30 Days of Candy Subscription Box Review - May 2015 Contents

The Subscription Box: 30 Days of Candy

The Cost: $29.95 + $5.95 shipping

The Products: 30 individually packaged packs of candy

Ships to: US

30Days-May-2015-Card1Each box from 30 Days of Candy has its own theme. This month’s theme is “around the world in 30 sweets!” Each candy pack in this box features sweets from a different country.

30Days-May-2015-Card2

Since this box includes 30 different packs (a lot!), I’ve selected a few packs to feature at the start of the review, but have included a full list of countries & snacks at the bottom of the review.

30Days-May-2015-Japan1

30Days-May-2015-Japan2

Japan- Green Tea Kit Kat

This might be my favorite candy discovery in the entire box! I love Kit Kats! And Green Tea! Also, I was surprised to discover that these Kit Kats are Amazon’s #1 bestseller in the category of Candy & Chocolate Bars. Here’s hoping they make it stateside soon!

30Days-May-2015-Germany1

30Days-May-2015-Germany2

Germany- Hirsch Fruit Basket

I decided to feature these candies from Germany because I love the beautiful country scene featured on the wrapping. They’re unlike anything I’ve seen before (and tasty too)!

Each packet of candy contains a card that provides information about the sweet, as well as a quote from the featured country. I think this is such a nice addition! This packet features one of my favorite quotes:

30Days-May-2015-Quote

Another favorite is this old Norwegian saying: “A small but excellent party, said the man, drinking alone.” How delightfully offbeat!

30Days-May-2015-Russia1

30Days-May-2015-Russia2

Russia- Mishka Kosolapy

The name of this candy, Mishka Kosolapy, means “clumsy bear,” which I think is so cute! These candies have an almond praline center and are covered in dark chocolate. Each packet has calorie information listed, which is a really nice touch. I can definitely see how having small pre-portioned packs of candy can help prevent overindulgence.

30Days-May-2015-Austria1

30Days-May-2015-Austria2

Austria- Pez with BONUS Donald Duck Dispenser

Pez isn’t a new candy to me, of course, but I had no idea it was Austrian! I also love that they included a bonus dispenser.

30Days-May-2015-Others1

30Days-May-2015-Others2

Here’s a list of the other 23 mini-packs:

Argentina- Arcor Fruit Taffies

Belgium- Napoleon Bon Bons

Canada- Sixlets

China- White Rabbit

Colombia- Colombina Fussione Caramel

England- Walkers Nonsuch English Creamy Toffees

Finland- Fazer Marianne Chocolate Filled Mint Candies

France- Maison Pecou Jordan Almonds

Hong Kong- Lucky Candy

Indonesia- Milkita

Ireland- Jelly Bean Factory Jelly Beans

Italy- Perugina Sorrento Spicchi Hard Candies

Malaysia- Okio Fruit Gummies

Morocco- Fresch Chewy Dragees

Netherlands- Van Melle Advocaat Toffees

Norway- Licorice Caramels

Poland- Krowki Cream Fudge

Singapore- Meiji Hello Panda

South Korea- Fruit Flavored Hard Candies from The Daylight Confectionery Company

Sweden- Daim

Switzerland- Milka Milkinis

Taiwan- Hi-Chew

Thailand- Kopiko Coffee Candy

Turkey- Haribo Minis

Ukraine- Roshen Jelly Candy

USA- Bit-O-Honey

Verdict: I love this month’s theme from 30 Days of Candy, and I think the selection of candy is diverse and delicious. I often like to eat a few pieces of candy at night after dinner, and I think these pre-portioned packs will help ensure I don’t overdo it. I also like that each baggie includes a card with information about both the candy and the country it’s from. In terms of value, the cost breaks down to $1.20 per pack. I think this is a really fun concept for a candy box, and I’m looking forward to exploring candy from around the world over the next 30 days (if the candy lasts that long)!

I just got my 2nd box! I really like it and, shockingly, have been able to make the boxes last the full 30 days.

Blast from my past! I haven’t had the milkita candies since my family left Indonesia. Now I may have to sign up for this box.

I usually am not very wowed by snack boxes, but this has a great concept! I hope each theme is as diverse and unique as this box. Though the “30” day thing may end up being “within 48 hours” for me!

