Yummy Bazaar includes a two-sided card that provides information about the items featured in the month’s box.

This box contains sample-sized products from France, Spain, Italy, Japan, and Taiwan.

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sept 2015 - Chestnut

Chestnut Spread Puree de Marrons by Clement Faugier (2.75 oz.)- $2.95

Considering that this is a sampler box, I’m thrilled to receive a full-sized product! I’ve tried this chestnut spread before, and I’m a fan, but I’m never quite sure how to use it. Does anyone have suggestions? I’ve done a little online research, and I’ve found recommendations to spread it on toast, eat it with yogurt, and blend it into coffee. I’d love to hear other ideas, though, too, if anyone has them!

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sept 2015 - Galettes

Original Milk Tea by 3:15 PM (1 bag)- $.54

This bag of oolong tea contains both tea and powdered non-dairy creamer- so you can have milky tea even if you don’t have fresh milk on hand. I’ve never tried a product like this before, so I’m excited to see it in this month’s sampler box. I brewed myself a cup, and I really like it. It’s sweeter than the tea I usually drink, but I find the milky sweetness extremely soothing.

French Galettes Cookies by Traou Mad (1.16 oz.)- $2.05

These crisp, buttery cookies are phenomenal. The flavor is fantastic, and I think they’d be great alongside a cup of coffee.

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sept 2015 - Paellero

Original Rice Crackers by Kameda (2 crackers)- $.50

Kameda is the leading maker of rice crackers in Japan, and these crackers are baked (not fried). They’re really tasty, and I think the seasoning is perfect.

Paella Seasoning with Real Saffron by Paellero (1 packet)- $1.79

I received a full box of this paella seasoning in Yummy Bazaar’s Spanish Full Experience Box. It’s made with real saffron and a number of other authentic spices. I used it to make seafood paella, and I liked it a lot. (Good to know: 1 packet is enough to season 6 servings of paella.)

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sept 2015 - Ketchup

Truffle Ketchup by Urbani (.2 fl oz.)- $.26

This is my second box from Yummy Bazaar, and both boxes have been packed with extreme care. In the first box, I was impressed to receive a full bag of chips that hadn’t been crushed to pieces, and now I’m pleased to see that the packet of ketchup in this box has been bagged to prevent spillage. This is a pretty small sample, but it’s enough to get a taste for the product. I’m going to save it for the next time I have French fries. I love truffles, so that will have to be soon!

Yummy Bazaar Destination Food Club Subscription Box Review Sept 2015 - Hojaldres

Mini Orange Hojaldres Puff Pastries by 1880 (1 cookie)- $.61

According to Yummy Bazaar, these pastries are a Spanish holiday tradition. They’re flaky, lightly flavored with orange, and covered with powdered sugar. The flavor is delicate and pleasant, but I’m not really a fan of the texture.

Chocolate Bonbons with White Truffles by Urbani (2 bonbons)- $1.61

More truffles, yay! These bonbons are incredibly decadent. As soon as I opened the foil wrapping I could smell the aroma of white truffles, but the flavor is mellow enough that it doesn’t overpower the white chocolate. They’re pretty special.

Verdict: I’m really impressed with this Sample Box from Yummy Bazaar's Destination Food Club. The selection is diverse and interesting, and I discovered some delicious new products. In terms of value, the items in this box total $10.31. That exceeds the cost of the box, so I’m happy with the value. This is the first Sample Box from Yummy Bazaar, and I think they’re off to a great start!

Lindsey, great review and one which has me considering ANOTHER box, darn you! I would be interested to know what is received in the larger box, though I like the idea of a variety of tastes. The italian side of my family uses chestnuts with cakes, cookies, etc. as a primary or secondary flavor component or in layers of filling. Chocolate and chestnut are a good team; it gives a nice added dimension to the chocolate much like almond would provide. I cannot find the recipe, but when my darling Italian mother was alive she used to add some to a simple christmas cookie which was delicious–it didn’t look like much, but we used to grab those over the fancier ones on the plate!

Thanks for the chestnut recipe tips, nursermk! I love the sound of a chocolate chestnut cake, and your family’s cookies sound amazing! I think I see some recipe experimentation in my future. 🙂

If you’re interested in seeing a review of the Full Experience Box, you can click my name to see my review of last month’s Spanish box. My review of this month’s Full Experience Italian box should be up soon!

Much appreciated, I should have known you were on top of those reviews (will be very interested in the “Paisan” themed upcoming box…)
A quick story: A friend of my mom’s wanted to try those delicious chestnut cookies and a few weeks later she confessed she hated her finished product. We were puzzled until we learned she substituted WATER chestnuts for the roasted/pureed chestnuts my mother clearly outlined in the recipe. Yikes!

This was my first box from them and I really like it. There’s not as much as other $10 food boxes, but I feel like what they send can be harder to find. I love that they send samples from different countries in one box.

You should try the chestnut spread on the butter cookies. It doesn’t change the cookies’ flavor too much, but adds a hint of sweetness.

Some of these international food boxes look so fun. But I’m afraid of getting anything from an Asian country with fish or meat-based ingredients in it. For something European, I can plug ingredients into Google Translate and get an idea if I don’t already know the word. But I wouldn’t have the first clue how to do that with kanji!

Hi Ragan! Yummy Bazaar lists the ingredients for each item (in English) on their website. The product links in the review should take you to the right place. They also list relevant ingredient info like this (pulled from the Kameda Rice Cracker page): ” Contains soy and fish. Made in a facility that also processes milk, egg, crustacean shellfish, wheat and peanuts.” Hope that helps! 🙂

Good to know, thanks!

That looks yummy! This may be my new box! I cancelled all of my other food boxes and have been looking for a new one.
