GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe-size or full size, and the value is usually really good too. The only issue with this box seems to be the late shipping – I would recommend just keeping that in mind and setting your expectations accordingly if you sign up for this box.

I think this is my favorite item in the box. It’s made with all-natural ingredients: Roasted coffee, brown sugar, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa, cinnamon.

It isn’t too oily, and I LOVE the cinnamon scent addition!

This is basically a lightweight oil. It isn’t scented, and can work for your face, hair, hands, cuticles, etc. I tried it out on my hands/cuticles, and I love how soft it made my skin feel – I’m a fan!

Emite Make Up Arist Colour Powder Blush in 108 – FULL SIZE! Value $22

(Swatched below). This blush is more pigmented than I was anticipating! (AKA – clown cheeks were achieved on first brush stroke). I like the color, and since it is so pigmented, this should last me a while!

Nails Inc Uptown Nail Polish – FULL SIZE! Value $14

(I found the gel effect version of this polish on the Nails Inc site, but not the standard version). I like this color a lot (I’m very into neutrals when it comes to nail polish), and this dusty blush pink creme is beautiful! (FYI – the polish name is listed in the info card, so I’m assuming all subscribers will receive the same color).

Julep Luxe Lip Conditioning Treatment in Sheer Coral – Retail Value $24

I wish GlossyBox wouldn’t include Julep products (only because I have a Julep subscription and I buy way too many Julep Mystery boxes), but I could see how this would be a good way to discover Julep if you aren’t already a subscriber. The formula isn’t sticky, and it adds a good amount of shine. (Swatched below).

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $73 (assuming the retail price listed for the Nails Inc polish is correct). I wasn’t too excited about the Julep lip gloss spoiler when I first saw it, but the rest of the box actually is a great fit for me. My favorite discovery is definitely the coffee scrub.

  1. I finally received my Sept Glossy Box today….so disappointed not to get the coffee scrub…instead I got a shampoo. On my profile I picked lip glosses….instead of the lip gloss, I got the lipstick. Well at least my blush came intact. UGH….hoping for a better box next month.

    • Same as you…I shouldn’t have peaked at spoilers because I was really disappointed to see that I got shampoo instead of the scrub and a bright red lipstick (another one, that I won’t use) instead of a gloss. I really don’t think they look at the profile descriptions 🙁

  2. I liked my Glossybox this month. I got the stixx lipstick in a nude color, biossance oil, benefits shampoo, a pink nail polish and the blush. I really like the shampoo and lipstick so far. The nailpolish color is pretty. The blush is dark and way too much comes off on the brush. It’s the one item I doubt I’ll use.

    • I got the same box you did. I was unhappy that the shampoo is not suitable for color-treated hair. So many of us put color in our hair. It seems easy and a no-brainer that shampoo that will not harm color-treated hair would be preferable (and also suitable for non-color-treated hair). So happy everyone if only they’d send a suitable product….

  3. Hi all! This is my first box that I got through the Rue La la deal for $15. I love this box and got the same as Liz Except I got a nice sized Glamglow Mud to Foam instead of the Coffea so I was little bummed about that. I also am one of the lucky few who received an intact blush. I did promptly cancel so as to not be charged but will definitely keep an eye on this subscription in hopes of resubbing 🙂

    • Any update from glossybox? I just got mine yesterday the blush was EVERYWHERE! The black ribbon was even coated in it…. I sent them an email yesterday and I’m still waiting on a reply.

  6. I’m happy with this month’s box! I really hope this means they’re on the upswing. 🙂

    My blush arrived fine, and I’m excited to try the Biossance product on my cuticles. I break out from oils on my face, so I can’t use it there, but I also have plenty of dry skin all over as the weather gets cooler and we start using the heat more, so I’ll definitely put it to good use.

    I think the nail polish color is pretty. I wear all different colors, and I think this one will look nice.

    I got Stixx lipstick instead of Julep, which I was hoping for. I got a pretty nude shade, so I’m happy with it.

    I didn’t get the coffee mask, but that’s fine with me, since I don’t put oils on my face. I got the 12 Benefits shampoo instead, which I’m happy to try.

    • I got the same box as you did. Unhappy with the shampoo that cannot be used for color-treated hair. Why can’t they just put in a shampoo that will work for regular and color-treated hair? So annoyed that I have tons of samples I cannot use!

    • Hi, I got the surprise blush box mess as well. Everything was a mess and sadly I had to throw away the box, which I like to keep for storage. This box however was for a gift, which I can’t gift now since I had to throw away the outer boxes for most of the items. I contacted them and received the list above. Did a quick search of half of the items and I’m disappointed to see they are no where near the value of the blush. Hope someone can give some recommendations as to what to pick from the list.

