SnackSack includes a list of items included in the box.

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Sack

Here’s a close-up of the burlap sack. There are more treats stuffed inside!

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Popcorn

Blue Corn Popcorn by Sinfully Thin (.35 oz)- $.34

I’ve never had blue corn popcorn before, and I’m surprised to see that it has a slight bluish hue. (If I had my eyes closed, though, I’m not sure I’d be able to distinguish it from white or yellow corn popcorn.) The color made it a little fun to eat, and I like that it’s so low in calories (45 per bag).

GinnyMinis Butter Crisp Love (1.25 oz.)- $1.08

These crispy butter cookies are really tasty! This is my first time sampling a product from GinnyBakes, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for others!

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Coconut

Beanfields Bean & Rice Nacho Chips (1.5 oz)- $1.25

Benfields Bean & Rice Nacho Chips are vegan, gluten-free, and made without corn. Instead, they’re made with black beans, navy beans, and long grain rice. I’ve had these chips a few times before, and I’m a fan. I also really like the nacho flavor blend. It reminds me of salsa. (The first time I tried these chips I thought nacho meant cheesy, but they’re not cheesy at all.)

Made in Nature Italian Espresso Toasted Coconut Chips (3 oz.)- $3.99

Ever since Popsugar Must Have introduced me to Dang Coconut Chips, I’ve been a big fan of toasted coconut chips. These, from Made in Nature, are flavored with Italian espresso. It’s an interesting combination, and I really like it.

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Peas

Texas BBQ Peas by World Peas (1.5 oz.)- $1.25

I’m pretty fond of wasabi peas, and I had no idea that it was possible to get the crunchy snack in other flavors! World Peas makes crunchy peas in ranch, barbeque, curry, sichuan, tomato & garlic, garlic, and wasabi.

Garlic & Onion Roasted Broad Bean Crisps by Enlightened (1 oz.)- $1.25

Roasted broad beans are crunchy, low in fat, and high in protein and fiber. I’ve tried the garlic & onion flavor before, and I like them. (Though, the garlic is fairly potent, so I’d advise not eating them right before a hot date!)

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Pistachios

Wonderful Pistachios (1.5 oz.)- $1.35

My husband loves pistachios, so he’s thrilled to see these in our SnackSack! We’ve tried Wonderful Pistachios before (I think they’re pretty widely available in grocery stores), and I think their nuts are tasty and nicely salted.

Annie's Honey Bunny Grahams (1 oz.)- $.88

Annie’s Bunny Grahams are organic, made with whole grains, and pretty easy to find in high-end groceries like Whole Foods. I like them a lot, but I can’t eat them without having flash backs to eating Teddy Grahams in elementary school. They were my favorite lunchtime treat!

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review September 2015 - GFB

Cho-Coco Square by Simple Squares (1.7 oz)- $2.50

I’ve sampled several different Simple Squares bars thanks so my subscription box addiction, and I think they’re pretty great. Cho-Coco is made with cashews, almonds, honey, coconut, chocolate, vanilla, and sea salt.

The GFB Cranberry Toasted Almond Bar (58 g.)- $2.33

This bar from the GFB (Gluten Free Bar) is non-GMO, gluten free, high in fiber, and dairy and soy free. I like the subtle almond flavor, but I’m not a huge fan of the bar’s texture.

Snack Sack Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Snackimals

Vanilla Snackimals by Barbara's (2.125 oz.)- $ 1.10

When I opened this bag of Snackimals, I noticed an odd smell. The bag is in date, so I starting Googling to see if I could shed some light on the issue. Is the smell normal? Did I get a bad batch? After digging around, I came across a recall of the product from earlier this year. From the manufacturer: “There is a rancid odor that appears to be related to a batch of oil used in the manufacture of the cookies. This is not a food safety issue.” It doesn’t appear that my bag is included in the recall, but I can’t help but wonder… That’s a pretty big coincidence…

Belgian Boys De Liege Wafel (55 g.)- $1.09

I’m tried Belgian Boys De Liege Wafels before, and I think they’re tasty; however, I think they’re much better warmed up in the microwave for a few seconds than when they’re eaten right out of the bag.

Verdict: This SnackSack wasn’t the biggest hit with me, but I did discover some tasty new products. In particular, I think the blue corn popcorn and barbeque peas are great. I’m a bit concerned about the bag of Snackimals I received, but I recognize that a possible product defect isn’t SnackSack’s fault. (It’s also possible, of course, that there’s nothing wrong with the product and that I’m just not a fan.) The value of the products included in this month’s box total approximately $18.50, which falls a little short of the discounted per-month cost of a 6-month subscription. This value is a bit lower than most of their previous boxes, so we’ll hopefully see an increase in value next month.

This “sack” hits all my preferences but I don’t like that gap. If it wasn’t for the value gap, I would order it. Oh well; they say it’s better to save anyway lol.

I’m a huge fan of Beanfield’s Chips. The Nacho flavor is pretty tasty.

Snackimals are one of my favorite snacks! I especially love the chocolate chip. I have never detected a strange odor, though. I would definitely throw the bag out without hesitation. Rancid sure sounds like a food safety issue to me…
