The Music Box is a monthly subscription service that sends you music and music-related gifts. They hand pick emerging artists (keeping in mind your favorite genres) and send you new music every month. They offer 3 subscription options: The Box is a monthly box delivery containing items like CD's, posters, stickers, wristbands, t-shirts, and more. Another option is the Envelope, which gets you a monthly compilation CD with 10-14 different artists. The Bundle package gets you both a music box and the envelope.
Because the Music Box curates every subscriber’s package with their individual music preferences in mind, my box will vary from others. This is a review of the Bundle.

The Subscription: The Music Box
The Cost: $10/month for the box, $5/month for the envelope, or $13/month for the bundle which includes both the box and the envelope.
The Products: In the Box, you can expect 4-6 items like CD's, posters, stickers, wristbands, t-shirts, etc. In the Envelope, you can expect 1 mixed CD with 10-14 different artists featured.

This is the Envelope, the mixed CD that is an option to be subscribed to monthly itself or can also come in the Bundle (along with the regular box). It has 15 tracks on it and, flipping through them, I like a lot of them. There’s a lot of variety, from singer-songwriter to rock and hard rock, to country to heavy metal, to indie and more. Unfortunately, there’s no track list – not printed on the back nor slid inside the envelope with the CD, and the tracks on the disk are named just “track 1,” track 2,” etc. Sure, I can find the names and artists of all the tracks by searching online, but I think they should have included a track list.

I was surprised, at first, to see a band of kids ages 8-13 featured, but after listening to their single I definitely think they’re pretty good! They’re described as rock, but I could see them being pegged as pop/rock, too.

Five Times August sounds so similar to John Mayer to me, which I personally don’t care for. I know a friend who’d probably love it, though, so this will get passed along to her.
Pat Llewellyn has a cool rock sound – I don’t instantly love it, but I wouldn’t skip the tracks if they came up on Pandora.
Also included with the box are some stickers, promo codes for music downloads, suckers, and a button.
The Verdict: All in all, I’m happy with this Music Box. They did a good job featuring genres I like, while still offering a variety within my tastes. I also liked the envelope/mix CD, too, but I feel like a track list is a really easy and basic thing they should have included.
