The Menswear Club subscription is "...not a box, it's a parcel."  It is described as an “elite parcel of 5-6 products…delivered straight to your doorstep – every month.”  You can expect a mixture of grooming products, accessories, and products exclusive to Menswear Club.

The Menswear Club Subscription Parcel Review October 2015 - 4

This parcel was sent via USPS 2 Day Priority Mail, so it arrived in the standard USPS packaging.  The box inside was anything but standard!  The outer box is a nice glossy black, with a paisley inner box.  It opens like a little drawer…they definitely score points for a cool box.  There was no brochure explaining what was in the box but they did include a nautical themed postcard.

Vitaman Face Scrub – 50 ml - $20.00

First up, we have the Vitaman face scrub.  This scrub is…quite expensive!  It smells citrusy and has the consistency of an apricot scrub. One thing to note, is that the scrub part of this face wash comes from finely crushed nutshells and not the plasticky bead that are harmful to marine life.

Dr. Squatch Cedar Citrus Soap - $6.00

This soap smells fabulous.  I was able to smell it as soon as I slid the box open.  This is a large size soap and will take a while to get through!  It looks like Dr. Squatch also has their own subscription box for soap!  Their spearmint basil soap probably smells out of this world amazing.

Happy Socks – Scales socks - $12.00

Happy Socks make me…well…happy!  They’re always so fun and cheerful with their colors and patterns…it’s hard to find a sock this well made that is so fun!  These socks are soft and fun and will definitely be used!  Who can’t use more socks?!

Skinny Tie Madness tie – $29.99

I couldn’t find this exact pattern on Skinny Tie Madness’ site, but there are many similar ties!  This one is perfect for the season.  I couldn’t find the fabric content of the tie I received, but it has a woolen look to it!  It seems well made (very similar in quality to some higher end ties in my husband’s closet) and the prices are reasonable for ties, especially trendy ties.  This tie isn’t exactly my husband’s taste, so it is being passed along to a friend that I know will wear it!

Block Wood Wallet - $20.00

I was actually pretty stumped when I pulled this out of the box!  I was thinking: “Is this a business card holder that stands on a desk?”  I couldn’t figure it out!  Apparently, this is a wallet!   It is made from zebrawood (which is beautiful) and according to the Block website, zebrawood is very durable as well.  The insert for your cards has a slight curve, and an area carved out so you can push your cards out with your thumb.  It’s recommended for 4-6 cards plus some cash, or up to 12 business cards.  So is this the new thing?  I can’t imagine it would be comfortable to sit on…maybe it goes in a laptop bag or something.  My husband goes for the tiniest wallet possible, so this isn’t for him!

Daneson Mint No. 9 Toothpicks – $4.99

These are the fanciest toothpicks I have ever seen!  The bottle is amber colored glass with a tiny little cork stopper.  On the website in the description for these toothpicks, they say that they like to “under promise, and over deliver,” so you are guaranteed at least 12 toothpicks in a container.  They even sell cases for their toothpicks!

The Verdict:  My calculated total value for this parcel is around $93.00.  I think that is great!  Everything in this parcel is luxe feeling, unique, and would be pretty rare to find in just any old store.  This seems like the quintessential gentleman’s subscription:  great value and a unique assortment of items.  The price point and value of this box is quite similar to Popsugar, which is pretty popular among the ladies here.  I could see this box taking off in a similar manner for men.  Granted, this month it does skew a bit more towards the businessman, but I would love to watch to see how this box evolves in the next few months!  Right now, I think it’s excellent!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

This looks like a fun box! My teenage son has been wanting a new box. He gets Birchbox Man, but gets tired of grooming products (I like the gadgets), so we may have to try this one out!

… though I won’t try any new box without a coupon, so I’ll wait…
