Okie Goodies Box included a magnet, a coupon code, a card detailing the items in the box, and a map that shows where in Oklahoma the items featured this month were made.

Okie Goodies Box Subscription Box Review - February 2015 Popcorn

Kernels and Kandies Zebra Popcorn- value $5

Unique Confections Truffles- 4 truffles, value $10

This sea salt caramel corn was drizzled with generous amounts of milk and white chocolate. For me, caramel corn is a food I never buy but will happily devour if it’s in the house. Given that it’s described as sea salt caramel corn, I was hoping it might be a little saltier (I couldn't really pick out the saltiness), but it was still delicious. I did like that it came packaged in a re-sealable bag so I could nibble at it little by little without concern that it would get stale.

Unfortunately, the paper box containing the truffles arrived damaged. It looks like one of the walls came unglued from the rest of the box, and, as a result, the truffles spilled out into the cardboard shipping box during transit. I decided not to eat them (just to be safe), but I really liked the flavors they decided to include. In addition to relatively classic flavors like raspberry and cheesecake, there were also two more unusual flavors: Blackberry Sea Salt and Cayenne White Chocolate. I’m a sucker for an experimental flavor combination, so these were right up my alley! Here’s a photo of the truffles:

Sweet Prairie Home Signature Strawberry Fudge- 4oz, value $6

Toasted Strawberry and Sangria Spread- 9oz, value $6.95

Sweet Prairie Home fudge was also included in this month’s O! Fudge Box (The same company runs both O! Fudge Box and Okie Goodies Box). Like the fudge I received in that box, this one did not have an expiration date listed. To be fair, the chocolates didn’t either, but I think there’s a difference between boxed chocolates and fudge sealed in plastic. It seems pretty clear that an unwrapped box of truffles should be eaten soon after it’s received, but I’m not sure about a sealed container of fudge. I reached out to customer service in the hope they could provide an expiration or use by date, but I did not receive a reply.

I really liked the wine fruit spread. It was much thinner than a traditional jam, but the flavor was great. The wine flavor was subtle but definitely present. The Toasted website recommends trying the spread as a marinade for chicken or adding it to sautéed onions and peppers to create a sweet glaze.

Okie Goodies Box Subscription Box Review - February 2015 Chocolate

CoCoFlow BonBons- 2 bonbons, value $6

As you can probably see from the photo below, this candy box also arrived damaged. Luckily, these bonbons remained in their box. There weren’t any flavors listed on the information card, so I’m not sure exactly what the flavors were. The dark chocolate bonbon was filled with a smooth dark ganache that tasted a little bit fruity, but I couldn’t pinpoint the exact flavor. Raspberry, maybe? The milk chocolate bonbon was filled with a white ganache that might have been flavored with caramel.

Verdict: The value of this box totals $34, which almost exactly equals the cost of the box when you factor in shipping. I enjoyed the variety of products, and I liked the foods I was able to sample. That being said, I think this box will likely have the most appeal to those with some personal tie to Oklahoma. As I mentioned above, I also found their customer service to be unresponsive, which is never a good thing.

What did you think about this month’s Okie Goodies Box?

Update: Since my box of truffles arrived damaged, Okie Goodies kindly sent me a replacement box. I never reached out to them directly about the damaged product, so it was a nice, unexpected surprise to receive another box.

This box looks really nice! Too bad that you couldn’t try the truffles, the one with the smiley face is especially cute.
