Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - inside

I love this – they wrote my cats’ names inside the lid!

Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - items

This was a small box, but it was packed full.

Included was an information card detailing the items in the box. (This did arrive in time for Halloween – I’m just a little late writing this review!)

Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - treats

Blue Wilderness Chicken & Trout Recipe Cat Treats (2 oz) – Value $2.83

Wellness Pure Delights Turkey & Salmon Jerky (3 oz) – Value $16.99

I was surprised at the price for the Wellness treats but they were priced like that everywhere I found them. They’re grain free, which is great, but I thought the inflammatory bowel disease-safe lamb jerky treats I buy were expensive at $6.95 a bag!

Also. One thing I learned with this box is not to leave it where my cats can get to it. I found the contents scattered across the dining room floor not once but twice. The Wellness treats got carried all the way UPSTAIRS to the bedroom the first time. The second time, they ended up like this:

My cats gorged themselves a little too much on these so I am making them wait to try the other treats…

Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - toys

Handmade Candy Corn Catnip Toy from The Empurrium – Value $6.50

Catnip toys are always a hit. This has moved around the bedroom floor some, so I know my kitties are playing with it. (I couldn’t find this specific toy in the Empurrium store, so I’m linking to something similar and using the price from that.)

Wellifish Bavarian Cat Toy – Value $6.99

This smelled weird. Kind of like cheese or something. But my cats thought it was the greatest thing ever, which is sort of the point. These are hard to find online but are available locally in some states.

PetStages Plaque Away Pretzel – Value $2.95

I don’t know how well these actually clean teeth, but I have had other toys with this texture before that my cats seem to like.

Ruff & Whiskerz Wildlife Cherperz – Value $3.99

This is supposed to make noise – I couldn’t get it to. Although I kind of don’t like noisemaking cat toys because they tend to wake me up at 3AM, when the cats suddenly take an interest. But my cats enjoy the feathers, so that’s good.

And now, some gratuitous cat photos:

Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - sneaky

Sneaky will bite anything you hold in front of her. ANYTHING.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - mrkitty

Mr. Kitty isn’t too happy in this photo. He has an infection in both eyes and he has been getting a lot of eye drops lately.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - madison

It’s hard to photograph Madison because you can’t ever see his face. But he likes both of this month’s soft toys quite a bit.

Meowbox Subscription Box Review October 2015 - monkey

Monkey and Madison actually got into a little spat about who got to play with the smelly blue fish…

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $40 for the October 2015 Meowbox. Granted, I’m totally unsure of some of the prices because the items are handmade and/or hard to find online. So it could be a little less. This is a reasonable value for a pet box, especially since pretty much everything was a hit with my cats. (I have enough cats that usually at least one of them will like any given item!)

When we first subscribed they used to include a detailed description of what is in the box that month, then they stopped doing that and expected us to look all of it up on their web site (when did we start working for them), now they don’t even post it anymore. How are we supposed to know what we’re giving our cats?? They seem to have gotten more and more lazy. needless to say we will not be renewing our subscription.

Mr. Kitty’s pic is meme worthy for sure. An excellent though not intentional (or maybe it was) “whale eye.” ??

I’m pretty sure nothing in cat pictures is ever intentional. I just take dozens and then pick and choose from among them.

Thank you for this! I did a search for a promo code and found one that worked!! $13 off for 6 months. I have 5 cats over 10 years old but just got a new kitten. He will LOVE this!!! The old cats just lay around – but he loves treats and loves to play!!! So excited to get a sub box for a cat that will appreciate it. LOL!

My cats are kind of old and they still like it. Mr. Kitty just turned 11. Monkey is about 9, Madison is 8, and Sneaky about 7. (I found Monkey and Sneaky as adults so those are guesses. I got Mr. Kitty and Madison as kittens so I am more sure of those.)

Thank you for the review now I have more things other than cat soups to put under the tree for my Jill. She’s an old kitty but a good cat all the way. From one of your photo’s it might be time to clean Sneaky’s teeth.

LOL on the cat treats being dragged around. So gotta ask, did they play with the box too? Mine kitties adore boxes. I would image all the smells in there would be very enticing! And holy cow on the price of the Wellness treats!

This is my favorite review to have ever appeared on this site – not just for the adorable kitty pics (is there such a thing as a “gratuitous” cat photo? Let’s not ask the 943+ cat photos on my camera roll at any given time), but also for the mental image conjured of the cats dragging that pouch of treats through multiple rooms and up the stairs.

The only time my cats ever seem to work together (there’s 2 of them) is when they’re trying to tear into an unopened bag of food or treats 🙂

Yr cat pics are beyond adorable. They made me smile. I have 5 cats who would love this box but i always am afraid to get new toys cause i have a very dominant cat who likes to claim everything as hers and she fights the others when they touch something she thinks is hers, i can just imagine what a whole pack of goodies would do !

Your kitties are so cute! I love this box. I wish someone would come out with a $10-15 cat box though with just 2-4 items in it.

I never think about the size of the boxes, I guess, because I have so many cats. I was going to recommend PetBox (they have a “snack” box that’s smaller and cheaper, and not all food despite the name) but I can’t get their site to load in any browser.
