Orange Glad Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Candy

Citrus Mix Fruit Rock Candy by Raley's Confectionary (1.5 oz.)- $2.50

These citrus candies are so cute! I love how tart they are, and I think the packaging is great. Raley’s utilizes centuries old candy making techniques, but many of their designs have a modern twist. Take, for example, this Emoticon Mix.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Peach

Georgia Peach Cookies by Byrd's Famous Cookies (1.5 oz.)- $1.50*

Last month, I received Key Lime Cookies from Byrd’s Famous Cookies in a similar decorative box. I’m a little disappointed to see a repeat brand this month, but I can’t complain about the cookies- they’re peachy and delicious!

(*Note: I can’t find this exact box for sale on the Byrd website. The per pound price listed on the Byrd website breaks down to $1.50, but I imagine this box would retail for a bit more.)

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review September 2015 - ToffeeCookie

Original Toffee Snack Pack by Hard Crack (6 cookie snack pack)- $1.50

These Toffee Cookies have a really nice balance of salty and sweet. Hard Crack recommends using them as a topping for ice cream or as a vehicle for cheese, but I’m happy to eat them plain!

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review September 2015 - RaspberryCookie

Raspberry White Chocolate Cookie by Selma's Cookies (1 cookie)- $2.16

From the description in OrangeGlad’s brochure, it sounds like Selma’s Cookies are sold in a number of different theme parks, which I suppose isn’t too surprising for a cookie company based in Orando, Florida. OrangeGlad included one of Selma’s Raspberry White Chocolate cookies, and they suggest heating it up in the microwave for a few seconds before digging in. I wasn’t a big fan of this cookie straight out of the bag, but I did like it after it was warmed up a little.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review September 2015 - Caramel

Craft Beer & Pretzel Caramels by Shotwell Candy Company (1.1 oz.)- $2.62

I received a box of “Old Fashioned” Shotwell Caramels in a previous box from Mantry, and I was very impressed with them, so I’m thrilled to see a different flavor featured in this month’s OrangeGlad! I think the beer & pretzel combination is really clever, and the caramels are yummy. I don’t get a lot of flavor from the beer, but the salty pretzels add a nice crunch.

Verdict: I think this is the best OrangeGlad Sweet Box that I’ve received in a while. All of the items in this month’s box are tasty, but the citrus candy from Raley’s Confectionary especially impresses me. It’s such a fun addition to the box, and, as a lover of tart candy, I think it tastes fantastic. Last month’s box wasn’t a great one for me, so I’m pleased to see that this month’s box is full of yummy treats from a number of small bakeries that I haven’t tried before. The value is a little higher, too. This month’s products total almost $10.50, and, while that doesn’t meet the cost of the box, it’s back in line with what I’ve come to expect from OrangeGlad.

How do you guys cancel? I’ve tried now for the past 3 months and they refuse to cancel me!! Every month there it is again on my bank statement where they charged me. I really don’t like they’re box that much! Plus, the other thing is mine is a double box because, of my family. So I’m paying $29.00 a month. I just want it cancelled!!!!!!!

This was my first box (got a deal for one box) and I emailed them a few days ago to ask to cancel and they gave me a reduction in cost for the next couple of months. So I really like their customer service so far.

I haven’t tried the caramels yet (my favorite type of sweet) but I really liked everything else in the box except the raspberry cookies. I got the double sweet box so I think I will try warming the next one.

My 6 month subscription is over next month and I can’t see myself renewing, I always end up disliking 1-2 items each box and to me, that’s not worth it. Those peach cookies were disgusting and that Raspberry white chocolate cookie was the worst cookie I’ve ever eaten in my life. Cancelled.

I liked the cookie so much that I stupidly placed an order for a dozen from QVC and they arrived stale despite paying for premium shipping. They’ll be hearing from me. Anyway, I also really liked those tart citrus candies.

I thought this was the worst box yet, I’m so tired of getting those hard candies and caramels. Even the toffee cookies we’ve gotten a few times before. Plus this box was missing any extra packaging at all, items just thrown into a box. My pack of toffee cookies somehow split open and went all over the inside of the box. I did email them about it and they sent out a whole replacement box right away. So I do like their customer service, but at $19/box this one is ridiculous. I was their biggest supporter, but $19/month with no extra cute packaging, no coupons, it’s not worth it.

I complained to Orange Box last month, feeling, as you did, the treats offered were mostly Ho-Hum and the value way under the price payed for the curation. I told them I would probably cancel based on what I was receiving. I was quickly sent a well composed email note acknowledging my concerns, while assuring they were committed to doing a good job and giving me a price break for a few months. I decided to give them another chance. I did like this box so we’ll see what the future brings?
