Universal Yums Subscription Box Review – January 2015 Pizza

Piraque Biscoito – 3.5 oz

Pipoca Vovozinha - 2.1 oz, value: $3.99

Both of these are yummy! The Piraque Bicoito tastes like pizza-flavored Cheez-Its, and the Popoca Vovozinha is really sweet, puffed corn. It honestly tastes like it could be a cereal!

Universal Yums Subscription Box Review – January 2015 Vale

Biscoito Polvilho Natural – 3.5 oz

Amendoim Japones – 5.29 oz

Bauducco Chocolate Ginger Star – 1.05 oz, value: $.79

Biscoito Polbilho Natural is actually a yucca snack. I’m not a personal fan of these, but they’re like yucca-flavored Cheetos (at least, that’s what the puffy texture reminds me of).

I had no idea that Brazil holds the second largest Japanese population (after Japan, obviously)! The Amendoim Japones is a crunchy, Japanese snack. These are VERY crunchy. So crunchy, I didn’t care to chew on them! The flavor was good, though.

This Chocolate Ginger Star is pretty straight forward – it’s a chocolate-covered gingersnap-like cookie. Very good!

Universal Yums Subscription Box Review – January 2015 Candy

Ouro Branco – 2 pieces

Serenata de Amor – 1 piece

Sonho de Valsa – 1 piece

Pacoca Rolha – 2 pieces

These candies are all very good. The Serenata de Amor (translates to “a love serenade”) is a bon bon – it’s basically a cream-filled wafer coated in chocolate. The Sonho de Valsa is very similar, but it’s actually a famous rival candy. Ouro Branco is a white-chocolate version of these bon bons.

These Pacoca Rolha are a crumbly peanut treat – to me, they taste just like the inside of a buckeye!

Universal Yums Subscription Box Review – January 2015 Gum

Bubbaloo Gum – 3 pieces

Bala Lua Cheia – 3 pieces

Bananada Tradicional Cremosa – 1.05 oz

This gum is supposed to be similar to Fruit Gushers, with a fruity, juice filling. I know my family will love to try these.

The Bala Lua Cheia pieces are fruity hard candies, and the Bananada Tradicional Cremosa is similar to a banana-based protein bar. I haven’t tried either of these yet, but I’m curious about them!

Verdict: I’ve tried a lot of universal food subscription boxes, and I have to say that I think Universal Yums is my favorite. This is my second box, and both boxes have included snacks that are things that are different, but that I’m not afraid to try. I’ve even found snacks I love through these boxes. Universal Yums does an amazing job with their info cards – each snack or treat has a description that sounds like a friend comparing it to something you’re already familiar with. As far as value goes, it was difficult for me to find a lot of these items online, so I couldn’t do a cost breakdown due to the nature of the box. I do know, however, that I never would have found or tried any of these items without Universal Yums, so I’m happy!

What do you think about Universal Yums?

Unfortunately, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I initially joined with a promo code for the $10 price you list above. When I got my first box, I realized that they had actually charged me for the larger box. I contacted their costumer service, and they said that they would change my membership to the smaller package, but that I would have to pay full price, because the promo period had expired during the time that I was waiting for the box to arrive.
(Regular price(s) are now $13 and $25, not the $10 you list above).

I receved teir first box..and mine from Germany. I liked it so much I gifted a 3m box to my dad after only the first box The second box, Jan., was from Brazil. His housekeeper who is from Brazil loved the box that my dad kindly shared w/her. BTW, his housekeeper said the Brazil box was very authentic. The cookie in the box reminded her of a recipe for them that she had not made in years. Well today she made a couple dozen to share w/ friends and co-workers and I got to have some too. Yum! This box is on point for price and customer service is great. I love this box and the next box is from Italy..can’t wait! They give you a hint to the next box with your card from the current month, then post the answer on FB. The card also includes fun facts for that country.

Question: do you know if the products in these international boxes are FDA approved? Food and make up boxes.

I never thought about that, good point. – I’ve been doing lots of research on make up and beauty and hygene products and I’ve been very surprised on what is approved in the USA and not approved in other countries. – I m not sure about food products.
