Bonus Mystery Sample Trio with $50+ Birchbox Shop Purchase

For a limited time, you will get this free Mystery Sample Trio with any Birchbox shop order of $50 or more.

Plus, you can combine it with the regular free mystery sample pack, so you’ll get a total of 5 free samples with your order!

How to do this deal (it’s a little confusing): Don’t add the Mystery Sample Trio to your cart – you’ll just receive it in any order of $50 of more (it won’t appear in the cart). Do add the free mystery sample pack though – it will appear in your cart as a $10 item, and then $10 will be deducted in the subtotal.

AND don’t forget to combine it with a 20% off coupon! Try: TAKEALEAP20, TAKEOFF20, COMEBACK20, WELCOMEOFFER20, MOBILE20, or TAKEOFF10.

Full Details: *To qualify for the free Mystery Sample Trio, you must place an order totaling $50 or greater of full-size product(s) on Birchbox.com; subscription orders do not qualify for this offer. Please note that the Mystery Sample Trio will not appear in your shopping cart, but you will receive it in the shipment of the product(s) you ordered. One Mystery Sample Trio per customer. Offer available only while supplies last. In order to return any item in your order, you must also return the gift.

  1. I got my complete order today with both mystery sample packs, and they were both great. Only one foil out of five samples. Hope others had the same luck!

  2. I too added both mystery samples. I just received my shipping confirmation email. I received one where they removed the trio then I received a second email an hour later saying the trio will ship separately from my order. I hope this mean everyone who added both will get both!

  3. You can NOT get the trio sample and the regular mystery. I ordered this under 2 accounts, had both sample packs added, had them show up in the email confirmation for both accounts, and then the trio was taken off – seen in the shipping email.

    • This happened to me too, and I am not pleased that the trio was removed rather than the duo. I am in the small minority of people who have had pretty crappy experiences with Birchbox CS, and I guess I’m gearing up for another one. Bummer.

      • I was pretty bummed that I was given the duo also and not the trio. Birchbox did give me 50 points to make up for this, but I’m still annoyed. You should email them and try to get the 50 points as well.

        • Interesting. I came back to report that I got a second shipping confirmation a couple of hours after the first, just for the trio, and that was without sending a complaint to BB! I am happy to know that I’ll get all that was in my purchase confirmation, but sorry for everyone told they can’t have both. Confusing and misleading. Glad you at least got some points, Sarah. Wish this were being handled consistently and more fairly. :/

  4. FYI-you cannot get both mystery subscription packs. I was told in an email from birchbox customer service that since I got the regular mystery pack I cannot get the other one as well. I’m not sure if CS is giving me incorrect information or if this post is incorrect. Did anyone successfully get both packs?

    • Aw, man! I did it like this said and added the regular one to my cart. Oh well I suppose. 🙂

  5. I went for it, even though my last several mystery packs have been all foils. Fingers crossed for good surprises this round!

I got the CEW Mass Appeal box, a Baggu, a Vasanti scrub, a mini pair of Tweezerman tweezers, the two mystery packs, my anniversary keychain, cashed in $40 in points, used a 20% coupon code, and came out at $22. Sometimes Birchbox just blows me away!

  6. Placed a $58 order last night using all my points then got this email this morning so I called CS and they were nice enough to send me one anyway! Honestly, the customer service of Birchbox is why I will never leave!

  7. Liz is right and I’m guessing too many people were feeling uneasy about not seeing the Mystery Sample Trio in the cart; Birchbox just sent an email stating “**To qualify for the free Mystery Sample Trio, you must place an order totaling $50 or greater of full-size product(s) on Birchbox.com; subscription orders do not qualify for this offer. The price of the trio will reduce to $0 once added to your cart on qualifying orders. One Mystery Sample Trio per customer. Offer available only while supplies last. In order to return any item in your order, you must also return the gift.” I’m sure Birchbox(their Customer Service is awesome) will honor the Mystery Sample Trio offer for orders over $50 regardless of how you place your order(whether you add the Mystery Sample Trio to the cart or not,) as long as supplies last.

    • Yes, I ordered earlier before they changed the language, and after I ordered I got nervous so I IM’d with CS to make sure that I was going to get the trio and the woman I texted with made it sound like I should have added it to my cart (and shouldn’t have added the regular mystery sample pack) even though it wasn’t subtracting the $15 at the time I had tried to do it that way. CS was very nice about it and fixed my order.