This looks so fun! I’ve been holding off adding a candy subscription to my ever growing list but I think the search is over! I love the individual packaging and the idea of having one package for each day of the month. Hopefully I’ll be able to control myself! 😀

Mary

Unless the box administers an electric shock anytime a person tries to sample more than one package a day, I know for sure I will not be able to control myself. I’ll justify it by saying I’m learning about other cultures… 😀

What a cool box! Love the concept of a little sugar each day and being introduced to items not readily available. Ordered a sub for myself and a one time gift for my favorite uncle’s birthday. He loves his sweets!

OMG, you guys, I have *got* to get off this website!! I keep adding subscriptions. My weakness after beauty products is food (and sweets in particular) so I’m really screwed, lol. I ordered this box, hoping against hope the “Around the World Candy” will still ship out…. Now somebody please send me a 12-step guide for sub boxes! 😀

Signed up and code worked for free shipping. Thanks for the code Bish and also thanks for the review. My granddaughter and I will have a good time exploring this box each month.

This is so neat! Just tried to order using the FREESHIP and it accepted the coupon code, but wouldn’t accept free shipping at checkout. Anyone else have the same problem?

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

Did you have a shipping options dropdown on the order page? I did and mine defaulted to free, but I wonder if yours defaulted to the flat rate instead…

Orlee

I’m completely charmed by this idea! Am off sugar for now but living vicariously…. Great review!

That looks like a fun box to try. I love the assortment you showed, and I like that it’s individually packaged. That said, I think over $1 per small package of candy is a bit much for every month, so I likely wouldn’t keep a regular subscription, but I wouldn’t mind getting this occasionally.

Those Kit Kats are made by Nestle and that company makes a ton of different flavored. For some reason the U.S. is the only country where Hershey makes them so unfortunately I don’t think we will be seeing these sold in stores ever.

Reply ButtonReply

Katherine

They are sold at Cost Plus World Market. (;

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

You can get them at World Market, too.

Reply ButtonReply

Shannon P.

I see them all the time. Any Asian store I’ve ever been into, big or small, carries them.

Reply ButtonReply

Andrea

Actually I’ve seen green tea Kit Kats in several different stores around the Seattle area! Asian stores and candy stores have them.

I love this box! I am sure my brother would devour this as a gift but he has a nut allergy, is it easy enough to identify which of these have nuts?

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

When you subscribe there is a place to add notes… maybe you can mention that someone has a nut allergy. Who knows, they might try to avoid giving you candy with nuts or at the very least, mention when something could have nuts in them.

Reply ButtonReply

Lindsey

Hi Debbie! The individual bags aren’t marked with any allergy information, and there’s no ingredient list posted on the card. Also, I should mention that some of the candy is loose in its baggie (notably, the Jordan Almonds) and not all of the bags arrived tightly sealed. I hope that helps!

Debbie

Thank you, it does!

Awe man, I’m pretty bummed out that I missed this around-the-world box – I am in love with this concept. I would have loved to try different kinds of candy from around the world!

I could not resist – just subscribed to a one-time shipment, and if I read correctly, you can still can the Around the World candy box. Used the free shipping code – thanks for posting it, Bish – I’m excited about this one!

Reply ButtonReply

Loretta

Yona, they’ll let you start with this box so go for it. And be sure to get the code that Bisha mentions down here in the comments. I missed it!

Emily

I couldn’t resist this! Awesome review, Lindsey, and thanks, Bish, for the shipping code.

One of my favorite things when traveling is finding unique, sometimes odd, but usually yummy sweets while grocery shopping! I’m SO excited that I don’t have to get on a plane to try this! Now, with FREESHIP (Thanks for the code Bish) I’m SO in! Brilliant.

Love this! I have found green tea kitkats stateside, but only at Japanese grocery stores or at World Market. Pretty pricey both places though!

Reply ButtonReply

Becka

I love those Green Tea Kit Kats! So yummy!

Reply ButtonReply

I’m trying this, I like the variety and I know I will end up getting more of those kit kats.
If you use the code FREESHIP by midnight on 5/31 you’ll get it shipped for free!
