I like through Scentbird. Seems like everything I choose is fruity or floral even if I *think* it is going to be musky/woody/spicy/Oriental. Maybe that is just my body chemistry. I will keep trying…

I’ve had a little trouble, too, and find that most scents I think I’ll love, I don’t care for (like Burberry Brit and MJ Decadence). However, a few that I didn’t think I’d like have become my favorites (like YSL Black Opium and Hanae Mori).

I recommend Tom Ford Black Orchid if you want a completely different scent profile. It’s amazing and I love it.

Or even Tom Ford Noir! It may be for men, but I adore it

Those giftsets would be amazing if you could select which fragrances were in them! Their selections for it are meh.