      Whew! I do love BB.

  8. From the email:

**To qualify for the free Mystery Sample Trio, you must place an order totaling $50 or greater of full-size product(s) on Birchbox.com; subscription orders do not qualify for this offer. The price of the trio will reduce to $0 once added to your cart on qualifying orders. One Mystery Sample Trio per customer. Offer available only while supplies last. In order to return any item in your order, you must also return the gift.

  9. I added the trio to my cart, applied 20% off and it took off the $15, and the discount. The trio mystery pack showed up in my cart and in my order confirmation. Although, I couldn’t add the trio from the app.

  10. my subtotal was $70.95 but after my points and 20% discount it was $38. will I get the mystery sample trio?

  11. Random question: Does anyone know when (if ever) we’re getting that full sized eyeliner they were supposed to put in a previous box?

    • They said in a future box so it’s anyone’s guess. I personally wouldn’t hold my breath. I actually loved the Marcelle eyeliner they substituted it with that I bought 5 more full size in different colors.

  12. I ordered how the post said to (didn’t add it to my cart), but now I’m pretty sure that’s not correct. If you add a product that costs over $50, and actually add the sample trio pack it will take off the $15.

Where did the instructions that you didn’t have to add it to your cart come from?

    • This is from the email Birchbox sent:
Full Details: *To qualify for the free Mystery Sample Trio, you must place an order totaling $50 or greater of full-size product(s) on Birchbox.com; subscription orders do not qualify for this offer. Please note that the Mystery Sample Trio will not appear in your shopping cart, but you will receive it in the shipment of the product(s) you ordered. One Mystery Sample Trio per customer. Offer available only while supplies last. In order to return any item in your order, you must also return the gift.

      Hope that helps clarify!

    • I tried doing it that way (adding it to the cart to see if it would take $15 off at the end) and even took out the regular mystery sample pack to see if it would only do one or the other and I couldn’t get it to take off the $15. So it seems like it should work the way the fine print says.

However, I haven’t hit “order” yet, because I was kind of hoping to get the email offer from Birchbox myself so that if the mystery trio sample pack doesn’t show up I can email customer service and show them I received the offer and placed the order like they said in their instructions. I don’t know why I get some email offers from them and not others (I’m an ACE).

  13. well, now I feel like a fool.. Was told I had $30 in points, so I purchased a blinc mascara through the app. They added $5 shipping to that. I didn’t add anything free or purchase anything else to meet thresholds for free stuff bc I thought I was using my points. Then after the purchase was complete, I realized my points didn’t apply and I paid $31 plus tax for that one mascara I could have just picked up at Sephora. Fail

    • E-mail them. BB has a great customer service. Maybe they can credit your card and apply the points to your order.

      • Thanks- I will try that.

    • You can also use the chat on the website, I cancel an order last week where I used my point because I forgot to add the samples and after they cancel my order I was able to purchase again using my points within 5 minutes, all the point where posted back to my account and I was able to place the order again.

    • You still qualify for any offers and bonus samples even if you use your points. For example, a few weeks ago I bought both of the CEW boxes. One was $18 and the other was $15, but you got $5 off if you ordered both. Each of the were valued at over $50, so I got over $100 of products for $28. There was also a promotion where you got a small jar of Well People bio brightener powder free with a $25 purchase. I bought a package of deodorant wipes for $2.49 to bring my pre discount total to $35.49. Since my total was now over $35, I was able to add the $10 sample package for free. After the $5 discount on the boxes, my total was $30.49. I used my $30 in points to pay for it, bringing my grand total to 49 cents! My only problem is, I thought that the brightener powder was supposed to include a brush. 😉

  14. $50 before discounts or after?

  15. Oh man it makes me really nervous not adding it to the cart and it not showing up in the cart via coupon code! But I have a say yes code for 20% off of $50 that I haven’t used because I always try to spend $35, lol, so I am going to give it a shot! Thanks for the heads up Liz!

  16. Not entirely sure how this works — I assumed you had to add it to the cart like a regular mystery pack. When I did, it charges me $15 even though I have more than $50 in my cart.

    • Sorry, it is confusing! The mystery trio pack you don’t add to your cart, it will just be in your order of $50 or more when your package arrives. (It won’t show up in the cart). Hope that helps!
