Petit Vour Vegan Beauty Subscription Box Review – Feb 2015 Ellovi

Ellovi Mint Chocolate Body Butter – .5 oz Value $3.70

Balanced Guru Scrub Me Body Scrub – 1 oz Value $2.90

This body butter smells like the perfect chocolate chip mint dessert – it is addictive! From what I can tell they don’t currently sell this scent on their site, but I hope that changes soon – I will definitely buy more!

This Balanced Guru scrub is another amazing scent. They combined coffee, spearmint, and ginger (which I would never have thought would be a good combination), but I love it. This scrub has loose particles compared to some other scrubs, but it still has enough oil in it to leave my skin moisturized after using it.

Petit Vour Vegan Beauty Subscription Box Review – Feb 2015 Mascara

Lily Lolo Vegan Mascara in Black – FULL SIZE! Value $20

I love getting new mascaras in subscription boxes (I will never get sick of getting mascaras or candles) so I was very excited to see this full-sized mascara from Lily Lolo. I had already applied mascara this morning, so I didn’t get to give this mascara the full test yet, but I tried layering some over my existing mascara and I liked the lengthening it added.

Petit Vour Vegan Beauty Subscription Box Review – Feb 2015 Perfume

Harvey Prince Damask Rose & Gardenia Perfumes – 2 ml total Value $6.50

I’m never too excited about perfume samples in subscription boxes, but I really like everything else in this box, so no complaints here!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $33.50. I’m happy with the value, and I’ll use everything besides the perfume, so the personal value is good for me as well. What do you think of the Petit Vour items this month? Do you like the scents of the body butter and body scrub too?

  1. I just subscribed to Petit Vour; this was my first box and I’m so disappointed I almost want to cancel. I guess the fact that they don’t offer much in the way of customization makes it inevitable that you’re going to get things you really don’t want. Perfumes are so subjective and people have such varying degrees of preferences when it comes to scents that I don’t think they should be included in these boxes unless you’re able to specify that you want fragrances and what type you like. Personally, I do not like either of these fragrances, they smell like old lady perfumes.

    • Oh, don’t get discouraged without trying a couple more months! They’ve already given a spoiler that the Juice Beauty CC Cream will be included next month. I definitely preferred the January box over this one, but the mascara makes this box worthwhile for me. If you look at Liz’s reviews from last year, you can see the variation from month to month.

I’ve heard they are revamping their beauty survey for rollout this year, which will allow them to better customize for us. And I’m with you – I’ll ask for no more perfumes!

    • Hang in there! I don’t use perfume either (and very much dislike receiving it), but fortunately Petit Vour rarely includes fragrance (much less often than other beauty boxes). And, as Andi mentioned, I’ve also heard that PV is rolling out a new beauty survey!

  2. I received a spoiler email today and it says that all the March boxes will include: JUICE BEAUTY STEM CELLULAR CC CREAM (mini size).

    • So excited about the CC cream in the March box! Just renewed my sub for petit vour! = )

  3. I might be one of the only people who is always excited about receiving fragrances. I am a very scent-oriented person, and oftentimes a good quality fragrance is quite expensive. On the off-chance that I hate the scent, I can always give it away, but I appreciate receiving free samples! I actually liked this box the best out of any other Petit Vour’s past boxes. I am a big fan of mascara, and am delighted with the length and volume this one provides. Plus, it is full size! I love the scrub, though it is a little messy all you need to do is rinse your shower/tub a little extra. The scrub smells incredible, and is softening and moisturizing. The body butter was my least favorite. The smell is awesome, but it is too greasy and non-absorbent for me. In my opinion, no other monthly boxes out there in this price range can compete with Petit Vour. It is wonderful to receive not only cruelty-free products, but also products that are less well-known and usually quite expensive on their own!

    • I also feel the same about the perfumes as you. Perfumes are pricey so it’s nice to receive samples of it. Many times I don’t even use up the whole bottle. So a small sample is nice to keep. As long it’s a scent I like or okay with. So far so good for me. Of course I would not want it in every beauty boxes they have. That’s too overwhelming.

  4. I’m happy with the box. I’m excited to try the mascara and body scrub, and I’ve been using the Ellovi as a lip balm. It has similar ingredients to other lip balms I own so I figure it is ok for that purpose. I wasn’t excited to see the perfume sample – I got the My Daughter fragrance – but I like everything else so overall it’s a good box for me.

    • That is such a wonderful idea, I shall also use it as a lip balm!!

  5. Also one of my Harvey Prince perfume sample spray were broken. But at least I can somewhat smell what it is like. I am debating if I should contact them about it or not. =/

  6. I must admit the worth of this month’s beauty box is pretty low compared to the previous months. The thing is I feel like I am going to use everything in the box so that’s a win for me. Sometimes when I get a bunch of stuff but nothing is really usable makes me pretty sad because I end up giving it away.

