I love both of these items! This print is really sweet and the design will fit easily into just about any décor.

Plum Deluxe ‘Vista Blend’ Herbal Tea – 1 oz, value: $7

I’m actually drinking this tea as I write this and I have to say that I’m a fan. It’s really calming and I like the lavender in it.

Silver Key Pendant Necklace – value: $17.50

Silver and simple – my style of jewelry! I definitely like this necklace a lot.

Starlooks Pro Luxe Longwear Eye Liner Pen – full-size, value: $19

I love when new products are included in subscription boxes! This eyeliner pen has a felt tip to make it easy to control your liquid liner application. You can see a swatch below. (FYI for swaps – this item comes with a plastic seal)

The Sudsy Soapery Oatmeal, Milk and Honey Guest Bar Soap – 2 oz?, value: $3

This soap smells really great and has a nice and simple ingredient list. I’m looking forward to using this!

Here’s the swatch of the eyeliner. Personally, I’m not thrilled with the performance. I found the formula bled and, despite supposedly being “waterproof,” it too little effort to wipe off under just warm water.

Coupons

Dottie Box always includes coupons, promo codes, and business cards for some of that month’s featured brands.

The Verdict: Dottie Box sends such a wide variety of items, so I never really know what I’m going to get. Fortunately, this month was a really great month for me! Except for the eyeliner, I’m pretty excited about everything. As far as value goes, everything adds up to $62.33, which is a great value! I’m definitely happy with my box this month.

I also thought the eyeliner was just weird and not what I signed up for.. but there were plenty of other nice things. The necklace seems way overpriced on their card. The tea smells wonderful and the soap has that genuinely handmade vibe that I was looking for from Dottiebox. The paper goods were both nice items, too.

I find it incredibly odd that Dottiebox chose to include a mass produced cheap Chinese eyeliner in the box. It really goes against the “high quality handmade items, small businesses, and indie brands” branding they have.

MSA regular commenter nana has posted a few times on this brand/item, under August’s Beauty Box 5 and ipsy reviews: “I researched it, and it’s basically a generic Chinese eyeliner branded for different small retailers. It last appeared on Ipsy last year under the brand Skone Cosmetics. In my blog review of the Ipsy bag (click on my name to read it), I listed some of the companies that sell it under their own brands.”

Katie, that’s a very good point! Interesting.

Katie, I got that eyeliner in my last Ipsy bag and I got the Skone eyeliner last year. How funny that they’re the same! I felt the same way about both, so it makes sense. At first I was excited to try a new type of eyeliner applicator, but it streaks and I had to wait for it to dry then go back and fill it in again. It never completely fills in. I have to agree that this eyeliner was an odd inclusion for a box like this.

I really like the necklace. Haven’t tried the eyeliner yet, as I have lots of black eyeliners. Like everything else, too.
