Orange Glad Subscription Box Review November 2015 - Maple

Dottie's Delight Maple Caramels (2 oz.)- $2.80

I love flavored caramels, so I’m very excited to see Maple Caramels from Dottie’s Delight featured in this month’s box. I don’t get a strong maple flavor from the candies, but I like the soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The packaging is cute, too. (FYI- The small, ribbon-wrapped box contains four caramels.)

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review November 2015 - Caramels

Crunchy Toffee Topped Caramels from The Poisoned Apples (1 piece)- $2.33

This caramel is seriously tasty. It’s made up of a small shortbread cookie that’s topped with caramel, dipped in chocolate, and topped with black sea salted toffee. It arrived a little mushed, but that couldn’t stop me from digging in! I love the crunchy and smooth texture and the addition of black salt is a nice twist on classic salted caramel. My only complaint is that OrangeGlad only included one piece!

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review November 2015 - Thanksolate

Thanks-olate Bar from Seattle Chocolates (2.5 oz)- $3.50

Seattle Chocolates crafts their Thanks-olate bar from milk chocolate, toffee bits, and sea salt. I usually opt for dark chocolate over milk, but this bar is still a delightful indulgence. The creamy milk chocolate is really smooth, and I like the crunchy and salty bits of toffee. It’s also nice to see a seasonally-appropriate item in the box- this bar is perfect for Thanksgiving!

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review November 2015 - Studmuffin

Bleecker Street Brittle from Studmuffin Desserts (1 oz?)- $2?

The small pieces of Bleecker Street Brittle included in this box arrived a little stuck together, but I really like the salty, toffee-like flavor. The brittle is crunchy, buttery, and rich.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review November 2015 - Shotwell

Shotwell Classic Tennessee Toffee (1.25 oz)- $2.98

I’ve sampled Shotwell candies before, and I’m a big fan. Their Classic Tennessee Toffee is fantastic, and by far my favorite item in this month’s OrangeGlad. The toffee is very salty, but it works really nicely with the added pecans and dark chocolate.

Verdict: I really enjoyed all of the treats included in this month’s OrangeGlad Sweet Box; however, I would have appreciated a bit more variety. All of this month’s goodies contained toffee or caramel- and four of the treats had a salty caramel flavor profile. I love salted caramel, so this wasn’t a big deal for me, personally, but it would have been nice to see cookies or something fruity in the mix. A couple of this month’s goodies (the brittle and toffee topped caramel, specifically) also feel more like samples than actual desserts. It would be nice to receive samples that were big enough to easily share. This month’s products total over $13, which is higher than I’ve seen in some previous months but still significantly less than the $19 per month cost of the box. I really enjoy discovering new products from small bakeries around the country, but I wish the value was a little higher. Luckily, Orange Glad offered an incredible Black Friday deal last year (45% off any subscription), so it’s likely they’ll offer discounts again this year. If you’re interested in subscribing, I’d recommend keeping an eye on MSA's list of Black Friday deals and signing up for the MSA daily newsletter!

Lindsey, you are so right that the curation was too narrow this month, with salted caramel and toffee everything. However, I love those flavors so this was actually my favorite Orange Glad box. 🙂 My sub runs out next month and I can’t justify renewing it at current prices, but if they offer a great BF deal, I’m in (as long as current subs can get said great deal?? Anyone know?).

I loved everything in this box – there just wasn’t nearly enough of it! I really do hope they run a good black friday deal. I don’t want to give this box up but can’t justify the overpriced cost…

Did anyone else notice that the Bleecker Street label is misspelled? On the label it reads “Bleeker Street” but on their website it’s spelled as Bleecker Street. Such a nerd, sorry :)! However, I would have loved to get all of those toffee topped goodies! That sounds like a great box…might have to indulge for December/pre-New Year’s resolutions.
