Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Box

Wantable is a monthly subscription service that has 3 different plans: Makeup, Accessories, and Intimates. (Plus a styling service for Fitness clothing similar to Stitch Fix in the try-then-buy model) It’s one of the pricier subscriptions ($40 a month), but everything they send is full size, and they fully customize the boxes based on your preferences. You also can return individual items from any box for a refund.

Wantable sent me this makeup box at no cost to review.  (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Invoice

Here is my invoice. In addition to the retail price of the item, they also include “your price,” which is how much you would get refunded if you wanted to return that item. (Wantable recently introduced individual item returns to their subscriptions. Previously, it was keep the entire box or send the entire box back for a refund).

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Preferences

You get to take a very detailed survey of what items you love, like and dislike. You won’t receive anything in your dislike list.

I used to get very specific with this list, but I’ve found that I have better luck at high-value boxes when fewer things are on my dislike list.

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Eyeshadow

Au Naturale Creme Shadow in Larkspur – Value $20 (Cost to keep $9.39)

I love Au Naturale products, especially their creme shadows, so I was excited to see this in the box! The Larkspur color goes on a little more sheer than I was expecting, but that’s actually a good thing for me since the color in the pan is pretty bold!

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Bodyography

Bodyography Pressed Complexion Powder in Honey Beige – Retail Value $27 (Cost to keep $12.77)

This powder is a match for my skin tone in summer, so it’s a good fit, but I’m wondering if the makeup is old since Bodyography shows a different packaging on their site. (I’m likely being over skeptical, but if I had paid for this box, I would likely return this item for that reason).

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – March 2015 lip gloss

Frankie Rose Lip Gloss in Crushed Berries – Retail Value $16 (Cost to keep $7.51)

In the tube, this lipgloss looked like it might be a little too bold for me, but it just gives a natural looking amount of sheer color and shine. Stickiness wasn’t an issue either.

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Lord Berry

Lord & Berry Magic Brow Pencil in Wonderful – Retail Value $22 (Cost to keep $10.33)

This is my favorite discovery in the box. Looking at the pencil, I was worried the color would be too grey, but it is such a natural looking shade of brown that matches my brows perfectly. It also goes on relatively light, I don’t have to worry about accidently applying too much at once.

Verdict: With the exception of the pressed powder, this box is a win for me. The value is double the cost, and I really like that you can return individual items now.
What do you think of the Wantable Makeup subscription box?

  1. Ok I’m giving up on Wantable, I got my April box today, no eyebrow products this time but still crap. one eyeshadow arrived beyond shattered, it’s just dust. The blush is super pretty, but sooooo bright and too dark for my skin. The “red lipstick” they sent is a nude pink. I don’t understand who fills the orders. They can’t get anything from my loves list, their “reds” are always pink. They have to be colorblind.

  2. I love this sub. I got it after reading your reviews and folks comments. I am so impressed with them. March was my first box and it got here super fast. I ended up returning two items. The colors were not for me. All of the items seem to be good quality. The return process was so easy and their customer service was great. I love the quiz aspect. I love lipstick, and I hate lipgloss. It is nice to know with this sub, I will not get any more lipgloss. I got my April box and it had the same cream shadow and color that you have in your Match box. I also got a Vincent Longo powder eyeshadow in a beautiful spring color, a Mirabella blush, and a doucee matte lipstick. Kept it all. And I signed up for the April accessories box. Can’t wait for that!

  3. I would’ve killed for this box!!! I’m dying to get lip products, for March I had a Frankie Rose lipgloss in a terrible frosted pink color, horrible on my skin tone. I also got a creme eyeshadow and a lip and cheek tint and a brow pencil. Super disappointed for $36/month I wouldn’t have paid $10 for any item in the box. I would’ve killed for Liz’s box, I love the shade of the lip gloss and I’m dying to get a powder or foundation or something different. I sent my whole box back, praying this month is better otherwise will probably cancel it.
