Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Moravian

Cheryl’s Buttercream Valentine Cookie- 1.5 oz, value $1.60

Salem Baking Chocolate Dipped Sugar Moravian Cookies- 1 oz., value $1.99

A relative sent me cookies from Cheryl’s over the holidays, so I’m familiar with their products. The buttercream cookies are indulgent and remind me of the frosted holiday cookies I made when I was a kid.  This one arrived a little mashed, but it was still tasty.

Moravian cookies are something of a local treat in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. For those who’ve never had them, traditional Moravian cookies are crisp, thin, and taste a bit like speculoos cookies, full of spices like ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. I like this twist on the classic. True to form, the sugar cookies are rolled thinly, so they’re nice and crispy, and then dipped in dark chocolate.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Palmiers

Annalisa Chocolates Caramel Sea Salt & Raspberry Truffles- 2 truffles, value $3.50

Sugar Bowl Bakery Petite Palmiers- 2 pastries

Palmiers are baked slices of puff pastry, usually rolled in sugar. They can have up to hundreds of layers, making them delightfully flaky. I followed OrangeGlad’s recommendation and tried these with ice cream and honey. They were crispy, buttery, and delicious.

No Valentine’s Day box would be complete without truffles! I like that these are all natural and finished by hand. Salted caramel is one of my favorite things, so I was very happy with the flavor choices. Here’s a glimpse of the truffles inside in the box:

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Fudge

OrangeGlad We’re Mint to Be Fudge

This minty fudge is mixed with little chunks of Oreo, and it’s oh so decadent. I also think the packing is darling. (This isn’t available for sale online. I’m not sure if it’s an exclusive product for Sweet Box subscribers, or if it’s just not listed in the OrangeGlad online store yet.)

Verdict: This was my first OrangeGlad box, and I’m happy with it overall. I love the curation of the box; everything was delicious, and I think the treats they selected this month perfectly suit the Valentine’s Day theme. The packaging is also top notch, which makes the box a joy to unwrap. It’s difficult to determine an overall value for the products included, since everything isn’t available online, but I don’t think the total value of the items meets or exceeds the cost of the box. I think this box is more about discovering new goodies than it is about getting a great deal, which is definitely something to keep in mind if you’re thinking about subscribing.

Just used SPRING30 code for 30% off my new subscription–that makes it only $13 and change for a 6 month sub…definitely worth it for me! (it is only for new subs though)

Found a discount voucher online last fall and my sister and I gave our mom a 3 month sub for all she doe to help us with our kids. She LOVED it! Even our dad got in trouble for swiping a treat or two from her box 😉 It makes a GREAT gift!

I love Orange Glad!! It’s my favorite sub, but also because my family has a raging sweet tooth lol. This was the best box yet I think. The palmiers were delicious, it said to drizzle them in honey, which I might try next it sounds really good. I haven’t tried the fudge yet but it smells wonderful and I love the container. I just love the packaging of Orange Glad too, it’s so flipping cute.