  8. This was my first box and I liked all the products, but I received The Aloe Source Luminosity masque instead of the scrub. I used it once at night, and I woke up that night with the most hideous case of hives that you ever saw. I’ve never had hives in my life, and I have no allergies at all-I guess up until now. I was hesitant to think it was this masque, but that was the only new thing I used or ingested the previous day. I’ve read that you can have a full allergic reaction to a beauty product, instead of just a face outbreak. I was wondering if anyone used this product and what their experience was? Thanks!

      • Hey Gabrielle,

        Before I used this product, I looked at the container, and saw that it was USA made. That’s usually a good sign right there. No ingredients listed. Do you really think customers are going to go the company website and study the ingredients, for every sample they receive? You also just threw all your beauty providers under the bus, by saying that these things come “from all over the globe,” i.e., we don’t know what the heck is in this stuff.

        With all due respect, lame answer. If you want me to check out the ingredients, put it on your description card. And I use all kinds of different products, and had no problem until now.

        • I came up with the ingredients list in a 5 second google search: http://thealoesource.com/luminosity-masque

          Truthfully, allergic reactions are caused by allergies to a particular protein. And all living things contain proteins. And most beauty products on the market contain botanical ingredients, therefore, they contain proteins that some percent of the population will statistically be allergic to. Look at that ingredient list and take note of all the botanicals (i.e. corn, papaya, pineapple, aloe, and Epilobium Angustifolium aka fireweed). The first 4 ingredients I listed are pretty commonly used in our diets and beauty products, so those aren’t the likely culprits. Fireweed is a less commonly used ingredient, so it’s likely the culprit. You could, if you were so inclined, purchase another product that contains fireweed and perform a patch test to confirm this; alternatively, see if a doctor can perform an allergy test for fireweed. Or, you could just avoid using any products that contain fireweed in the future.

          All the other ingredients listed are not proteins, therefore you cannot have allergic reactions to them. You could possibly have an irritant reaction to them, but if you use a product according to its instructions, that occurrence is exceedingly rare.

          What I just described above is the best logical path to follow when you experience an allergic reaction. You have to do some sleuthing.

          • Thanks so much for that info, Jamie. I had an allergic reaction to an herbal supplement I was taking and had no idea how to research it. Now I realize that, being plant matter, it must have contained a protein I reacted to. But here’s the weird part: after the hives went away, I continued to use the product (because of all the other positive benefits) and the hives never came back. Do you know why? Did my body just get used to the protein? Or perhaps I was wrong about what caused them in the first place? Any input very welcome and thanks!

  10. My blush arrived fine, but its too dark for my pale skin so it’ll be on the swap site. I dodged the julep item because I got a lipstick that is way too bright for me in tangerine (also on swap site). I love the design though and wish it was in a color I could have used. I also rec’d 12 benefits shampoo, and the same polish and oil that Liz posted. (Oil also up for swap since I’m getting 2 of them.) I think the box has a good value, and I’m happy with 3 of the items so that covers the $15 I paid for it with the discounts. I have another one on the way (don’t know how I managed to overlap my subscriptions from ruelala) and I’m hoping to get the coffee scrub in that one. Guess I’ll find out Monday.

  12. I was looking forward to receiving the coffee scrub but instead got a small benefit they’re real mascara. My blush was smashed all through the box. ? I’ve been contacting glossybox for days with no response. I used to love this sub, but am getting so close to cancelling.

    • Glossybox just replied to my email regarding the broken blush. They are sold out of the emite blush, but gave me a long list of products to pick from as a replacement. I’ll be getting a doucce gloss or beauty blender as a replacement. Don’t hesitate to contact glossybox if you haven’t. ?

  14. I just got my first box today. I got exactly the items described here, plus the mascara, and was quite pleased with it, since I haven’t used makeup in a while, and needed some basics. I won’t be able to use the blush, since my skin is too red and don’t want to use a bunch of foundation, but plan to use everything else, and appreciate that it’s in pretty low key pink tones and a nice smelling scrub I could make more of. It makes sense people would have enough of those same things after a while though.

  15. I’m happy I didn’t receive the coffee scrub. I can make that myself and often do! I am looking forward to the oil and the polish is a nice shade. My blush was broken up as well but it won’t be a problem, shouldn’t make a difference. I can always use mascara but I agree about the lip gloss. Great way to introduce julep but I have a subscription and the only gloss I ever use happens to be by julep just a different color. I’ll still give it a try! Niçe box.

  16. Just got mine and no coffee scrub. That was the only item I was really looking forward to! I got the same Benefit they’re real mascara I got from them last month. I think I’m on the rotation that always gets the random item. Bummer!

