Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – May 2015 - Brochure 2

OrangeGlad includes a brochure that details the items included in the box and provides information about the month’s featured bakeries.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – May 2015 - Brittle

Lemon Pomegranate Brittle by Brooklyn Brittle (2.5 oz)- value approximately $3.50

This brittle definitely has curb appeal. Of everything in the OrangeGlad box this month, I found this to be me the most visually enticing. Happily, the flavors are great, too. The base of the brittle is crisp, and I like the fruity filling and crunchy glaze. I can’t pick out the pomegranate flavor (it just tastes “fruity” to me), but I usually feel that way about pomegranate snacks.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – May 2015 - Cookies

Salted Caramel Apple Oatmeal Cookies by Velvet Rope Bake Shop (2 oz?)- value $2?

First of all, I love the packaging of these cookies. There isn’t a weight listed on it, though, so I’ve estimated it. The box included three cookies, and I’m pretty sure they’ll all be gone before the end of the day. They’re delicious, and I love the combination of apples, oatmeal, and salty caramel.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – May 2015 - Sandwich

Two Moon Orange Chocolate Sandwich Shortbread (2.5 oz)- value $2.5

I couldn’t find this shortbread sandwich available on the Two Moon site, so I’ve used the value included in the OrangeGlad brochure. I love the combination of orange and chocolate, and I think these shortbread sandwiches are delicious. The shortbread is crumbly, without being too dry, and the orange flavor is well pronounced.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – May 2015 - Brownie

Petite Brownie Bites from Sugar Bowl Bakery (3 oz?)- value $1?

Again, there’s no weight listed on these brownies, so I’ve approximated their value based on the information provided by OrangeGlad. I like these brownies, but the brownie in last month’s box was so delicious that I think this one pales in comparison. I think I’ve seen these for sale at Costco, though, in case anyone is looking to stock up on more.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – May 2015 - Maple

Maple Shortbread by Vermont Moonlight Cookies (2 oz?)- value $2.30?

I love maple, and these cookies do not disappoint! The maple flavor is subtle, and it nicely complements the buttery shortbread.

Verdict: I really look forward to OrangeGlad’s Sweet Box every month. I think the curation is excellent, and I enjoy trying baked goods from across the country. This month, the value totals approximately $12 (if my estimations are accurate), which is pretty typical for OrangeGlad and not great for the $19 monthly cost. You can save on your first month, however, if you use code SHOPSWEET. That will bring the cost of your first box down to $16.15.

Also, I want to mention that it looks like OrangeGlad has recently changed their subscription model. I no longer see 3 and 6-month subscriptions available on their site; however, the cost of their month-to-month subscription has decreased.

What do you think of this month’s OrangeGlad Sweet Box?

  1. When I emailed them to not renew after my 6-month sub from Black Friday was finished, they emailed me with some more info: Since I was with them for more than 4 months, that makes me eligible for their “Adventure Plan,” which renews at the slightly lower price of $17 per month (still only a month-to-month option). They also have “more account management options, including pausing your plan.” This does make it more attractive to me, since I could, in theory anyway, pause the deliciousness. Still expensive, but thought I’d mention it!

  2. The brownies were disgusting. I’ve had better from the grocery store. So glad I did not pay full price for this box. I don’t think this sub is worth the price they charge..I think the 40% off is the right price.

  3. Subscription boxes offer Black Friday Discounts??? If so , I am in so much trouble!

    • I budget accordingly for the Black Friday deals. A lot of offers were available on Thanksgiving day. It was a great way to try out subs for a few months at discounted prices.

  4. This was my first Orange Glad box in my 6 month subscription and I was not excited. Hope it gets better from here, the treats were interesting but not in my taste range. And mine weren’t packaged nearly as nice as the photo’s above (no cute ribbon and crushed boxes).

  5. I am also disappointed in the cancellation of the 3-6 month subs. They sent an email saying “Yay…this is so much better to just pay $19 a month for everyone.” but it’s not at all. With the 40% coupon, I’d get a 6 month sub for about $11 a box. So $19 a month is a huge price increase and not worth it for me going forward.

    • My thoughts exactly! My six-month subscription from the Black Friday 40% off coupon ends this month, and I wanted to renew for another six months with the 40% off Mother’s Day coupon, but that option is now gone. I love the desserts, but this box is not worth it to me at $19 a month. I got one more month with the MD 40% off coupon, but I will be canceling after that.

      • I just snagged that deal when the offer first came out and I’m so glad I did. At least I have another 6 months, but at full price I’m not sure it’s worth it. Unless they have a better option in 6 months I’ll have to cancel since the value just isn’t there. I really love this box and trying new treats and goodies, so I hope they decide to change.

  6. This wasn’t my favorite box, and I’m a little miffed that they got rid of the 3 and 6 month subscriptions so you have to start paying $19/month. I love this box, but I don’t think it’s worth $19. I can’t wait to see what happens when Black Friday rolls around this year, are they not going to do the 40% off anymore at all?
