Yuzen is one of the original eco subscription boxes. It’s a mix of spa, beauty and the occasional food item, and everything is made with natural ingredients. (It’s one of those boxes that smells amazing even before you open it!)

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Summer 2015 Hugo

Hugo Naturals Shower Gel in Vanilla & Sweet Orange – 2 oz Value $3

I’ve tried Hugo Naturals lotion before (I believe thanks to Yuzen), and I like this brand! The Vanilla and Sweet Orange scent is subtle, and this formula is gluten free and vegan too!

Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen in Fair – .25 oz Value $6.60

This Suntegrity product is sunscreen/BB cream hybrid. It’s tinted but goes on sheer, and leaves a slight sheen/glow to my skin. I’ve received this sample in darker shades which are a better fit for my skin tone, but fortunately even this fair color blends in to almost be invisible.

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Summer 2015 Lip Balm

Lasting Smiles Organic Peppermint Creme Lip Balm – Value $6

I sampled this lip balm thanks to the April Beauty Box 5, and I really like the formula – I’m happy to have another one!

SpaRitual Nail Lacquer Mini in Strike a Pose – Value $6.50

I believe Yuzen has sent a few SpaRitual nail polish minis out in the past few years – and I love them! (There’s something about mini nail polishes and mini perfume bottles that just makes me want to collect them all). The SpaRitual formula is great too.

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Summer 2015 Candy

Aromafloria Aromatherapy Muscle Soak Ocean Mineral Bath Salts – 4.5 oz value $3

This muscle soak is made with natural and organic ingredients. I can’t really detect the lemongrass scent, but the eucalyptus and peppermint scents are strong!

Torie & Howard Organic Hard Candy in Meyer Lemon and Raspberry – Value $5

These candies are so good! And they are also made with organic ingredients, and colored with red cabbage, purple carrots, and other fruits and veggies!

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Summer 2015 Shea Moisture

Shea Moisture Zanzibar Marine Complex Replenish & Rejuvenate Hand Cream – FULL SIZE! Value $6

I love the Shea Moisture brand since it is organic and affordable. (And you can get it at Target!) This hand cream is very moisturizing, and a little goes a long way so this tube should last me months.

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Summer 2015 Jurlique

Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming and Tightening Serum – .16 oz Value $10.40

I’ve tried a few Jurlique serums thanks to subscriptions, but I think this one is new to me. In general my experience with Jurlique serums is that they are gentle and provide a good base for my moisturizers, but I’ve never noticed significant differences in my skin appearance.

Aromaflage Botanical Fragrance & Insect Repellent in Wild – 1.5 ml Value $6

This is a perfume and natural insect repellent in one! I’ve tried their original scent before, and I like the Wild scent too.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $52.50. That’s a little lower than some of their previous boxes, but I think it’s still a pretty good value for a $33 box. Plus I really appreciate the curation of this box (I usually end up using every single item), so that’s a factor in value for me too.

What do you think of the Summer Yuzen box?

  1. Despite not having the inner box I still feel that Yuzen’s presentation is way better than other boxes. I really like the Shea Radiance lotion and the Jurlique serum. Both new to me. And the lip balm mission is very interesting. Again new. I like being introduced to new products which is why we all subscribe to boxes anyways right?
I give Yuzen a thumbs up!

  2. I have a question. Does this box auto renew? I signed up for a special last year 3 boxes for $99 and a fourth box free. I was just charged for the fourth box. Which if the promo code didn’t kick in renews me – anyone have this issue?

  3. I’m very happy with the box especially since I should be able to use all items which is a rarity for me. The two items that intrigue me the most are the Aromaflage insect repellant and the Suntegrity sunscreen. I will be outside a lot in the upcoming months and insect repellant and sunscreen are items that I will be using often. There are items I know I will order if they prove to be effective for me. There may be other items that I will order too depending how much I like them after trying them.

