MunchPak includes a card signed by the person who packed your box. Keep in mind that boxes vary between subscribers, so your MunchPak might be completely different from mine!
On the card, there’s information about how to customize your box. Using their online portal, you can select ingredients as “preferred” or “non-preferred.” While this does not guarantee that those snacks will or will not be sent, it increases the likelihood that your box will suit your particular tastes. MunchPak charges $1 per customization request per delivery. So, for example, if you want to avoid “Seafood” and “Meat” snacks, each box will cost an extra $2.
Tayto Prawn Cocktail Crisps (37 g.)- $2
Prawn Cocktail is a very popular chip flavor in the UK & Ireland (Tayto is an Irish company), and my husband is a big fan. Personally, I don’t really get it. These chips are tasty, but they don’t taste like shrimp to me at all. Instead, I’d describe the flavor as vaguely reminiscent of BBQ and ketchup.
Walkers French Fries Worcester Sauce (21 g.)- $3
These crispy, puffed potato sticks are make in the UK and have a deep, tangy flavor and a nice crunch. If I squinted at them from a distance, they’d probably look just like real French fries, but the similarities pretty much end there. Still, I’m a little tempted to try dipping them in ketchup…
Pejoy Cookies and Cream (1.98 oz.)- $4
I’m a big fan of Pejoy, so I’m happy to see them in my MunchPak! For this flavor, flaky chocolate biscuit sticks are filled with a cookies and cream filling. They’re delicious.
Koalas March Green Tea Matcha Flavor (1.45 oz.)- $2
Koalas March always gives me flashbacks to childhood. They were sold for a short time in the US as Koala Yummies and were always a welcome sight in my grade school lunchbox! The thin outer shell of these cookies contains a creamy filling, and I love the different koala designs that are printed on the front. This is my first time trying the matcha flavor, and I like the subtle taste of green tea.
Super Rebanaditas with Chilli (.88 oz)- $.26
I received a Super Rebanaditas lollipop in last month’s MunchPak, but I liked it and am happy to receive another one. The pop is watermelon-flavored and coated in chili powder. The mix of sweet and spice is a classic Mexican combination.
This candy reminds me of lemon-flavored Starburst, but the chewy candies differentiate themselves with a fizzy, powdered filling. From a little online research, it seems that this is a classic, retro UK candy.
Toxic Waste Sour Candy Drums- $2
Toxic Waste is a US candy that I’ve had many times before. The individually wrapped candies are almost identical to War Heads, and they have the same super sour coating.
Benim’o is a Turkish candy that consists of chocolate covered marshmallow cakes that are dipped in coconut. These aren’t my favorite treat in this MunchPak, but my husband is a fan of them.
Mui-Bon- $1.40
MunchPak describes this Mexican bar perfectly: “take Ferrero Rocher, mold it into the slim crunchy form of a Kit Kat, and add the more-or-less hazelnut flavor of Nutella, and you’ve got Mui-Bon Aveliana.”
Fudo is a Malaysian Twinkie-like snack that’s really tasty. Admittedly, I’m not sure what Pandan tastes like, but the cake has a vaguely fruity flavor that I enjoy. Unlike the photo, my roll didn’t contain a thick layer of filling, though.
Chiky is a popular Cosa Rican snack, and I think this is my first time sampling a snack food from there. The vanilla Chiky cookies are a simple treat but very tasty.
Verdict: I really enjoy receiving boxes from MunchPak, and I think they do an excellent job introducing me to new and unusual international snacks. I can’t do a value breakdown for this box (since many of the snacks are not listed for sale online), but I think the $19.95 price for this box is fair. I enjoy the personalized curation, and I always have a great time discovering new snacks from around the world.
