Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – Jan 2015

Each box comes with a brochure detailing the theme and the items selected for the month. This month’s box includes “Healthy Food Finds” by Healthy Grocery Girl.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – Jan 2015

The brochure provides a quick description of the items included in the box and clearly outlines which items are gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, etc. I like that they display this information so prominently.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – Jan 2015

Lightly Salted Plaintain chips by Turbana- 1.05 oz, value $.91

Sea Salt Bops by Good Boy Organics- .8 oz, value $1.04

I’ve always enjoyed plantain chips, and I love how these by Turbana are sliced very thinly. They’re lightly salted, which contrasts wonderfully with the subtle natural sweetness of the plantain.

Bops are baked potato snacks that I found to be similar in flavor to Baked Lays; however, the texture is a little different. Bops have a slightly puffier texture that I thought was kind of addictive. They’re organic, gluten-free, and verified to be Non-GMO by the Non-GMO Project. They also have 65% less fat than regular potato chips.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – Jan 2015

Annie's Chocolate Bunny Grahams- 1 oz, value $1.12

Roasted Chickpeas with Sea Salt by The Good Bean- .75 oz, value $.68

Bunny Grahams are one of my favorite discoveries from this box! I loved the addition of chocolate to the classic flavor of graham crackers, and the little bite-sized bunnies were so cute. I would definitely buy these again.

I love roasted chickpeas, so I was very happy to see these included in the box. Their salty crunch makes them crave-worthy, but they’re also high in protein and fiber.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – Jan 2015

Nutty Rice Bites with Cranberries by 180 Snacks- .62 oz, value $.83

Natural Hemp Hearts by Manitoba Harvest- .5 oz, $.56

The Nutty Rice Bites are slightly sweet, crunchy, and vegan and gluten-free. I really enjoyed them.

Hemp hearts are small, nutty-flavored pellets that can be sprinkled on salads, sandwiches, yogurt, or cereal to easily increase protein intake. (Three tablespoons of hemp hearts provide 10 grams of plant-based protein.) I’m not sure I would consider these a snack, but I suppose you could eat them on their own.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – Jan 2015

Almond Butter Cacao Truffle by Two Moms in the Raw- 1 oz, value $1.33

Choco Chews by Trujoy Sweets- 3 chews, value $.66

Morning Organic Tea by Miracle Tree- 1 bag, value $.30

When I think of a truffle, I think of a rich, chocolately, melt-in-your-mouth sweet treat, and this was something else entirely. This truffle was a chewy patty of chopped almonds, agave, cacao, and sea salt that reminded me of chocolate marzipan. I enjoyed this snack, but it certainly wasn’t what I expected!

Choco Chews are vegan, organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO chewy chocolate candies. I thought they were similar to Tootsie Rolls, but the flavor was definitely more like that of real chocolate.

Mint tea is a favorite of mine, so I’m always happy to have more. I’ve tried this brand before, and I’m a fan.

Love with Food Subscription Box Review & Coupon – Jan 2015

As always, Love with Food included a handful of coupons and promo cards.

Verdict: Overall, I really enjoyed this Love with Food box. The value of the items adds up to $7.50, which is a little higher than it was last month. I’d still like to see the value increase further, but I think Love with Food does a great job of choosing snacks that are delicious and junk-free. While this certainly isn’t a box with sky-high value, I always really enjoy what they send. It’s also nice to know that for each box purchased the company will donate a meal to a hungry American child. For me, knowing that my snacking has a charitable impact helps make up for the lower-than-ideal value of the box.

What do you think about the March Love with Food box?

we tried the tasting box and it wasn’t the box for us. We’re definitely snackers, but not really completely healthy snackers. (Some are healthy, but not all) We ended up eating most of the things, but gave a lot away too as things that just didn’t interest us. I did want to mention that the $15 soap.com card was a great little bonus. I used it yesterday to order some foundation and it arrived today. 🙂

I cancelled when I saw the preview for March. I’m glad I cancelled. All the items look gross. I have about $30 in points and am not even slightly interested in any of the items in the shop currently. I hope next month’s previews look better. This box is not about the dollar value, it’s all about the curation. We enjoy this box as a family, and overall we love Love with Food.

