Citrus Mix Fruit Rock Candy by Raley's Confectionary (1.5 oz.)- $2.50
These citrus candies are so cute! I love how tart they are, and I think the packaging is great. Raley’s utilizes centuries old candy making techniques, but many of their designs have a modern twist. Take, for example, this Emoticon Mix.
Georgia Peach Cookies by Byrd's Famous Cookies (1.5 oz.)- $1.50*
Last month, I received Key Lime Cookies from Byrd’s Famous Cookies in a similar decorative box. I’m a little disappointed to see a repeat brand this month, but I can’t complain about the cookies- they’re peachy and delicious!
(*Note: I can’t find this exact box for sale on the Byrd website. The per pound price listed on the Byrd website breaks down to $1.50, but I imagine this box would retail for a bit more.)
Original Toffee Snack Pack by Hard Crack (6 cookie snack pack)- $1.50
These Toffee Cookies have a really nice balance of salty and sweet. Hard Crack recommends using them as a topping for ice cream or as a vehicle for cheese, but I’m happy to eat them plain!
Raspberry White Chocolate Cookie by Selma's Cookies (1 cookie)- $2.16
From the description in OrangeGlad’s brochure, it sounds like Selma’s Cookies are sold in a number of different theme parks, which I suppose isn’t too surprising for a cookie company based in Orando, Florida. OrangeGlad included one of Selma’s Raspberry White Chocolate cookies, and they suggest heating it up in the microwave for a few seconds before digging in. I wasn’t a big fan of this cookie straight out of the bag, but I did like it after it was warmed up a little.
Craft Beer & Pretzel Caramels by Shotwell Candy Company (1.1 oz.)- $2.62
I received a box of “Old Fashioned” Shotwell Caramels in a previous box from Mantry, and I was very impressed with them, so I’m thrilled to see a different flavor featured in this month’s OrangeGlad! I think the beer & pretzel combination is really clever, and the caramels are yummy. I don’t get a lot of flavor from the beer, but the salty pretzels add a nice crunch.
Verdict: I think this is the best OrangeGlad Sweet Box that I’ve received in a while. All of the items in this month’s box are tasty, but the citrus candy from Raley’s Confectionary especially impresses me. It’s such a fun addition to the box, and, as a lover of tart candy, I think it tastes fantastic. Last month’s box wasn’t a great one for me, so I’m pleased to see that this month’s box is full of yummy treats from a number of small bakeries that I haven’t tried before. The value is a little higher, too. This month’s products total almost $10.50, and, while that doesn’t meet the cost of the box, it’s back in line with what I’ve come to expect from OrangeGlad.
