Love with Food is a monthly snack and food sampling subscription box. They only send natural and organic food and snacks, and for every box shipped they donate a meal to charity.
MSA regularly reviews the Love with Food Tasting Box. This is a review of the larger Love with Food Gluten Free Box.
Since there is some item overlap between boxes, I’ve clearly marked in the review which items I also received in my May Love with Food Tasting Box. Hopefully, this will be helpful for anyone interested in comparing the two boxes.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Each box comes with a brochure detailing the theme and the items selected for the month. This month’s theme is “Fiesta! Fiesta!”
The brochure provides a quick description of the items included in the box and clearly outlines which items are vegan, non-GMO, etc. I like that they display this information so prominently. Since this is the gluten-free box, all of the items are marked as gluten-free. (Note that Love with Food has included a message on the brochure to let subscribers know that some of the items included in the box do carry a shared facility warning. Love with Food has spoken directly to these manufacturers about their production practices to ensure they can safely recommend these products.)
Herbes de Provence Quinoa Puffs by I Heart Keenwah (3 oz.)- value $3.49
My husband grabbed these quinoa puffs right away. He made an uncertain face at the first bite, paused for a second, and then kept eating. I had pretty much the same response. I wasn’t sure I liked them at first (I think they could use a little more salt), but they grew on me with each bite. Still, I appreciate that they’re flavored with herbes de provence. Herbes de provence is a great, classic spice blend that isn’t often utilized in snack foods.
Tamale Pie by Cooksimple (10 oz.)- value 4.99
I haven’t had a chance to make this tamale pie yet, but I really like that this kind of item is often included in the larger Love with Food boxes. I think it’s great to receive a variety of snacks, but I also like receiving items that can be used for meals.
Chile Picante Inka Corn (1.7 oz.)- value $.90
Coconut & Pink Guave Fruit Ice by Smooze! (2.2 oz.)- value $.88
I received the Sea Salt & Vinegar Inka Corn snacks in my Tasting Box this month. I wasn’t a fan of that flavor combination with the corn, but I really like this spicy flavor.
I also received these freezer snacks in my tasting box. They’re made with fresh guava and coconut milk, but guava is definitely the dominant flavor. I think these are great, and I’d love to try the Mango and Pineapple flavors, too. Also, I really appreciate when Love with Food sends different kinds of snacks. There’s nothing wrong with cookies, chips, candy, and crackers, but I’m always happy to see snacks like this that are a little bit different.
(Both of these items were included in my May Love with Food Tasting Box.)
Pico de Gallo Bean & Rice Chips by Beanfield's (1.5 oz.)- value $1.25
Gluten Free Penne by Bonta d'Italia (2.8 oz.)- value $.70
I’ve received Beanfield’s chips quite a few times in subscription boxes. I think they’re tasty, but I’m always more excited when Love with Food includes items that are new to me.
Bonta d’Italia Gluten Free pasta is made with corn and rice flour and gets great reviews on Amazon. The packet of penne I received is enough to test it out, but I wish they’d included a larger size. I’m not sure this sample is big enough to incorporate into a meal for more than one person.
Vanilla Maple Almonds by Hail Merry (1.5 oz.)- value $2.50
NoGii Paleo Bar Nuts about Berries (1.48 oz.)- value $2.41
Instead of roasting the almonds for the vanilla maple blend, Hail Merry dehydrates them at very low temperatures, which helps preserve their flavor. I’m a big fan of maple-flavored snacks, and I think these almonds are great. Also, it could just be the power of suggestion, but these almonds do seem to taste more almondy than almonds from a lot of other brands!
I’ve sampled NoGii protein powder, but I think this is the first bar I’ve received. It’s paleo and vegan (in addition to being gluten free) and contains two kinds of nuts, 2 kinds of seeds, and 5 different fruits.
Mini Lemon Burst Cookies by Home Free (.4 oz)- value $.44
Hibiscus Creamed Honey by Vintage Bee (1 packet)- value $.40?
I’ve tried Home Free snacks before, and I’ve been impressed with their gluten free chocolate chip cookies. These are pretty good too- and very lemony!
When I was a kid, my mom used to buy honey sticks from the farmers’ market to put in my lunch bag. This packaging reminds me a little of those. I’ve never had Hibiscus Honey before, and I like it. It’s blood red in color, and the flavor is great. My only complaint is that the addition of the hibiscus gives the honey an unusual texture. It’s a little gritty, maybe? The texture wasn’t a bad thing, necessarily, but the honey didn’t have the smooth consistency I was expecting. On toast, I probably wouldn’t notice it, though.
(Both of these items were included in my May Love with Food Tasting Box.)
Montana Mex Sweet Seasoning Salt (3 oz.)- $7.93
Based on the sizes available online, this container is just shy of being full-sized. Montana Mex Sesasonings are available in 3 different flavors (Picante, Chile, and Sweet), so there may be some variation in what subscribers receive. I received the sweet salt, and I’m very excited to try it. Montanta Mex recommends using it on plank-grilled salmon or roasted chicken.
As always, Love with Food included a handful of coupons and promo cards.
Verdict: Overall, I really enjoyed this Love with Food Gluten-Free box. There were a number of product overlaps between this box and the smaller Love with Food tasting box, and I thought it was really interesting to compare the two boxes. I liked the variety of gluten-free items Love with Food selected for this box, and I enjoyed most of the snacks. In terms of value, the total of the items adds up to just over $25, which just about breaks even with the per-box cost of an annual subscription. For Love with Food, I think that’s great. For each gluten-free box they ship, Love with food donates two meals to hungry children in America. I really like this aspect of their business, and it makes me feel good to know that my snacking has a charitable impact.