No plantain chips for me, but I got a chocolate banana mini snack bar that was really good — and I’m not normally a banana fan — and a packet of herbs de provence. The rest was the same as posted. I liked the chocolate chews, , but the “truffle” was underwhelming, to my taste. Not sure what I’m going to do with the hemp hearts, but other than those, the tea, and the spices, I liked everything else pretty well.

It’s funny how everybody got a different box. This was just my second box and it was just ok. It wasn’t the best box like last month but I liked the 180 snacks they were delicious. My son like the truffle and we got a banana bar that he liked too. I haven’t tried the other items except for the chips and they had a weird aftertaste. I’m hoping next month box is a whole lot better.

I just got my first LWF box too (I signed up with a groupon deal, so I think that, with the additional shipping, it came out to about $9 a box). I got the alternate box described below as well. We haven’t loved it. Nothing has been terrible, but nothing was terribly interesting either. We liked the apple chips and the chick peas. My preschooler generally likes fruit pouches but she turned her nose up at the beet-cherry one. I thought it was okay.

I’m bummed because I really was excited after seeing last month’s review. I have been wanting to try those baked mac and cheese puffs, but didn’t want to buy the gigantic bag from Costco 🙂

Anyway, I’ll have to check out the review option to earn points.

I had the same box as Saiza. I really liked the ChocoChews and ordered in their store. They taste like Tootsie Rolls but are healthier.

This was probably my least favorite box.. I would have been thrilled with the bunny grahams and the plantain chips, instead of the weird pouch and herbs.

Though the apple chips are kind of addictive, and the popcorn got eaten.. though it’s just plain popcorn, nothing exciting.

Just an overall blah box!

For the deluxe box, lwf came out with multiple boxes and didn’t alarm us. Therefore I got the short end of the stick and got the last (crappy) version of this months box. I mean it was filled with repeat items from months AGO. I also didn’t get an info card or any coupons. When I went to review my items, my review list was items I didn’t get. The items i got I couldn’t review for points therefore I was forced to review items I didn’t have to earn points. Which to me is unfair to the company who sells the product. I emailed lwf twice and didn’t get respond. Then lwf put up the alternate dexule box (the one I got) and quickly I put a review, listing all these little weird happening and all my concerns for lwf in the future. Not even an hour after my review, lwf took down my review and the alternate box onlineand emailed me. They offered me 500 points ($5) and two March tasting boxes.
I’m still upset about how lwf wasnt very proactive for this month and this situation. I mean I don’t care if they send out alernate boxes, it’s just I wish they would of told me up front instead of my writing emails and bad reviews.

Are the prices for the items calculated using Love with Food’s prices for buying the items in bulk? It seems weird to use bulk prices to determine the value for the box. Of course buying 2 dozen bags of chips is going to be way cheaper per item then buying one. I’d rather not buy snacks in bulk (I have no willpower, I will eat them all) so it would be more helpful to get an idea of how much things would cost if I wanted to buy a normal size.

In my tasting box I got mango fig bars instead of the plantain chips… also mango tea instead of mint!

I really liked my box this month – I got a bunch of different items, but some were the same and what I got I really like! I’m a fan.

Saiza

I got the deluxe box and mine was a little different, I didn’t get the plantain chips, Annie’s chocolate grahams or the tea. I got a Nothing Beets Cherry Organic Fruit Snack, 479 Sea Salt Popcorn, All Natural Fiji Apple Chips, and Herbes De Provence blend sample pack. I’m not big on fruit stuff, so this wasn’t my favorite box but it was still good. I love the 180 snacks.

I also get the deluxe box and received the same items you did. This is the first time that that’s happened. I would have loved to try the plantain chips.
