Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - box

Burt’s Bees recently released a holiday grab bag featuring a variety of skincare, bath and body, and lip products. I’ve been pretty happy with most of the Burt’s Bees products I’ve tried so I had to check it out!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this grab bag. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Grab Bag: Burt’s Bees Holiday Grab Bag

The Cost: $25 (this is currently still available from the Burt’s Bees website)

The Products: 10 natural products and accessories to pamper your body, face, and lips.

Check out the 2015 Holiday Gift Guide and be sure to visit My Subscription Addiction frequently for updates on Black Friday subscription box deals, limited edition boxes, and more!

Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - bag

Burt’s Bees Cosmetic Bag – Value $10 (?)

Everything came packaged inside this cosmetic bag. Like many of you, I have far too many cosmetic bags. But I do like the red color of this one.

Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - balm

Blueberry & Dark Chocolate Lip Balm (full size!) – Value $3.30

Pomegranate Lip Balm (full size!) – Value $3.30

There was a lot of lip balm in this bag, but they did give full spoilers on the contents beforehand. And Burt’s Bees is well-known for lip balm. Both of these smelled great and neither was tinted. Both will get used, for sure.

Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - balm2

Tinted Lip Balm in Blush Orchid (full size!) – Value $7

I was going to swatch this for you but it doesn’t even show up on my skin. It’s pretty light. Looking at the Burt’s Bees site, I think the other colors may have more pigment. I can still use it as a regular lip balm, though.

Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream (0.3 oz) – Value $3

This is a favorite item of mine. I have an open full-sized one right now but it is nice to have a spare. And it is a good reminder to take better care of my cuticles, which are not in the greatest shape right now.

Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - cleanser

Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser (0.75 oz) – Value $1.25

I liked the texture of this cleanser, but found it to be better for the morning. It didn’t remove all my foundation at night. It was gentle, though, but I think I prefer the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser from Burt’s Bees.

Intense Hydration Day Lotion (0.25 oz) – Value $2.50

I like that they included a cleanser and moisturizer from the same product line. This seemed to work well the few times I tried it so far, and I should be able to get quite a few uses from this container (I tend to use moisturizers sparingly, though).

Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - scrub

Cranberry and Pomegranate Sugar Scrub (full size!) – Value $13

I love scrubs. I go through a full size one in less than two weeks so this is appreciated. This one has a perfect scent for the holidays and uses sugar for exfoliation (no plastic microbeads!).

Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - shower

Fabulously Fresh Peppermint & Rosemary Body Wash (1.8 oz) – Value $1.20

Pouf Sponge – Value $2 (?)

This body wash had an invigorating scent. It is free of sulfates and I did have to use kind of a lot to work up a good lather.

Burt's Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag Review - wallet

Compact Mirror – Value $6 (?)

This is a limited edition item for inclusion with the grab bag and I couldn’t therefore find the exact item online. I’ve linked to something similar from Amazon. I totally didn’t get that this folds to stand up on its own until later on…my fault though, as the image of the grab bag on the Burt’s Bees website shows it folded. It’s handy if you want to do something like apply mascara on the go, where it helps to have both hands free.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $52 for the Burt’s Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag., which is about twice the purchase price I’m most excited about the bath and body items and not super thrilled about getting three lip balms, but I did know what the contents were before ordering. This is a good choice for fans of Burt’s Bees and/or people looking to try a variety of natural and sustainably-sourced beauty products (not vegan, though, as many of these items contain honey).

What do you think of the Burt’s Bees 2015 Holiday Grab Bag? Did you order one?

I also rec’d a smashed mirror and contacted them about it but have not heard a peep. [sigh] On the bright side, I love love love this bag! Mirror aside, there’s a lot of great goodies in here! I happen to love lip balms so when I saw the Blueberry & Dark Chocolate, it hit my lips immediately! Yum. The Blush Orchid tinted lip balm is actually a pale, shimmery but non-sticky wash of pink. I love it. Yep, I am full of love for this bag, despite the silence regarding the broken mirror. Hopefully I will hear back today. This is worth picking up as a holiday gift as long as your recipient is into lip balms.. cuz they will be getting four!

I was introduced to Burt’s Bees over 20 years ago when my son worked for them and they were a small company. I have always liked their products especially the therapeutic crystals. I was not aware they had been bought out by Clorox. Their products used to be 97% to 99% pure. Hope that continues.

When I got my Burt’s Bees bag, the mirror was cracked in several places. I asked them to send me a replacement mirror, and they sent me an entirely new bag, with all the contents. Talk about great customer service!

Interesting. I rec’d a smashed mirror as well and they finally got back to me and said they are sending a replacement mirror. So much for great customer service.

The grab bag is listed as a $48 value on the Burt’s Bees website. I know the mirror might be one discrepancy, not sure about anything else.

The pouf sponge and the bag might also be discrepancies. They don’t sell those separately so I had to guess.

I always take companies’ valuations of their own products with a grain of salt. Although none of the merchandise values were inflated here (because you can buy the actual beauty products from their site), I have seen companies list MSRP as value on product inserts when you can buy from Amazon or an Ulta sale for a lot less.

Thanks. Need a secret Santa gift. This may be a contender.

You know, I was really worried about Burt’s Bees quality when they were purchased by Clorox, because skin care + Clorox, but their quality has yet to miss a beat.
