This was my first Treatsie box, and I think I'm going to love it. They promise up to $25 of gourmet sweets every month, with at least 3 different vendors every month. I like that - I think that there will be less of a chance of getting an entire box of treats that aren't your taste if the vendors are different. From what I can see, it looks like 5-6 items is standard for this box.
Treatsie shipped my box with warm weather protection (which is great, because it's fall everywhere else in the country!), but I did still receive a few melty items. Three of my items had melted a little - two were just barely melty and the third was completely squishy. They did ship with a metallic mailer and an ice pack, so they did what they could! I don't expect to get chocolate shipped to me in Southern California and have it show up in pristine condition!
Here's everything out of the box...it all looks great!
You have no idea how bummed I am to find that this product is out of stock on Zingerman's website. It's a limited edition candy, and it is probably a good thing...I shouldn't be spending that kind of money on candy. These remind me of a much improved 100 Grand Bar (don't get me wrong, I'll eat those like they're going out of style - these were just better!), with a lighter texture. The inside of these was light and airy, compared to the solid caramel center of the 100 Grand Bar. The flavor was so, so good.
This was the item that came completely melted. I was running out the door to the airport when I grabbed this box off the porch, so this got left behind. Everything else came with me on vacation so I could try it! This candy is described as milk chocolate, layered with peanut butter, and roasted almonds. Sounds pretty good...for someone who likes nuts in their candy! I'll pass this along to someone who will appreciate it more than I will!
These were delicious! Just the right amount of fall flavoring in a classic treat. The texture and flavor of these were just amazing. I'll be savoring these!
Say hello to the grown up version of Starburst. These are so much better though - they're all natural and free of a lot of problem ingredients. They also don't contain gelatin, which makes these a great alternative for vegans and vegetarians. The flavors, pomegranate nectarine, Meyer lemon and raspberry, and blood orange and honey are sophisticated but not to the point that kids won't still enjoy them. These would be great for both adults and little ones!
I am not the best person to judge dark chocolate with nuts. Neither are my favorite, and so this bar wasn't my favorite. It was a little too dark to me, with not enough sweetness to balance. I think it would have been awesome if there was more caramel in it. This, again, though is just a matter of taste, and there are probably a lot of people that love it!
The verdict: This box adds up to about $20.25 which is a little under the promised value. I think that my estimates for the Colts Bolts and Karamel Krunch are a little on the low side, because buying in bulk is always cheaper than individual pieces. That being said, the value is just above the cost of the box, which I am happy with. Everything I received was great quality and I was introduced to my new favorite (but unavailable) candy. I am looking forward to seeing what the next few months bring with the holidays coming!
