ToGoSpa Society Subscription Box Review - April 2015 - box

The ToGoSpa Society is a subscription box from ToGoSpa. You may have seen some of their under eye gels in other boxes in the past couple of months (MizzFit, Bare Bliss Box, and POPSUGAR, for example). But they offer their own subscription service, as well.

ToGoSpa sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

ToGoSpa Society Subscription Box Review - April 2015 - infocard

Rather than having a theme, ToGoSpa focuses on replenishing your supply of their EYES and FACE gels, along with one Benefit. Because a lot of the content is the same each month, you don’t get a standard information card. Instead, you get a printout telling you more about the Benefit, which is a full-size, spa quality item valued at $20-50.

ToGoSpa Society Subscription Box Review - April 2015 - coconut

Wild Lime Coconut Coffee Scrub 7 oz. (FULL SIZE!) – Value $20

Replenishing Coconut EYES Gels (pack of 3 pairs) – Value $12.50

I think I am one of the few people who doesn’t like the smell of coffee, and this scrub really smells like coffee. However, it is super effective as a scrub and I like that it’s dry so there’s no water contributing to the product weight.

These Coconut EYES gels don’t have a strong coconut scent and I think they do a good job at soothing and cooling the area under my eyes (I put them in the refrigerator overnight before using). I had to readjust the position a few times, though; they slid a little bit.

ToGoSpa Society Subscription Box Review - April 2015 - water green tea

Refreshing Ice Water EYES Gels (2 packs of 3 pairs each) – Value $25 ($12.50 each)

Rejuvenating Green Tea EYES Gels (2 packs of 3 pairs each) – Value $25 ($12.50 each)

When you sign up, you can choose to receive only one type of EYES gel or you can select “variety” and get a mixture. This was the variety pack. I haven’t tried the Ice Water EYES yet, but the Green Tea ones provide an effect similar to the coconut ones, although they have less of a scent).

ToGoSpa Society Subscription Box Review - April 2015 - masks

Refreshing Collagen Gel Masks (package of 3 masks) – Value $35

These are like EYES but for your whole face. They’re slippery so this is one item you’ll need to lie down to use (in the bathtub works, though!). I find them to be quite moisturizing, as well.

Please note: The collagen, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid in these masks are from plant and/or bacterial sources. However, the masks also contain chitosan which is extracted (and purified) from a shellfish source, so they are not vegan. I reached out to ToGoSpa to confirm the ingredient sources and am pleased to report that I received a direct and informative e-mail reply the same afternoon. That was my only interaction with their customer service, but I think it’s a good sign

Verdict: I have really been into masks lately, so this was a great box for me. It has a value of $117.50 if you count full retail prices, or $110 if you count the price of the EYES based on a discount from ToGoSpa if you purchase 5 or more packs of EYES. I think it’s a pretty good value for $65.

It is a little bit daunting to think about using 15 pairs of EYES gels a month, though. If you have tried EYES gels before and love them, this is definitely an economical way to ensure a constant supply (one of the more expensive packages offers 30 pairs). If you just want to buy one package of EYES to try out before subscribing, you can do that through ToGoSpa’s online shop.

What do you think of the April 2015 ToGoSpa Society box? Are you a fan of the EYES gels?

I absolutely love Eyes and Face! Such a fabulous product! My eyes were swollen this morning from a rough weekend and minutes later I was good to go!

Why can’t I find that scrub on their website? I feel like a dork…

I think the links got mixed up (sorry if that’s my fault). I made my name a link for this comment. Click that and it will take you to a different site where you can order the scrub.

How clever– thank you!! How cool that there are even more varieties of the scrub. I might have to try them all! 🙂

I love eye gels but why the high price? Are they really that expensive to produce? I’ve started buying some items in the men’s section of stores (like black socks) because the mark up on women’s stuff is frustrating.

Can I please say I’m obsessed with both of these products? My eyes & skin have never looked better! I’ve gotten all of my friends & family hooked too.

Thanks for the shellfish warning. I got these a few months back in a sub box but hadn’t vetted them yet. I have a lethal shellfish allergy. It’s harder and harder to avoid shellfish these days since it seems to be in everything. Even bananas are sometimes sprayed with a shellfish preservative (learned that the hard way).

The CS representative from ToGoSpa said her sister has a shellfish allergy and uses these daily with no trouble. But, I figured better safe than sorry.

And yeah, I work at a patent law firm doing chemistry and biotechnology work. I have learned that chitosan (the shellfish-derived compound) is used in all kinds of ways that I never would have imagined.

I got the coconut eye gels in another beauty box recently, and was disappointed to see they are made in China. I wonder if the other products are manufactured there as well?

All of the EYES gels do say Made in China.

The body scrub is from a different company and is made in the US.

I tried these eye gels in a Popsugar box. Totally love them, I even got my husband to try it once! I think they’re great but definitely better at a discounted price as I wouldn’t use them so regularly. Thanks for the review!
