Scentbird Subscription Box Review – March 2015 - Box

Scentbird is a perfume sampling subscription box that sends you 100% authentic perfumes every month. When you sign up, you take a preferences quiz to help them suggest recommendations for you to try, and you can also go browse and rate the rest of their selection to make the recommendations even more accurate. You can build a queue of fragrances you’d like to try or you can let yourself be surprised every month.

Because this subscription is so heavily personalized, the fragrance I selected to review this month is only one of a large number other subscribers may have received.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription: Scentbird

The Cost: $14.95/monthly, $14.50/month with a 3-month plan, $14/month with a 6 month plan, or $13.50/month with a year plan.

The Products: One 8 ml spray atomizer of a 100% authentic perfume

Ships to: US

Scentbird Subscription Box Review – March 2015 - Info Card

Along with the fragrance you receive each month, Scentbird also includes a card describing the “perfume of the month” for the next month. April’s perfume is Clique by Roblé. I haven’t tried a “perfume of the month” recommendation yet, but I just added this one to my queue for next month! The description makes it sound amazing. How could a fragrance with notes inspired by French Toast Crunch be bad?

Scentbird Subscription Box Review – March 2015 - Info Card 2

With your first month’s delivery, you receive a perfume case that fits your 8 ml sprays inside – this card details how to use it!

Scentbird Subscription Box Review – March 2015 - First Items

This is the purse spray case you get with your first month, with the sample vial inside. You can see it closed (top) and open (bottom). I have to say that this is what makes this subscription for me. The case is has a nice weight, is sleek, and feels high quality. It’s easy to open and close, and to switch perfumes you just open the case, pull the vial out, and place the next one inside!

Scentbird Subscription Box Review – March 2015 - Second Item

The fragrance I selected this month is Pink Sugar Sensual by Aquolina. It has top notes of black currant, tangerine, and bergamot; middle notes of orange flower, pink jasmine, and tiare flower; and base notes of vanilla, black sugar, and sandalwood.

One main reason I selected this scent is because I’m really familiar with the original Pink Sugar fragrance by Aquolina. It’s one of the sweetest, almost candy-esque fragrances I know. It seems to be a very young, “girlish” perfume (it even has notes of cotton candy), so I was interested in trying out the Sensual version, thinking it’ll be slightly more grown-up.

I was right! Pink Sugar Sensual, to me, is much more floral-sweet than the purely sugar-sweet of the original. That being said, this is definitely still a very sweet perfume. It is very playful with a little bit of sex appeal. I think it’s easy to wear, and would be a good fragrance pick any time of year.

A .34 oz/10 ml bottle of this fragrance sells for about $19, so this .27 oz/8 ml spray is worth about $1511. The sample size Scentbird sends is enough for a month of use, with two applications a day.

Scentbird Subscription Box Review – March 2015 - Gift Card

This month, they also included a $25 promo card for Le Tote, which is “Netflix for Women’s Fashion.”

The Verdict: Scentbird is probably my favorite fragrance subscription. I know I can trust the perfumes they send to be authentic and, month after month, I find that I also get a good deal for the amount of perfume I get. Their selection is a nice size and has lots of variety. You can find a lot of department store/popular brands to try; I’ve found they don’t typically carry perfumes that have been very newly released, but you can always email them requests. They keep a list of perfumes they plan on adding, and requests for specific fragrances bump it up in priority.

I also feel like this is an excellent option for people who want to explore the world of fragrance even if they’re not very familiar or practiced with identifying notes or knowing how to describe the kinds of perfumes they like. Their website is easy to use and search, has detailed descriptions about each perfume, and provides you with lots of recommendations based on your tastes. All in all, I’m really happy with this sub!

What do you think of Scentbird?

I subbed after hearing good things, and they say they ship on the 15th of each month but I haven’t received any tracking information. Does anyone know if they ship later?

I just got my tracking email a few minutes ago. I bet you’ll get one soon. Customer service is very responsive, too, in case you don’t have an email by tomorrow!

I’m wondering if we can put those gift cards from Le Tote on the swap site. They don’t carry my size so I can’t use it, but didn’t see any other cards up for swaps.

I signed up for six months with the Rue La La deal, amd I really love this so far as well. I am intrigued by the Apil fragrance of the month too, and put it next in my queue after reading their description. I have way more than six perfumes that I want to try now!

The only thing I would suggest to improve this sub is maybe they could send out tiny vial samples as well to help you pick your queue? I would be willing to pay extra for that. I mean, most of the purfumes sound awesome from their descriptions. I did go to my local sephora and tried a bunch of stuff to get ideas about the types of scents I wanted for my queue, but really what I want to try are the scents that aren’t easy to get through Sephora.

I got a deal on Rue La La I think. Anyway, the deal was like 3 months for $15. I’m on my second month and I love it! The size of the perfumes is huge. The first month I got Prada Candy and this month I got Escada’s Born in Paradise. Escada is my absolute favorite fragrance “brand” and I wanted to try this one and I wasn’t disappointed.

Jill- it sounds like we have very similar fragrance tastes! Those exact two perfumes are ones I found at Sephora (before I found out about Scentbird) and loved so much I actually bought a full-size of both! =] I have some more Escada in my queue, but when you find more perfumes you love, you should definitely let me know what else I should try!

This is my second month — I tried it because of your great reviews – and I love it! Nice perfumes, excellent personalization, and I love the purse spray thing too.

I bought a 3 month sub and didn’t plan to re-up since I don’t wear perfume every day…but I love it so much I am going to re-sub.
