Here’s a close-up of the burlap sack.
Alpine Caveman Cookie (16 g)- $.74
Tropical Caveman Cookies (14 g)- $.74
Thanks to subscription boxes, I think I’ve now sampled every single flavor of Caveman Cookies! Personally, they’re not my favorite cookies, but I know they have a cult following, and I appreciate that they’re made with simple, all-natural ingredients.
Barefoot & Chocolate Squeeze Pouch Spreads (three .9 oz packets)- $3
SnackSack included three packets of chocolate spread. Two of the packets are Almond Coconut and the other is Hazelnut. I love the convenience of the squeeze packets and also that I’m able to try this product in more than one flavor. Barefoot & Chocolate has an entire page on their website devoted to recipes that incorporate their products, and there are some fantastic sounding ideas like coconut hot chocolate, chocolate-filled beignets, and baked brie stuffed with strawberries and chocolate. I know how I’ll be using my chocolate spread!
Yum Earth Gummy Bears (.7 oz)- $.64
Yum Earth Gummy Bears have been making the rounds in food boxes lately. Luckily, I’m a big fan of the product; so I’m always have to receive more. These gummy bears contain no gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, dyes, or artificial colors, and I love their fruity flavors.
Fresh Fruit Hard Candies by Torie & Howard (1.5 oz)- $1.03
I weighed this little bag of candies using my kitchen scale, and used that number to calculate the value. While I received individually wrapped candies, Torie & Howard also sells their candy in signature tins. This brand of candy is new to me, and I’m definitely a fan. Their flavors include: pomegranate & nectarine, blood orange & honey, pink grapefruit & tupelo honey, and d’anjou pear & cinnamon. I love the creative combinations, and I think they taste great, too!
Luke's Organic Cheddar Clouds (1 oz)- $.88
Cheese puffs are probably my number one weakness when it comes to snacking, and I’m always happy to try a new organic brand. I haven’t seen Luke’s Organic in stores yet, but I’ll keep an eye out for it. These Cheddar Clouds are airy, cheesy, and delicious!
Quest BBQ Protein Chips (1.13 oz)- $2.39
Protein Chips are made with a protein blend (milk protein isolate and whey protein isolate) and contain 21 grams of protein per serving. I’ve never tried a product like this before, so I’m happy to have discovered it through SnackSack. The chips are thin and crisp, and I like the bbq flavor. They definitely don’t taste like regular baked potato chips, but I like them. Plus, with only 2 grams per bag, they’re surprisingly low in fat.
Madecasse Chocolate with Sea Salt & Nibs (.88 oz)- $2
I love chocolate made with sea salt and cocoa nibs! I think the salty crunch they provide is usually a great match for smooth, dark chocolate. This bar is no exception. It’s fantastic, and, according to the Madecasse website, it won the Best in Show Award at the 2011 Paris Salon du Chocolate. Also, I’m a fan of their packaging- I think it’s so cute that the bar is sealed with a raffia tie.
Raw Rev Glo Bar in Creamy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt (1.6 oz)- $1.89
Raw Rev Glo Bar in Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate, & Sea Salt (1.6 oz)- $1.89
Raw Rev Glo bars are made with omega-rich superfoods and plant based proteins. They’re also free from GMOs and artificial ingredients. This is one of several items that SnackSack sent in more than one flavor. Personally, I’m a fan of this practice, and I’m happy to try out different flavors of the same product. Of course, it’s disappointing if you receive something you don’t like (because you then have two), but, luckily, apart from the Caveman cookies that wasn’t a problem for me with this box.
Boom Chicka Pop Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn (1 oz)- $.65
Boom Chicka Pop Sea Salt Popcorn (1 oz)- $.65
Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks, and I’m a fan of Boom Chicka Pop. Their popcorn is free from gluten, trans fats, and preservatives, and I love that their original sea salt flavor is only 35 calories per cup.
Almond Blueberry Lemon Frontier Bites (.7 oz)- $1.75
Almond Blueberry Lemon Frontier Bites combine almonds, blueberries, and lemon with puffed millet and rice- kind of like a cereal bar. The bites are gluten free, soy free, dairy free, non-GMO verified, and made with only 8 ingredients. I really like this blueberry lemon flavor. It’s made with lemon oil, which I think adds a nice tartness and keeps the bar from tasting too sweet.
Sheffa Sweet Snack Mix (1.5 oz)- $1.49
Sheffa Zesty Snack Mix (1.5 oz)- $1.49
The Sheffa Sweet Mix contains “coconut-covered roasted almonds and soy nuts mixed with tangy cranberries, sweet papaya and pineapple.” The Zesty Mix contains “crispy chickpea noodles, roasted corn, and toasted seeds seasoned to savory perfection.” Both are tasty, and I like that the packets are perfect for eating on the go.
SnackSack also included some promotional materials from a few of the brands featured in this box.
Verdict: I’m really impressed by this shipment from SnackSack! I enjoyed the products they selected, and I discovered quite a few new snacks. The packaging was a joy to unwrap, and I especially liked unpacking the burlap sack. It reminded me of going through my stocking at Christmas! In terms of value, the cost of the items included just about breaks even with the cost of the box, so I’m happy with that. Based on this box, I would happily recommend SnackSack to those looking for a well-packaged, junk-free snack box!
