GoodHabit-April-2015-Box

Good Habit Box is healthy subscription box that includes snacks, teas, and breakfasts to help support a happy and healthy lifestyle. Subscribers choose whether to receive boxes weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. All items are gluten free (though not certified, as they may be processed in a facility that processes wheat) and vegetarian (but keep an eye out for honey). Additionally, for every box purchased, Good Habit Box donates a meal to a child in need.

There are 4 box variations available to choose from: Be Delighted (4 snacks and 2 teas), Be Balanced (2 breakfasts, 2 snacks, 2 teas, and 2 protein shakes), Be Mindful (4 breakfasts, 4 snacks, and 8 teas), and Be Fit (4 breakfasts, 4 snacks, and 4 protein shakes).

This is a review of the Be Mindful box.

There’s also a small brochure that lists nutritional information and “best by” dates for all of the items in the box.

GoodHabit-April-2015-Tea

ASCEND Earl Grey Tea with Bergamot

I love earl grey tea. The blue flowers in this blend are lovely, and I was happy to see that the tea bags are high quality. My only complaint is that Good Habit Box offers four kinds of tea, and I think I would have preferred to receive two of each flavor (instead of 8 of the same flavor).

GoodHabit-April-2015-Oatmeal

Very Forest Berry Oatmeal

Ginger Fig Oatmeal

I really liked the sound of both of these flavors! I don’t usually eat oatmeal for breakfast, but I was excited to try these. Overall, I thought they were both good, but they definitely tasted like they were healthy. I prefer my oatmeal with a little sweetness, so I mixed in a bit of honey.

GoodHabit-April-2015-Snacks

Cashew Goji Berry Pepita

Cinnamon Apple Walnut

Both of these snacks are made without added salt or sugar. I liked both of them, but I think I’m more likely to regularly reach for healthy snacks if they’re sensibly seasoned. Still, I thought these were high quality snacks with a clever blend of ingredients.

Verdict: I liked Good Habit Box and enjoyed the convenience of having breakfasts and snacks at the ready. As of now, they don’t have a large variety of options available in each category (i.e. they currently offer 3 kinds of oatmeal, 8 snacks, 4 teas, and 1 shake), so I think it would be great to see their selection increase. It would also be nice to have the option to customize your subscription, or “trash” any snacks or breakfasts you’d rather not receive again. As far as value goes, it’s hard to do a specific breakdown, but I think $14.99 seems reasonable for the products I received (if maybe a bit on the pricey side). There’s certainly value in the convenience Good Habit Box provides, and I do think regularly receiving this box would help motivate me to make healthy food decisions throughout the day.

What do you think of the Good Habit Box?

I think it’s a great concept! But, I wish they had a nut-free version for those of us allergic.

I got a box for the heck of it. I was actually impressed, but not enough to keep the subscription.

I was waiting for this review to see what you thought. I ordered when they had the half-price deal or whatever it was. I received the box with two each of the snacks, teas (one each of two flavors), oatmeal and protein shakes. My box contained the small brochure, but not the paperwork. I had some problems with the online ordering system and wrote to them about the error on their page. Customer service was great and wrote back to me right away, and were appreciative that I notified them of the issue. I was really looking forward to the box, because I love oatmeal. Unfortunately, I found the oatmeal to be unpalatable. I took about four spoonfuls, and ended up having to spit out the last one. I am not a picky eater at all, but I just could not get it down, as the flavor was so bad. I have been too afraid to try the other flavor. I did not mind the snacks. The tea blends look beautiful. I wish the tags were labeled, however, so that you can tell what the tea is without having to refer to the brochure and trying to match the bits and flecks with the descriptions. Lastly, the protein shake is made with whey, which does not work with a vegan diet. So, unfortunately, this one is not a win for me. I would consider buying their snacks and teas box, though. I believe in what this company is trying to do, and I wish them great luck. They need to work on their taste formulations, however, if they hope to be successful.
