Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – May 2015 Brochure

Each box comes with a brochure detailing the theme and the items selected for the month. This month’s theme is “Fiesta! Fiesta!”

The brochure provides a quick description of the items included in the box and clearly outlines which items are gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, etc. I like that they display this information so prominently.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – May 2015 Chips

Spinach & Kale Corn Chips by The Better Chip (2 oz.)- value $.99

These chips are gluten free, vegan, and non-GMO verified. I was a little hesitant about them because I’m not usually a huge fan of kale chips, but I really like them! The spinach and kale flavors are definitely there, but the prominent flavor is corn.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – May 2015 Smart

PB Thins 100 Calorie Pack (.81 oz.)- value $.90

Dick and Jane Smart Snacks (.88 oz.)- value $.67

I’d describe PB thins as a cookie/cracker hybrid with a surprisingly tangy flavor. At first, I found the tanginess a little off-putting, but the crackers grew on me a bit after the second bite.

I’ve never seen Smart Snacks before, and I think they are such a great idea! This packet helps teach “English + Spanish,” and each cookie is stamped with an image and the word for it in both English and Spanish. Here’s an example:

I love the idea of an educational snack! The cookies themselves are similar to animal crackers (maybe a little sweeter). Smart Snacks are also available imprinted with States & Capitals or with the US Presidents.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – May 2015 Corn

Sea Salt & Vinegar Inka Corn (1.7 oz.)- value $.90

Mini Lemon Burst Cookies by Home Free (.4 oz)- value $.44

Salt & vinegar chips are a favorite indulgence or mine, so I was excited to try these Sea Salt & Vinegar Inka Corn snacks. Unfortunately, I don’t think the salt & vinegar combination works quite as well with corn as it does with potato chips. Still, I like the corn snacks themselves, and I’m sure I’d enjoy both their original and spicy flavors.

I’ve tried Home Free snacks before, and I’ve been impressed with their gluten free chocolate chip cookies. These are pretty good too- and very lemony!

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – May 2015 Honey

Coconut & Pink Guave Fruit Ice by Smooze! (2.2 oz.)- value $.88

Iced Mango Mint and Blood Orange Candy by Go Organics (2 candies)- value $.20?

Hibiscus Creamed Honey by Vintage Bee (1 packet)- value $.40?

I’m so excited that Love with Food included a freezer snack in this box! It’s currently in my freezer hardening up, but I think the flavor sounds great, and I can’t wait to try it.

I have a terrible sweet tooth, so I’m always happy to see candy in food boxes. I like these a lot, and I think the Blood Orange Candy tastes a lot like real blood orange.

When I was a kid, my mom used to buy honey sticks from the farmers’ market to put in my lunch bag. This packaging reminds me a little of those. I’ve never had Hibiscus Honey before, and I like it. It’s blood red in color, and the flavor is great. My only complaint is that the addition of the hibiscus gives the honey an unusual texture. It’s a little gritty, maybe? The texture wasn’t a bad thing, necessarily, but the honey didn’t have the smooth consistency I was expecting. On toast, I probably wouldn’t notice it, though.

Verdict: This might be my favorite Love with Food Tasting Box yet! I love that they included a frozen snack, and I think the Smart cookies are such a great discovery. This month, the value comes to just over $5. The Love with Food Tasting Box doesn’t provide sky-high value, but I think it’s a great way to discover products that are healthy, delicious, and junk-free. It’s also nice to know that for each box purchased the company will donate a meal to a hungry American child. For me, knowing that my snacking has a charitable impact helps make up for the lower-than-ideal value of the box.

What do you think about the May Love with Food box?

Just got my box today and definitely not my favorite, not a fan of all the fruit flavors. The deluxe box got 2 bags of Beanfields Bean and Rice Chips, always love them, 1 bag of popchips, the lemon burst cookies, 2 bags of the Smart Snacks, 1 PB thins, 1 GoVida freeze dried banana and raspberries, 2 honey stick, 4 hard candies, fruit ice, free sample of Schar Gluten Free pasta and 1 pack of the Inkacorn in Chile Picante. I would’ve loved to get the Salt and Vinegar, those are my favorite chips. Oh! And an actual jar of MontanaMex Chile Salt which I can’t wait to try.

The deluxe doesn’t have any of the spinach and kale chips?

Nope, my deluxe bag didn’t have any kale chips either

I got the Smart Snacks in an earlier LWF box — states, I think, but maybe Presidents, and we impressed enough that I got the Spanish version for my nephews for Christmas. They’re nut-free from a nut-free facility, which is important as one of my nephews has an allergy. The boys have really enjoyed them, too.
