PawPack is a monthly subscription box for dogs or cats. This is a review of the “large” dog box. (PawPack customizes your box to your dog’s size – my dog, Nyx, weighs 82 pounds (she has lost a lot of weight due to an illness). You can see Liz’s review of a past PawPack for small dogs here, although it appears they’ve revamped their subscription model a bit in the past few months.) PawPack focuses on eco-friendly, organic, and natural items for your pet.
PawPack sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
Here’s a look inside the box. This seemed a bit more balanced in terms of treat/toy ratio than past boxes!
The Subscription Box: PawPack
The Cost: $35 per month on a month-to-month plan, with better deals for longer subscriptions. Shipping is free in the continental US and $10 for Alaska, Hawaii, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
The Products: Full sized surprise items each month along with various samples and other goodies. Everything will always be either Eco-Friendly, Organic, or All-Natural.

The card this month talked about “Adopt a Shelter Dog” month (which was October) and also had a list of the items in the box.
ZippyPaws Spooky Burrow – Value $9.99
The idea behind this toy is that you put the candy corn “bats” inside the grave stone and your dog can dig them out. I haven’t given this to Nyx yet because I’m worried the candy corn bats might be too small for a dog her size. (Expect to see a lot of ZippyPaws items in PawPack, by the way.)
Charming Pet Spooky Slideez – Value $10.49
This toy is supposed to be good for tooth and gum health (I guess that’s the rope arms). Nyx thought it was pretty fun:
Latham & Company Pet Bandana – Value $5 (?)
I could only find this bandana on wholesale sites where you had to log in to see the price. I’m kind of wondering if it was an accident that I got sent something this small or if I was sent a small dog box to review. Because there is no way this would ever fit on a Rottweiler. I did find someone it fit, though…
Wholelife Living Treats Beta Boost with Pumpkin (2.3 oz) – Value $5.99
These are made in the USA and don’t have any meat or grains. I’m going to have to ask my vet if Nyx can try them (she has inflammatory bowel disease and has a really restricted diet). Nice to see allergy-friendly treats in a dog subscription box!
Look Who’s Happy Tempt’n Tenders (chicken with pumpkin) – Value $7.99
These are grain free and made in the USA as well (actually, their facility is not terribly far from where I live!). Always nice to discover a new local company. And I think it’s kind of cool that PawPack managed to find two different dog treats with pumpkin in them for this month.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $39.50 for the October 2015 PawPack. That is slightly more than the cost of the box on a month-to-month basis. This has never been the highest value dog subscription box, but I have always appreciated their efforts to find high-quality, grain-free, USA-made treats (and these are items in current packaging that are still being sold by the manufacturers, as well). I discovered some new companies this month, also. The bandana was a bit of a fail and I have to wonder if that was a mistake or if I got sent a small dog box instead of a large one. But overall, this box was representative of what I’ve come to expect from PawPack, though.
What do you think of the October 2015 PawPack box? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
