Stitch Fix Maternity Review – July 2015 - BOX

Stitch Fix is a monthly styling subscription service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey about your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences, and then your personal stylist sends you 5 items to try once a month. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

Stitch Fix recently began offering maternity clothes and I’m pregnant (due in August!) so I’m checking out their selection to help me build my maternity wardrobe!

FYI – My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Here’s the note from my stylist – I love how personal and enthusiastic these notes tend to be!

And this is my invoice sheet. It lists the prices per item and the discount I’d receive by keeping all 5 items.

LA Made Maternity Lua Maternity Tank – Cost to Keep: $38

I really like this tank top – I feel like the color is really flattering to my complexion, it’s really soft, and the straps don’t give me an issue in the back. To elaborate on that last bit: usually tank tops like this seem to be either racer back, or not quite racer back but still have the straps narrow weirdly in the back so that your bra straps still show. I do have a hard time justifying the almost $40 price tag for a simple ribbed tank, but I’ll keep it for the 5-item discount if I end up loving everything else.

Renee C Avia Printed Maxi Skirt – Cost to Keep: $58

This skirt is awesome. It’s definitely not something I would have picked for myself off a rack. I love wearing maxi dresses but am generally unsure as to how to style maxi skirts. I’ve thought about buying a plain black one to make it easier but I can never seem to like how it looks, so the fact that I’m digging this pattern is rocking my socks. Also, it’s thin but not see-through (although one should be selective of the undergarments they choose to wear with it).

In my feedback for last month, I specifically asked for more bright colors, so I’m thrilled my stylist pulled through with that! In her note, she suggests pairing this tank with this skirt – there is a little bit of teal in the very bottom but I would probably prefer to pair it with the red/pink that’s a more prominent accent color, or match that cobalt blue.

Loveapella Maternity Azalea Cold Shoulder Maternity Knit Top – Cost to Keep: $48

This top is the same color as the tank, but I’m glad that it’s a color I like so much! I wasn’t sure how I felt about these shoulder cut-outs at first, but I think they’re a really attractive detail without being over-the-top (done the wrong way/too long, they could look like gypsy sleeves).

Market & Spruce Lynn Maternity Knit Top – Cost to Keep: $48

Again, I’m just loving the bright colors and this pattern. The fit is also spot-on with this top, including the length of sleeves. Basic tops and easy-to-wear items like this get the most use from me, so I know this one’s a keeper.

Urban Expressions Skyline Zip Flap Crossbody Bag – Cost to Keep: $48

This is the first month I changed my style quiz so that bags aren’t on my “do not send” list. This mint purse is really cute! It has a great size – it can hold everything I need from day to day, but it’s not so big it’ll get really heavy easily. I also think the price is very reasonable for a high quality bag like this. The only thing is that I definitely prefer silver hardware but that can be a tough demand to meet with purses – to find a design, style, and color you love as well as specific color metal!

Here are some more detail shots for you:

(The leather’s color here is unfortunately washed out a little bit and looks more blue than the mint green it definitely is. The first picture is much more representable of the shade.)

I love the lining inside, too!

The Verdict: I’m really happy with this month’s Stitch Fix! I’m super glad my stylist listened to my feedback and sent colorful items and great patterns. Also, I like how each top is a very different style (last month, I felt there was a lack of variety in design of the tops).

My total cost to keep everything (including the $20 styling fee credited towards my total, and the 25% off to keep all 5 items) is $160, which is a price I’m really happy with for 5 items – especially since it seems like my fixes have been significantly higher than that in the past. That comes out to $32 per item, which is kind of high for things like the t shirt and the tank top, but definitely a good price for the skirt and the bag. Also, it would really only take me keeping just about any 3 items to reach the $160 anyways, so I think I’ll keep all 5!

This looks like an awesome month for you! I’m less than 20 days away from my baby arriving, so no more StitchFix Maternity for me. Feeling kind of sad to be at the end of my maternity journey.

Don’t think I’m a creeper for saying but you are adorable!

The cold shoulder top is really pretty. I haven’t seen tops detailed like that before.

I’ll be honest– it’s the reason I open this review. Just like how I love seeing the projects that Anna’s boys make. 🙂
