30 Days of Candy Subscription Box Review - August 2015 - Box

30 Days of Candy is a new subscription box that sends “30 unique, individually packaged, expertly curated, deliciously indulgent, and portion controlled candies every month, all centered around a fun theme.”

Unlike many subscriptions that send the same monthly shipment to all subscribers, 30 Days of Candy sends their boxes in a particular sequence. This means that if you sign up for a new subscription your subscription will begin with Box #1- "Around the world in 30 sweets! 30 candies from 30 countries."

This is a review of Box #3.

30 Days of Candy Subscription Box Review - August 2015 - Card1

Each box from 30 Days of Candy has its own theme. The theme for Box #3 is “the candy of our grandparents and great grandparents! 30 candies that are good enough to have stood the test of time for at least 80 years, often longer.”

Since this box includes 30 different packs (a lot!), I’ve selected a few packs to feature at the start of the review and have listed the rest at the bottom.

Necco Wafers

Necco Wafers have always been one of my favorite old-fashioned candies! I like the crunchy texture and range of flavors. It’s funny; I had an “AHA!” moment recently with Necco Wafers when I realized that Necco also makes the ubiquitous Valentine’s Day candy conversation hearts. I was flabbergasted to realize that they’re basically the same candy!

Barnier Mini Pulp

This candy is a new discovery for me. The small hard candies have a soft center and come in a variety of fruity flavors.

30 Days of Candy Subscription Box Review - August 2015 - AbbaZabba1

Abba-Zabba

I’ve never heard of Abba-Zabba either, but I LOVE the name. It’s a peanut butter-filled taffy that has the look and texture of an Air Head. It’s chewy and really delicious.

French Chews

French Chews were developed in Cincinnati in 1871, before taffy was a well-known candy. Interestingly, one of the company’s first clients was the Cincinnati Red Stockings, America’s first baseball team!

30 Days of Candy Subscription Box Review - August 2015 - Next

30 Days of Candy also included a card revealing the theme for Box #4. It will be: “Candy from behind the Iron Curtain. 30 candies from Eastern Europe.”

Verdict: I really enjoy 30 Days of Candy, and I think this month’s theme is a lot of fun. Many of the candies featured in this box are new to me, and I had a great time taking a trip down candy’s memory lane! I like that 30 Days of Candy sends candy in pre-portioned packs, and I enjoy picking out a pack or two to snack on each evening. In terms of value, the cost breaks down to $1.20 per pack. I think this is a really fun concept for a candy box, and I’m looking forward to sampling all of this month’s old-fashioned candies in the coming days!

What do you think of the old-fashioned candies in Box #3 from 30 Days of Candy?

Any chance of more reviews on this box? I love seeing what they send and the themes for each one.

I absolutely love this subscription. It took some convincing and a couple promo codes to convince me to commit to spending this much on candy every month, but I’ve never regretted it. I reuse all of the plastic bags when I ship small samples with swaps. The card inserts have relevant and interesting information on the outside and something fun on the inside. I read everything and genuinely appreciate the amount of time that is put into bringing this collection together every month.

I appreciate the reviews every month. The box is so painstakingly assembled that it would be incredibly time-consuming to review it piece by piece every month. It’s nice to get a look at the theme every month on MSA.

In case anyone else is interested, they offer a one-time purchase of the first box in the series (around the world candies) if you want to give it a try or give a gift. I’m so excited about getting this for my son for Christmas. He has a huge sweet tooth and I know he will love it. It’s nice to be able to get something for a 17 year old that isn’t just electronics or cash LOL

I decided to sign up because I loved seeing some of the old candies, some I’d never seen or heard of before. I’m very sure this will be true of the first box, International candies.

When I checked that I was a new customer, I immediately got a screen for 30% off. ( the code IS ” 30%OFF”).

I thought I’d share because people seem to like the concept a great deal.
Thank you for a great review!! 🙂

I wish they sold these by the box. They are a little pricey for my taste but I would splurge for the Eastern European candy box for sure.

I agree. Essentially you’re paying 1 dollar a day for not even 10 cents worth of candy. Plus all that individual packaging, urgh, what a waste.

Crystal

I agree that the individual packaging seems like a huge waste. It’s what’s preventing me from pulling the trigger on this sub. So much non-recyclable plastic that is going to go straight in the garbage.

I just received my second box, and I’m so excited about box #3! I <3 Abba Zaba!

I have just received my 3rd box and am really enjoying this subscription. My granddaughter and I take turns picking out a package to try and enjoy reading the informational cards that come in each package. This subscription seems to be well thought out and attractively packaged. At the end of the weekend I keep a few for myself and send the rest of the box home with her to share.

I’m super tempted by this one! I’m not sure if I have the self control to only have one bag a day, LOL. Anyway to get this added to the box directory so I can at least wishlist it and dream? 🙂

Me too! And yes can we get this one added to the directory? I keep having to search for it when i want to look at the candy haha.
