This box came with a card detailing the large and medium candle featured for the month. The version of candle you receive should vary based on your scent preferences.

First up – the large candle subscription review. This box is $39.95 + $5 shipping:

D.L. & Co. Candle in Lavende Citron – Value $85

This candle brand is new to me and WOW it is luxe! The packaging is so gorgeous – this would be such a fabulous gift to give (or receive!)

Subscribers to the large box received one of the following scents based on their preferences: Ambre Epice, Cedre Noir, Lavende Citron, or Vanilla Peche.

I absolutely love this glass and gold metallic glass vessel – it will work perfectly with our decor. The scent is great too. I filled out the scent profile for this box and selected mostly citrus scents, so they matched me well! This citrus scent is a little sweeter than I expected, but it works.

And this candle is pretty large too. Here it is in hand to give a better sense of scale:

Now onto the medium box (which costs $29.95 plus $5 shipping):

One thing worth mentioning – the packaging on this box is fantastic. I think it would make a great gift subscription for a candle lover.

Red Flower Candle in Italian Blood Orange – Value $38

Yay for more citrus scents! (The Italian Blood Orange is my favorite of all Red Flower scents).

Subscribers of the medium will receive one of the following scents based on their scent preferences: Icelandic Moonflower, Spanish Gardenia, Italian Blood Orange, Ocean, Moroccan Rose, Indian Jasmine, Japanese Peony, or Wanderlust.

This is a petal topped candle, and you can use those candles for extra fragrance. For now I’m leaving the petals on the candle and placing it on my desk!

Here is a look of it in hand for scale:

Verdict: I think this is a well-done subscription and would be a great gift for a candle lover. (Especially since they cater to scent preferences, and seem to do a good job at it!). Based on this month alone, I would recommend signing up for the Large box over the Medium box since it has the better value ($45 for an $85 candle vs $35 for a $38 candle). I would like to see a few more boxes before I officially declare that the better value, though!

  1. The tumbler and petals are pretty but I agree, $35 for a candle just isn’t for me. I wish there was a candle sub where you can get multiple candles for that price. That would be nice!

    • If you’re in the States, you could try Flickerbox. I have a major crush on that sub. . . but they don’t ship to Canada so 🙁

    • Have you tried Flicker Box? I’ve been subscribed to them for most of the past year and really like them.

  2. I love candles but I can’t spend $35 for one candle. Maybe I’ll try it if there’s a coupon code or something.

  3. Man, I love candles but I’m not sure I can justify spending $35+/month for a single candle even if the “value” is greater. I’d love a box like this, though, if the options were a little more in my price point.

  4. This $85 candle just reminded me of Chanel Oberlin’s candles that she burns once and puts in her closet because they are “used”. As a girl named Jennifer I totally want to get this sub for like 6 months and melt them all down to one huge candle. LOLOLOLOL

  5. I wasn’t going to try this one because it seemed pricey for just one candle but these look gorgeous! I may just have to give in and subscribe. 🙂

  6. I got the large box and I could not get over the packaging! From the super cute pink box to the package the candle came in! Plus the value for the large box is insane! I think I am super impressed also because for how heavy the large candle is, the shipping is only $5. Living in Hawaii, I consider myself an expert on shipping costs!

    • That’s a good point about shipping costs. That candle is HEAVY! (And so fancy 🙂 )

      Glad you liked it too!
