My Texas Market Monthly Subscription Box Review + Coupon October 2015 - 3

My subscription came in a sturdy cardboard box with the words "My Texas Market" inscribed out the top of the box.  When I opened it, there was a cute Thank You stamped on the upper lefthand corner and an inspirational stamp on the lower righthand corner.  I thought it was a nice, personal touch.  They also included "The Roster" of the items included in the box, along with their value.  I really love it when box companies do this!

LaLavenderia Aches & Pains Salt Soak and LaLavenderia Aches & Pains Pain Salve - $13.00

This salt soak is very fragrant; it smells like lavender and peppermint and it's definitely the first thing I noticed when I opened my box.  Sometimes I can handle lavender (I'm allergic to it) and I didn't have any problems while handling this one, so I think it's safe to use it.  Epsom salt is one of my favorite bath additives, so this is right up my alley.  The little spoon they sent was a nice touch too.

I haven't used the salve yet, but it will be put to use after my bath for sure!

Cornucopia Sweet and Smoky Barbeque 2.6 oz - $5.50

This popcorn is vegan, non GMO, and gluten free.  All of the ingredients are words I can pronounce!  Now for the bad news: this popcorn is literally (for reals literally) the best I have ever eaten in my entire life.  This is a problem people...I can't be shipping loads of popcorn to my house!  Plus, it looks like it is only seasonal...I might just have to eat it one kernel at a time.

Healthy Spice Blends carnivore grill rub - $9.00

Healthy Spice blends is a company that focuses on "blending medicinal spices into traditional flavors that offer variety to your palette, tantalize your taste buds, and support good health."   This mixture focuses on reducing carcinogens formed by grilling meat and more.  It can be used as a dry rub or in a marinade.

Sweet Aspen Jewels "Football Season" keychain - $16.00

I wasn't able to find the exact keychain I received in my box, but this one is quite similar. This is a very sturdy, well made bottle opener!  I don't drink (and to be truthful, I'm not interested in football at all) so this is going to be passed to my coworker who LOVES football and a few "coldies" every now and again.  After looking at Sweet Aspen Jewels Etsy shop though, there are quite a few keychains I love!

M.B. Vintage Essentials Beer Soap - $6.00

"The Roster" included said since they couldn't include beer in the box, they put the next best thing - beer soap.  This soap is good for bathing, shaving, and can even be used as a shampoo bar.  I'm traveling to Seattle this weekend, and plan to take a piece of it with me to try out as shampoo!  It smells amazing and the soap is a good size as well.  Can't wait to use it!

Stellar Gourmet lavender candied jalapeños - $5.50

When I pulled these out of the box, I could have squealed with excitement.  Even though I am allergic to lavender, I am somehow able to eat it and it is my favorite flavor!  My Texas Market recommends eating these with cream cheese and crackers - I am sure I will find multiple uses for them!

The verdict:  My Texas Market mentions specifically on their site that the value of the box will be between $35.00 and $40.00 per box.  They emphasize in the FAQ that you’re not getting a lot for free, but you’re getting high quality, local, handmade products like you would find at a farmers market.  I think that is an accurate depiction of the items I received.  With that said, the value of the box is right around $54.50, which is higher than their promised amount.  I am very happy with the value and the items received.  I thought it was a great mixture of items and they’re exactly the kind of items I would find at my local farmers market!

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane...the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane...but she's always looking for a new subscription to try!

I have a topical allergy to grapfruit confirmed by my doctor. I break out in a red rash. But for some reason i can eat it. It just cant touch my skin. Soon i may not even be able to eat it though. Now it makes my mouth itch. Odd… I guess allergies manifest themselves in different ways with different people.

I agree with you, my best friend is allergic to clams (doctor confirmed) and they’re her favorite food. Allergies are different for everyone, I see nothing wrong with what Bekki wrote. She isn’t claiming to be a doctor, this is just her personal experience.

That was a really entertaining review! I honestly didn’t want it to end..lol! You really made me want to subscribe to “My Texas Market”. I’m really curious about the beer soap. All I could imagine was the stale smell of beer, the next morning after a frat party.? Thanks for the time & effort on the review, it was greatly appreciated!??

Surprisingly, the soap doesn’t smell like beer at all. It’s a quite pleasant smell, but I can’t pinpoint what it is!

This box is bright, clever and packaged with a great eye for interesting products. I will keep an eye out for the next couple of reviews and may need to subscribe! I have to tease you a little though Bekki; you keep mentioning an allergy to Lavender yet you can apply it to your skin and EAT it!? Maybe it is more like a strong intolerance to certain types of Lavender or perhaps as you use small amounts you are making friends with the fragrant flower? Anyway, good review–very descriptive, thanks!

Tease away! Anytime I smell it I sneeze constantly and get congested – same with tea tree oil. Maybe not an allergy? Not sure, I’m just glad I can eat it! ?

I agree with the others–you probably don’t have a true allergy if you can handle and eat lavender. An allergy would give you hives and make you itch all over, and heaven help you if you ate it! Maybe you just have a sensitivity to pollen or certain fragrances.

I think I need one for me and one for my dad! Looks like a great Christmas gift. 🙂