I read the Suntegrity brochure and am excited it helps calm rosacea!!! I’m a little worry about the aloe in it bothering me so am glad that I have the sample to try. I will be buying the Suncscreen & Primer if it works for me. The brochsure states it received a #1 rating by EWG. I wonder if they will be in the EWG sunscreen bundle?

  4. I miss the box they come in… I like to reuse the box for gifts. This is my second box and I like the first one much better.

  5. I think this box is divine! The box smells so good when you open it. You get a lot of items that I have not heard of before. The fact they are vetted for their mission is a big plus for me. Like the full sized lotion and the Tori & Howard candy tin! Many more items in Yuzen than in others and items I don’t know. I think Yuzen does a great job and I am not disappointed at all. Thank you Yuzen!

  6. I just got my box today (points for really fast shipping. . my shipping notice was just a few days ago!). It’s just not very exciting to me, there were only a few full size products with one being a lip balm and it just felt puny compared to the last box. I think this will be my last one. . . I like to discover new products, but I also appreciate getting great value for the money.

  7. I think I may be the only one who is not very excited about this box. I don’t enjoy getting perfumes or nail polishes in my boxes, and I don’t take baths. I’m not a fan of the scent of the lotion, but I agree it’s very moisturizing. I previously received the Suntegrity BB cream in another box, and don’t like it at all – it doesn’t provide the coverage I need, and the orange hue isn’t good for my skin tone.

On a positive note, I will definitely use the shower gel, lip balm, and Jurlique. I preferred the chocolate bar from last quarter over the hard candy this quarter, but I’m sure I’ll still enjoy the hard candy.

I don’t like complaining because I can tell they take great care in selecting their products, but I really prefer Goodebox’s customization.

  8. I like the box but…

My SpaRitual is PALE PINK. Which is like my least favorite polish color ever. Maybe it will be nice with some glitter over it.

    • As someone who is aware of your love (not) for pale pink, I can’t help but laugh.

  9. YAY! I’m glad I have this sub, looking forward to this box! Anything I don’t use, my daughter does so it works out wonderfully.

  10. Yuzen is one of my favorite boxes. I haven’t ordered one in awhile but this makes me want to sign up for the next one. They always include great brands and the packaging and presentation is beautiful. I love the Torie and Howard candies. I buy them sometimes from a local natural foods market and they are one of my favorite treats!

  11. This is a box I definitely wish I’d ordered! If anyone wants to sell theirs, let me know.

    • This box is quarterly, so it’s still available on their website through July. You can buy a one-time gift box for the same price as a subscription box, and it includes free shipping. 🙂

      • Great, thanks!

    • I just signed up for this sub and they said that they will send me this one (it’s available until July 31 as long as supplies hold out).

I’m super excited for this one. I think that quarterly is best for me because I don’t know if I could use all the products in a month’s time and would be buried in stuff rather quickly.

  12. LOVE LOVE LOVE Yuzen! They are the best box out there! I wish they were monthly. They always do a great job curating great products to discover. This box does not look to disappoint. I ordered a gift box of theirs for my mom who loved it!

  13. I am so happy I found this box! Because of the prices I am often times hesitant to purchase a product without trying it first. This is a fantastic way to try new products without spending a fortune on something you’ll never use!

  14. I might be getting this today if the tracking is correct. It will be my second box from them and I really like the products, presentation and curation.

  15. I’ve had the Torie & Howard candies before, they are SO yummy. The pear & cinnamon flavor is my favorite.

  16. I’ve tried the Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen, great sunscreen, nice and gentle. I got the Lasting Smiles Organic Peppermint Creme Lip Balm in another box, I like that it organic yet unlike other organic lip balms it seems to stay smooth and not get gritty. Only product I would not use is: Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming and Tightening Serum because of the Phenoxyethanol; – Time to get the summer Yuzen box – So happy for these reviews because it helps me decide if the box is worth it to me, and this one is.

  17. Can’t wait for mine
Glad that thanks to you I discovered this box
