The Cost: $9.95 monthly for MunchPak Mini (5+ full size snacks), $19.95 monthly for Original MunchPak (10+ full size snacks), or $39.95 monthly for FamilyPak (20+ full size snacks).

The Products: Snacks from around the world.

MunchPak-June-2015-Card

MunchPak included a card inviting me to update my snack preferences through their website. I did a little research into this, and I think it’s important to note that customization requests cost extra. Using their online portal, you can select ingredients as “preferred” or “non-preferred.” While this does not guarantee that those snacks will or will not be sent, it increases the likelihood that your box will suit your particular tastes. MunchPak charges $1 per customization request per delivery. So, for example, if you want to avoid “Seafood” and “Meat” snacks, each box will cost an extra $2.

Since boxes vary between subscribers, your MunchPak might be completely different from mine.

MunchPak-June-2015-Guinness

Burts Guinness Potato Chips (42 g)- $1.87

My jaw dropped when I saw these chips in my MunchPak. Guinness Potato Chips?!? I can’t believe I didn’t know that these existed! They’re (unsurprisingly) a product of Ireland, and SO good. The Guinness flavor isn’t too bold, but it provides a rich, subtly “beery” flavor that I really like. I may have to order a few bags for St. Patrick’s Day next year!

Herr's Buffalo Blue Cheese Curls (1 oz)- $.60

Herr’s is a US-based chip company. I’ve had Herr’s chips before, but these Buffalo Blue Cheese Curls are new to me. Instead of the traditional cheddar flavor, these puffs are flavored with wing sauce and tangy blue cheese.

MunchPak-June-2015-Quavers

Walker's Cheese Quavers (16 g)- $.71

I’m so excited to see Quavers in this box! They’re a product of England, and were one of my favorite snacks when I lived in the UK. Quavers are curly, crunchy potato snacks that come in a few different flavors. This flavor is light, with a hint of a cheesy tang.

Hi-Chew Regular Mix (3.53 oz)- $5.99

Hi-Chew candy is delicious, so I’m pleased to receive a full-sized bag of assorted chews in this box. I like that Hi-Chew uses real fruit juice in their candy, and I think it helps keep their flavors from tasting too artificial. My all-time favorite Hi-Chew flavor is mango, but I’ll happily snack on this mix of green apple, strawberry, and grape.

MunchPak-June-2015-Botan

Bourbon Petit Baked Potato Chips (45 g)

I love the packaging of these Japanese Pringle-esque chips, and I think the pink mascot bear is really funny.

Hello Kitty Strawberry Marshmallow Candy

These Hello Kitty marshmallows are fluffy and light as air. They arrived a little smooshed (perhaps melted?), but they’re still perfectly fine to eat. (Note: I think I’ve linked to the correct item, but there’s not much English on this package, so it’s tough to be sure.)

Botan Rice Candy (.75 oz)- $3.35

Botan Japanese Rice Candy has a subtle citrus flavor and a soft, chewy texture. Each small piece is wrapped in edible rice paper, and then individually wrapped in plastic. Each box also comes with a children’s sticker. My sticker shows a ram playing a saxaphone:

Too cute!

MunchPak-June-2015-Softcakes

Orange Softcakes from Feiny Biscuits (135 g)

Feiny’s Austrian Softcakes are a lot like Jaffa Cakes, which are one of my husband’s favorite UK cookies. They have a soft base, a layer of orange jelly, and are topped with a layer of chocolate.

MunchPak-June-2015-Belgian

Belgian Boys Liege Wafel (55 g)- $1.60

Belgian Boys Liege Wafels are thick and soft Belgian-style waffles baked with pieces of crispy sugar. I liked this snack in theory, but I couldn’t help thinking how much better it would be fresh out of the waffle maker. Perhaps I’m just not used to packaged waffle snacks like this one.

Yaokin Bar (6 g?)

Apart from the brand name, Yaokin, all of the writing on this bar is in Japanese, so it took some research to figure out what a Yaokin Bar is. Based on some online digging, I discovered that Yaokin makes corn snack bars in a variety of flavors like Pizza, Salami, Lobster Mayonnaise, Salad, and Cod Roe. I believe the flavor I received is Vegetable Salad. I’m a fan- it looks and tastes kind of like a giant Cheeto.

Zweet Gummy Lovely Hearts (50 g)- $.65

I love gummy snacks, and I enjoy trying different ones from around the world. These half gummy, half marshmallow hearts remind me a lot of Haribo Heart Throbs, though these Zweet Hearts might be a little softer.

Verdict: This was a great MunchPak! I really enjoyed receiving snacks from all over the world, and I discovered some incredible new snacks. Specifically, the Guinness Chips, Yaokin Bar, and Quavers were standouts for me! I’m impressed by the variety of items I received, and I love how many different countries are represented. I’m not going to do a specific value breakdown for this box because I couldn’t find all of the items for sale online, but I think the $19.95 price is definitely fair. I like that MunchPack offers the option to customize your box, but, at $1 per request, I can see how customizing could get pricey pretty fast. So, I think this box probably offers the best value for adventurous subscribers who aren’t too picky about they types of snacks they receive.

What do you think about this MunchPak? Do you like trying snacks from around the world?

That sticker looks more like a bass clarinet. Saxophones aren’t that long.
