Taste Trunk The Monthly Sampler Subscription Box Review October 2015 - 3
The trunk arrived in a priority mail box from USPS, and I could immediately tell the thing was packed full!  I couldn't wait to get into it!  Once I opened the outer packaging; I found the 'trunk'...they already get an A+ for packaging from me!
Taste Trunk includes 'recipe' cards for each item in your trunk.  I thought this was a nice touch!  It's a departure from the normal brochure or one sheet inclusion that I usually see in my boxes.  The recipe cards are a perfect fit for a gourmet food box.  These aren't traditional recipe cards in that they don't have actual recipes on them in most cases.  There is a bit listed about the companies that produce the items along with some serving suggestions, and then, yes, some actual recipes.  I also liked that they included a little card welcoming me!

This is everything included in the trunk.  I have to say that this is one of my favorite boxes I've ever received.  It feels like an awesome present that someone chose for me that knew all my favorites.  Everything is high quality and the assortment was great.

I know truffles are the in thing right now and I don't mind mushrooms... but I couldn't bring myself to try this.  I know it's delicious for some but truffles just don't do it for me!  I'm going to be keeping this one to pass along to my brother.  I think he will love it!
This brand is new to me and I like that we got both an oil and a vinegar to try it out.
This gets really good reviews online.  I haven't tried it yet due to some unwelcome sickness but I am very happy with the large size and the flavor choice.  I was peeking around online and found a lot of flavors of vinegar from this brand that I would LOVE to try.  Blood Orange anyone?

I made soup last night for myself and threw this on the cod that I made for my husband; it added a great zing to both!  Even opening the cap, it smells out of this world amazing.  I have a recipe for thyme bread that I am going to try this out in when I make it next.  This brand also has many spices I would love to try out!  To mention a few, this Raspberry Chipotle Rub, this Purple Haze Vegetable Rub, and if their vanilla powder comes back in stock - I'm definitely grabbing that!
This looks like it would be wonderful on meat, or for me, cauliflower steaks.  I've never used a dry glaze before, so I'm excited to use this!

Scones are one of my favorite baked goods when they're made right!  They're not hard to make well but many places don't do the pastry justice.  I have a favorite recipe I make at home, so I'm hoping these are just as good!  All of Sticky Fingers' scones get really great reviews on Amazon so I'm sure they're amazing.  These in particular might just be in my Amazon cart right now...but I'l never tell!

The Verdict:  The total value of this box according to the pricing I found online is around $45.22 which exceeds the cost of the box.  I am happy with the value for the price, as they introduced me to new companies I wouldn't have known about and included full size, gourmet items that I would have chosen for myself (outside of the truffle oil).  I do think that the dry rub might have been more seasonally appropriate in the Summer; but I live in an area with (seemingly) perpetual Summer, so it doesn't bother me - I will use it!  I would recommend this box if you're looking for a food box that isn't snack centric or as a gift to a foodie.

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

Bekki: Once again your reviews are amazing! You are so accurate and spot on. You capture the true essence of what makes a review item so very special. I have a local olive oil company that makes a blood orange oil and it’s LIFE CHANGING! They suggested subbing 3 Tbsp of oil in brownie mix with the blood orange…. So amazing!

What a fun looking box! The foodie boxes always intrigue me for sure but I don’t know if I would be able to figure out what to do with the fancy ingredients!

Thankfully they include some serving suggestions on the recipe cards. The peach vinegar came with a recipe for a salad dressing that sounds amazing! If all else fails, I just google it! (Google knows all…lol)

Great review, Bekki! I would like to try several things in this box. Hmmm… the whole thing actually looks really good! 🙂

My kids say we live in summer (as if summer was a place or time) and I do have to agree with them.

If summer was a place, we would live in it for sure! It’s supposed to be over 100 tomorrow! IN OCTOBER!

Seriously though, this box was so fun to open!

Sticky Fingers scones are awesome!! Especially hot out of the oven…I always buy them at World Market and was so sad the other day when all the white chocolate raspberry mixes were sold out!! Everything looks delish…might have to try this one!!