  17. I just received my September box. I was pleased with all the items except for the fact that I received a small size of 12 Benefits love at first lather foam shampoo instead of the Caffea coffee scrub 🙁 I was really looking forward to receiving the scrub after all the positive feedback I had read about it. I just don’t like getting hair products in my boxes. I am very particular about my hair products since my hair is professionally colored and permed. I am planning to cancel one of my subscription boxes this month to save some money. Just can’t decide between Glossybox and Boxycharm. I am leaning toward keeping Boxycharm. The last several boxes from them have been exceptionally good!

  18. Since Glossybox is now monitoring this thread…

    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE no more pink nail polish. I have gotten more bottles of it from you this year than I can use in a lifetime.

    I love nail polish and I am usually happy to get it in boxes. I understand that I will not always like every color I receive (I hate, hate, hate pink and am not a fan of pastels or nudes). But I would like some variation in color, please! Something bright once in awhile would be nice.

    Also, for what it’s worth, I already subscribe to Julep and am not really interested in seeing any more Julep products in Glossyboxes. I like most Julep products, but I can get them as cheap add-ons to my monthly box or during a sale.

    • I love pink polish. The bright odd colors are just not my taste. We should get together!

    • Agreed on the polish!! In my profile I even put that I don’t use nail polish, but I feel like I get a bottle EVERY MONTH. It’s like 20% of the box is useless to me.

  21. Did anybody actually get the coffee scrub? Mine didn’t have it and the pamphlet didn’t include it so I wasn’t supposed to.

    • Nope, and I was pretty disappointed that I didn’t. Oh well, it’s reasonably priced for a small-sized so I’m going to check it out. I cancelled my sub since I found BoxyCharm, which costs the same and the boxes are much better. Worth at LEAST $100+ per month.

  22. This was my first AND last glossybox. it feels like I got ripped off. The blush is horribly chalky and overpigmented. I ran my finger across it lightly and… yeah, no thanks. I’m too fair-skinned for it, even if the formula was good. I’ll just pass this one on to someone else who has darker skin. I’ll stick with my Stila 2-in-1 cream blush which is the exact shade as this, but goes on sheer, so you have more control over the intensity of it.

    Julep gloss, not impressed with the formula. I like that sticky formula if and when I wear gloss. I barely wear it.

    The nail polish is pretty and I guess I’ll put it to use since I don’t have any colors like it in my nail polish collection.

    The oil I need to try, although I’m not big on oils on my skin, so I’ll put it on my split ends.

    Benefit They’re Real mascara is possibly the only thing I’ll end up using besides the polish. I don’t care about the thickening or lengthening properties of it bc I wear false lashes every day, and I only need a thin coat of it to put on beforehand so my lashes don’t stick out straight.

    I’m looking forward to receiving my IPSY tomorrow. And this month’s Boxycharm looks amazing, and I hope to be receiving this in the next week or so as well.

  23. My blush was broken up into chunks and was all over the inside of the box. I wish that when they shipped cake type makeup the would pad it a bit. Needless to say I probably wouldn’t have used the blush anyway…way too dark for my skin. If I decide to keep it I will have to dump it into a little jar. The other item look pretty interesting though.

  24. I just received my September box and the Emite blush basically exploded. You only imagine what kind of mess it was if you can get clown cheeks with just a few strokes! I hope the Glossybox customer service is timely.

    • That’s crazy!!! My blush came the exact same way in my box… It was all over everything!!!! This blush must been a very delicate product because I truly don’t understand how it could’ve shattered the way it did… I mean it wasn’t just broken into pieces it was completely smashed inside it’s casing and all powder but there was no damage to the case at all which makes no sense. These boxes had to have been thrown around really hard during delivery or they were already broken that way and Glossybox packed them up that way and shipped them anyway… Who knows! Maybe the Emité Makeup company

  27. Glossybox was always a fantastic monthly subscription I’m truly hoping they can start producing a better product or people will take their money elsewhere. I’m simply stating facts with this comment. The box values use to be well over 100.00 similar to boxycharm and both boxes cost 21.00. Now the box still costs 21.00 but the value is more along the lines of what I would expect from ipsy or Birchbox which only costs 10.00. I’m going to hang in another month or two to see what they do before I decide to end my subscription or not.

  28. I got a pretty good box from Glossybox this month. City Cosmetics Eye serum, – $90 on Amazon-, eyeliner, nail polish, all full size! mascara and cleanser samples. I was happy with my box. I always envied Liz’s box but finally got what I thought was a better one this time!

  32. This box looks good, but Glossybox has not been blazing a red hot trail lately, the UK version actually seems a lot better, I wish they delivered in the U.S.

