Dottie Box Mini Subscription Box Review – March 2015

Old Whaling Company Lip Scrub – 2 oz, value: $6

Itty Bitty Bubbles & Co. Shower Steamer in Blonde Moment – value: $2

I was excited to see a full-size jar of lip scrub in this box! I always kind of feel bad about purchasing sugar lip scrubs because I feel like I should just mix sugar and oil myself and get the same effect. This scrub has a pretty neutral, fresh scent (I don’t think there’s any fragrance or flavoring in it), and works great!

Shower steamers aren’t something I’ve tried yet, but I guess I’m going to now! The “blonde moment” scent actually smells a lot like bubblegum or cotton candy.

Copper Leaf Earrings from Totally Tish – value: $5

These earrings scream “autumn” to me, but I like leaf-themed jewelry so I’ll probably still get some use out of them before then. If not, I’ll probably pass them along to my sister-in-law.

The Verdict: This wasn’t my favorite Mini Dottie Box, but I really like the lip scrub and know I’ll get a lot of use out of it. As far as the value of the box goes, everything adds up to $13 which breaks even of the cost (including shipping). I wish there were a little more value to the box, but maybe it’s just an off month for this one.

What do you think about March’s Mini Dottie Box?

This will be my last box for now. I order in 3 month blocks and am taking a couple months break. I love the shower steamer which survived four showers. It has a good, strong scent. I’m going to use the lip scrub as a body scrub. I’m not sure what to do with tge earrings.

I find Dottie boxes to be fun.

I recently started making my own lip scrub using brown sugar and coconut oil. I added a few drops of almond extract, but you could use vanilla or any other extract that would go well with the coconut oil. After a few weeks, it’s mellowed out and solidified slightly, and tastes like a coconut macaron cookie.

That sounds amazing, Stephanie! I’ll have to try that out sometime. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve received those earrings in another subscription box last year and I love them and wear them all the time. A word of warning though… they are very light weight and fall out easily. Twice I’ve lost one of them, but luckily found them again—one time I got home from work and didn’t realize one was missing so I retraced my steps the next day and actually found it on a sidewalk!! Since then I use earring backings and haven’t had any problems. 🙂

I like the lip scrub and the shower steamer! Dottiebox intrigues me but I haven’t ever subscribed to it. I got the December box at a discounted price and loved it.