Balanced Guru: Body Scrub – I really like this coffee & sugar flavor scrubs. I finally got my “Gourmet Body Treats Body Scrub” (from VeganCuts) they are pretty similar sense they are both coffee flavored. I kept getting bug bites lately because IT’S SPRING!! The scrubs really help sooth my irritated skin. = )

Ellovi: Chocolate Mint – WOW! It smells so good I don’t even care….

Harvey Prince: I am kind of meh with the Rose but I am in love with Gardenia. Honestly I am not a big fan of perfume samples but if there is one I really like I don’t mind it. I will probably get the bigger version of Gardenia. Smells like Childhood.

Lily Lolo Mascara: I love it <3

Excited for March box!! = )

  7. I agree with others – this box was somewhat of a letdown after last month’s box. The mascara is hands down my favorite item. However, I’m not excited about any of the other items. The Ellovi body butter smells fantastic, but it’s greasy and takes awhile to soak in. And I’m not a fan of the messiness of the scrub, although it did work wonders on my dry hands. I don’t wear perfume, so my Joyful sample is going to a friend.

  8. I’ve always liked Petit Vour, I looked on their site and I’m not seeing the Ellovi Mint Chocolate Body Butter – Hope they ad it soon – The stuff smells amazing. I’ve been using 100% pure mascara and it is fun to try this new brand.

    • They have it on their website. It’s in the shop under “body”, then click on Ellovi Body Butter, then click on the tab that says “original”, then there will be a list that pops up that says original, vanilla, or mint chocolate. I hope this helps. It’s $26 for 3.5 oz.

  9. I will use none of these items. If someone is really interested in purchasing my box let me know. I don’t know if it’s worth your while with shipping…
Otherwise, everything looks good and smells yummy. I am truly maxed out with products and boxes.

  10. Petit Vour is definitely my favorite box – I absolutely love it! I want cruelty-free beauty products, but ones that feel high end, so necessarily very indie and home-made (though those can be nice too sometimes). It’s also a great price and value and I tend to really like the majority of the products. I’m so excited about the mascara too – I have been trying to find a cruelty-free mascara. I tried it this morning and it was fantastic. Plus, I’ve wanted to try that brand for awhile now. I got the scrub in another box and I don’t love the scent since I don’t like coffee, but it works reallly well.

  11. I’d love this box! Anybody want to unload their’s?

    • Even though I can only use the mascara from this box, PV is still my favorite beauty subscription 🙂 All the items in my box (same items as depicted here) are a good value (the mascara retails for $20). In my opinion, sub boxes should stay away from including fragrance. There’s such a huge difference between being a makeup/skin care user and being a perfume/fragrance user.

  12. I would had loved the scrub and body butter. Mint Chocolate Body Butter 🙂 I do own the full-size version of the scrub which I purchased after trying it in a different box. I’m tempted to buy the body butter.

  13. I had 1 fragrance sample in my box and it was for one of the My Daughter fragrances.

For me, this was the most “meh” PV box I’ve received, but this is my favorite sub generally, so no complaints.

    • I completely agree with you Lauren. I got the same fragrance sample as you, and mascara never excites me. 2 body products in 1 box don’t excite me either. Here’s looking to March!

  14. I would have liked to receive this box, though I’m pretty over Harvey Prince – as much as I like perfumes.

    • Perfume is pretty personal, and not all scents are for all people, but it is nice to know what is out there. I just won a Harvey Prince giveaway, and got some of the same samples and a full sized (1.7 oz) Petaly Noir. I am not gonna knock Harvey Prince right now since they just sent me all those goodies, even if it will take me an eternity to get through all the backlog of perfume I have.

      • That is totally true. I just got two Harvey Prince samples on Birchbox. The first one reminded me too much of Avon’s Far Away, to the point that I couldn’t stand it. The second one, reminded me too much of the first one. They didn’t actually smell alike, but they had a similar “fingerprint”.

  15. I’m loving the Ellovi Mint Chocolate Body Butter scent, and it IS available on the PV site. Yummy! Can’t wait to need some, which could actually be a while with the stash of lotions, body butters and such I have from sub boxes.

This was a great PV box!

    • Thanks for letting me know it is available through Petit Vour. Time to stock up on a full sized version! 🙂

      • I want to buy one!

      • I assumed the Ellovi was a lip butter and used it accordingly. Since it’s all natural no harm, no foul. After using it as a hand cream I’ve decided I still like it as a lip gloss/butter and will keep right in using it that way. As a side note, this is why it’s a good idea to read the content card before applying products from beauty sub boxes, lol!