  33. I actually like this box. I have that Julep gloss so I’m hoping to get the lipstick and in a dark shade. I might swap the blush though because I doubt it’ll show up on my complexion.

  34. This is a little bit better than I was expecting. I want that coffee scrub and oil! But the rest of the box is meh. I’ve heard only horrible things about that Julep gloss, and I don’t need anymore blush or nail polish, so no regrets about passing on this month.

  35. I’m canceling my subscription, and this is my last box. When I first started getting glossybox, I thought it was a great value, but now I leave it sitting for weeks without even wanting to open it. It’s turned in to such a disappointment, and I would rather spend my money on something else. I hope they can turn it around, because they used to be quite good.

  36. I would be happy with this exact box. I don’t wear dark lip colors, so I am hoping to get one of the 2 julep lite colors. If I get a lip stick I will definitely be swapping it. Knowing my luck I will end up with a dark lip stick 🙁

  37. I think I’d like that scrub and maybe the oil. Not sure about the blush. The nail polish would be okay, probably use it more as a base for a glittery topcoat than alone.

  38. I hated this box when I first looked at it, but it’s growing on me. The coffee scrub could be neat. I don’t usually wear nail polish but that looks like a really good color. I may try it.

  39. Glossybox has been consistently disappointing for well over a year. I’m really hoping I get the lipstick. I saw it on Urban Outfitters and it looks awesome! I think it’s kind of bogus to send a Julep product in another subscription box since so many of us already get Julep every month.

  40. I love this box more than last 2 months. Hoping I receive the lipstick since I’m overloaded with lip glosses at the moment.

    LOL I won’t go into how many GlossyBoxes I have filled with lipsticks and lip glosses (7 boxes and adding more each month). I don’t have a problem! I talked to my shrink about it. 🙂

    • It is also the first phrase I think of to describe what I look like with too much blush! (I am super pale so I have to be very careful with new cheek colors unless I want to re-wash my face and start over again…)

What have you have chosen on you my beauty profile to get the type of products like the ones you received this month because I never seem 2 get anything good… I’m always getting nothing but face products like face creams, face soaps, face masks hair products and I seem to get an eyeliner with EVERY dang box that comes EVERY month … Ugh!!! I’d LOVE 2 get stuff like maybe lip liners instead of those dang eyeliners which I seem 2 have enough of now (thank you Glossybox!) … I have received a nail polish once in awhile but I’d like 2 get maybe blushes, bronzers and I’d really LOVE a perfume now and then!!! I’m always seeing other people recieved those things and one of the lady’s that I spoke with at Glossybox told me that they use our profiles to choose what they feel best suits us to put in the boxes so it makes me wonder what am I choosing on my beauty profile that would suggest I would prefer the kinda sample they keep sending me…
    CAN ANYBODY HELP ME OUT WITH MY QUESTION???

      I know what you mean , seems every month I get a eyeliner as well 3 black and one navy so far What is weird is I chose ” natural” or “little makeup ” on my profile .
      Maybe we can swap boxes hahaha !! ?

      • Glossybox isn’t really customizable. So I don’t think they pay much attention to the profiles. They do have box variations, but it seems random who gets those.

Then you would love the boxes I get every month!… I would totally LOVE to get the kind of beauty products you seem to be receiving every month… The only makeup I keep getting in my box are eyeliners… I’m so freakin sick an tired of these dang eyeliners!!! I don’t want anymore dang eyeliners but they just keep sending them every single month!!! I also keep getting the type of products that you are talking about and would like to see in your box but I have no idea why I keep getting them… I don’t know what I’ve marked on my beauty profile that would suggest that those are the type of products I would like… I wish I knew what to mark on my beauty profile so that they would consider sending more makeup instead…

      • Obviously their profile method is not very efficient in keeping subscribers happy. It’s like they need to re-format the profiles to include what people DO NOT WANT and what items people DO WANT.

        I understand it will not always be perfect, but come on! When we want to trade entire boxes…..something isn’t working there!

  47. I’m looking forward to receiving this box – while it isn’t the most high value box, it looks like it contains items that I’ll actually use. Last month I only kept one item from my Glossybox, so I’m happy to be receiving items that are more applicable to me.

  48. I still have glossy dots to redeem but I decided to cancel anyway. Glossy box has been so disappointing for the past 6 months that I couldn’t waste anymore money.

  49. It’s not a bad box but I’m probably going to cancel when I have redeemed my points for a free Glossybox. I have gotten like 4 or 5 pink nail polishes from Glossybox in the last year. I won this Nails Inc. shade in a Fan Friday Giveaway from Glossybox last year in both regular and gel effects formulas so I certainly don’t need another one.
